This is exactly true. Jimin is intuitive and very intellectually intelligent and empathic as a human being. It is clear that his father's assessment about his character, smarts and respect for elders plus likelihood of succeeding in whatever he put his mind to was spot on. His gorgeous flirty appearance hides a much deeper mindful sensitive personality. He knew how to share advice without belittling the girl.

Jin looks like he is weeping for that poor girl at 37 minutes in. I can’t stop my tears, I feel so sad for her. But, then I love Jin’s “phone” conversation with her as her dad. So funny. I like Jimin’s adv as well, and Jin’s. I love their compliments as well! I truly hope her self-esteem soars after this!
1:15:24 I just want to say how mad Jimin look in this part and I'm with him 100%, and I'm so worry about the fact that this guy really thinks that his plushies are MORE important that his own mother, like wtf. Personally I realy like how honest and sweet Jin and Jimin are in this episode. And I really hope that all the people there could resolve their problems because most of them look like really serious.

It's more than just the boy being "weird". He seems to show signs of autism, so I understand where both you and Jimin are coming from, but the problem is deeper than just him being "childish". Doesn't fully excuse the kid, but it makes sense.
Sofia Ramos Cordero But I said it doesn't fully excuse him, because he is clearly somewhat aware of what he's doing. I don't think he's at fault even 10%, but I do think that 5% of him is slightly aware.
Sofia Ramos Cordero I do slightly agree, however, no one is 100% sure of what caused him to be that way. Whether from birth or because of trauma. So neither of us are totally right. However, I will agree that he clearly needs some appropriate medical/mental attention & shouldn't be held responsible for his actions until he's had a proper diagnosis.
Yeah, I understand that he has real mental health problem but still to say plushies are more important than family is concerning and I don't think its 100% excusable to think like that at his age even if you have mental problems. He otherwise seems like a good kid as his friends say he is pretty good but his relationship with his family is concerning.
Jin has a very open personality he gets along well with others even if he just met them. He knows how to socialize, he's funny and cute. I wish I could see him having his own show like Travel and Eating shows of Korea. I would watch it.

I love Youngja. Many times, I feel like she's the only one of the MCs who actually understands the guest's struggles but refrains from speaking out much maybe because the other MCs clearly have different opinions, or because it's a variety show. Her empathy makes these episodes easier to watch for me. I feel like I can relate to the 2nd girl so much and what Youngja said about parents needing to apologize sometimes in order for the children to be released from their personal cages touched me.

i think this girl has depression and she is not lazy.When i had depression ( 1 year ago) i slept 14 hours and i was in school from time to time ,i was not helping my mom she was angry at me all the time ,but even normal, everyday things were hard for me ( eating, washing, meeting friends) plus i had social anxiety ...so i understand her (sorry for my english )

true. i just think there was some deeper problem in this case. I'm also not satisfied with the dad. the way she instinctively withdrew whenever he tried to make contact was painful to watch. also i feel sorry for the aunt for being caught up in this. still doubtful over her dad though what with lying about having a woman's heart.
yeah I agree, he seemed to be playing the loving father and that he was just bad at expressing himself, but the expressions of the girl and her reactions when he spoke suggests that he was lying or hiding something..

v v This was my problem too! elementary to high school I had no motivation for anything due to depression and anxiety. I would always get lectured by my mom for being lazy and I used to skip school a lot up until high school which would get me in trouble. People just thought I was lazy but even the easiest tasks drained me to no end so living like a normal student was hard on me. I've seen improvement after I graduated though. I clean my room and vaccum it each week, clean my hamsters cage each week, wash the dishes and make dinner a couple times a week and shower regularly (all of this on top of working and being a full time student). It seems like nothing and just normal and easy tasks but for someone with depression even showering everyday requires lots of motivation. It's seriously awful :(

The audience didn't really seem to understand why Jin and Jimin gave those compliments but they both had reasons, they weren't just random. Jin complimented her skin so much because the girl had mentioned how she always got bullied and teased for having darker skin. Jimin complimented her eyes because the aunt had told them that the girl had called them small and ugly before. Those two are angels. Also, I understand that the MC's were trying to make it light hearted but they should of taken it a tad bit more serious. The girl in the pink jacket CLEARLY had many problems, from the throwing up, to being bullied, to her dad abusing her. I was disgusted on how they used that joke on her throwing up, it was something along the lines of 'Oh wow, maybe I should try throwing up' because the girl was very skinny. And you could see how furious Jimin was at that guy for saying he cared more about his plushies than his sister. Honestly, the MC's took the plushie one more seriously than the girl in the pink jacket (and they didn't even take it that seriously). Sorry, I just really needed to express my feelings and I know that this was made ages ago
couldn't agree more, it was sickening and you could clearly see jin & jimin's discomfort. im thankful they gave her those specific compliments, it's obvious she needed them, more than ever♡ though her mum seemed to genuinely be concerned, her aunt came off as self absorbed. i get her wanting more help, especially since she supports her niece to such an extent, but her dismissive attitude towards her niece's signs of depression... just, uugh. what truly infuriated me, was people laughing at the dad's attempt to "love" his daughter. just by her body language alone, there is something much more disturbing going on with that and it should have been taken seriously. this show was some time ago and i sincerely hope this girl has escaped her fucking toxic environment and is in a healthier state of mind 💔

Jimin said after the show that he enjoyed it more because Jin was there and had chemistry with the other hosts. We all know Jimin laughs the most at Jin's dad jokes. He may have been a little embarrassed but he knows how Jin is and I think he had way more fun than embarrassment.

tbh jimin was the most useful one in this episode. He actually thought over the problems and gave good advice even if it could seem harsh. You'd also notice he was immediately ready to compliment the girl about her eyes bc her aunt previously said she had called them ugly and small.

The fact that jin did actually broke the tension and we could see the girl starting to get a slight panic attack and his joke just calmed her down. I think jin understands her position because he himself says that when people directly pay attention to him, his ears get red and I think he sensed that the girl was getting very uncomfortable with all the attention on her. I really applaud Jin for that.

I wish beyond this show, these people (especially the girl with the glasses), saw proper therapists to help them work through their issues. The hosts made some very salient observations on the behavioral patterns of their guests. However, even though this is a good starting point because it brings to surface ways the guests never imagined they were hurting their loved ones, they clearly have more deep-rooted concerns that need to be unravelled beyond the 15 minutes of entertainment they give in these shows. Props to Jin and Jimin for their contributions as well. I came to watch this video because of them

Maanya A lot of people misunderstand Jin. If you listen to his solo song 'Awake' and read the translation you can tell he's not confident at all. He worries about keeping up with everyone else, but still wants to move forward with his members. He always thinks he's the least talented in the group. A lot of people say he can't really dance or sing well, and he always has the least amount of lines in songs. The only thing he had confidence in was his face, since he's the visual. That's why he probably flaunts it so much, even as a joke haha. Personally, I really love Jin's voice the most out of all the members, I find it very attractive. He's so funny and charismatic -- Jin is seriously underrated

Joan Stewart I agree with you so much and I think they completely overlooked possible mental illness in regards to the boy's actions, as well as the struggles he's going through due to his parents not being around. I feel really bad because I know the feeling, trying to find solace and comfort in something as a result of loneliness. I really wish they'd chosen Suga or even Jungkook for this episode as they've both gone through depression and social anxiety, I feel like they would have understood the situation better.

It honestly seemed to me that besides the people coming onto the show for "counseling", Jimin was the most serious. He had a lot of worried smiles and at times smiled/laughed so he didn't seem rude to the MC's and the owners of the show. He also laughed in disbelief at times and even though he looked happy, he also looked pissed. If that makes sense.

Honestly, Jin and Jimin were the only ones that actually took the problems into consideration and gave good advice. You can plainly see how concerned and uncomfortable they are, while the other hosts just laugh off these very serious problems.
Hyebin very likely has been abused by her father - she flinched really hard away from him, and we only know one instance of abuse, but there could be a lot more - and could have severe mental issues that cause her to be so anxious and have such low self esteem, probably depression, and all they can say is that she should just be more confident, and maybe they should start throwing up too. That's just terribly insensitive. I love how Jin and Jimin made a point of complimenting the very things she was insecure about - her skin and eyes.
With the boy who loves plushies more than his own family, everyone just laughed about it, made him apologize, and talked more about his plushies and acting goals than the actual problem - he treats his inanimate toys better than his living family. I could see that Jimin was absolutely furious, and his and Jin's advice actually addressed the problem, and tried to correct him.
jin was still his usual self, but he really looked like he wanted to help. they were both really paying attention, especially jimin

I'm like this with my parents too unfortunately. I didn't receive much affection or positive attention growing up, so it feels very unnatural now if they try to touch or hug me (I'm even in my late 20s now and the feeling hasn't faded)

I feel like yoongi is the best person to be on this show because he has researched a lot about psychology and knows how to tackle such situation with those people making jokes..I like how Jin and Jimin stayed quiet to not make jokes in such sensitive matters because they require professional help and actually gave good advice when needed. They have an empathetic nature especially Jimin, the rest were so insensitive.
International fans seem to misunderstand this show : this is not an actual counseling session. This is a competition. People come, talk about their problem, those who have it the worst win and receive money. This is what the show is about.
This is a weird and questionable concept, and it gets very problematic when it involves kids who most likely can't refuse to go with their family or don't realize what they are exposing themselves to, but the people participating are not going to that show expecting meaningful help or life-changing advices.
The cast and the guests are not there to identify which mental issues people are dealing with nor to provide in-depth advices to families who are struggling. None of them is qualified to do that as there are no counselor among them. The fixed cast is there to entertain and the guests are there to give a few words of advice or encouragement and to vote for who they think have it the worst.
I am saying this because a lot of people here are commenting on the fact that the guests failed to realize that the first man might have ocds, that the second girl could be depressed and that the last boy might have been neurodivergent, but the truth is that none of the guests should be making that kind of assumptions in the first place (and if we're being realistic: we, viewers in the KRplus comments, also shouldn't). They are idols and actors guesting on an entertainment show, they can't and shouldn't be diagnosing anyone based on the stories shared on set. Stories that are meant to give context and entertain more than they are meant to be interpreted (because again, this is not a real counseling session). Some of those stories are most likely not even true, former participants have revealed that they were requested to exaggerate and lie for drama or comedic purposes. Hello Counselor was, like any other variety show from KBS, a scripted show at the end of the day.
That is not to say those issues shouldn't be taken seriously (they should, making jokes out of them - even if they're exaggerated or fake - just contributes to trivializing serious topics) or that the cast is blameless, but them only giving 'surface' advice and not commenting on the possible mental illnesses of the participants is just what they are supposed to do.
Leave the diagnosis to the actual counselors the participants were supposedly encouraged to consult (according to the producers of the show).

But I don't think her dad has done anything that's unusual in their regular days too! I mean I used to hate my dad and I usually got scared everytime I'm on his sight and the thing is he has done nothing wrong! It's the problem with me that no matter how many times I try, I couldn't like my dad or even his slightest sight around me! I was like that since I was really very young and that was my major issue in life! I always used to think how would I get rid of him and then question myself why can't I like him! As slowly time passed by, years after years, I came to start realizing what I am doing is wrong by hating my own dad with NO real reason! I started getting normal with him as I tried really hard to understand him! There's time when you have these emotional issues without any reason and that totally isn't anyone's fault! I hope she's better now that time changes everything and everyone gradually! Ps: I felt her dad and my dad to be similar and on the same boat! From what I concluded from listening to the mother and watching his behavior there are several things that I'm concern about. Everyone to their opinions and what not, but I want to share mine about his situation.
1. The mother said that she gave him everything he ever wanted, but it sounds like she just buy him toys but never emotionally be there for him. No one would be that relying to plush toys at around tha age unless they went through extreme isolation/loneliness. Even if you can have everything you want, but lacking in emotional support and nurture can be detrimental on a child's mental health. Which also brought me to my second point.
2. The boy himself has some abnormal behaviors. He seems to have difficulty sympathize with others or understanding of others' emotions, he had a blank look on his face almost the entire time even socializing and talking with others. He seems to struggle a little with his speech, and he seems almost distracted every time others are speaking to him. These are signs that I found commonly point to mild autism, but I won't say it definitely and would prefer someone who has more knowledge about this than me to confirm or clarify it.
3. He completely unable to distinction between right and wrong despite the fact that he can recognize positive reinforcement (can only play after finishing homework). He doesn't think that leaving plushies various places on the ground is wrong. He doesn't think that blocking up his sister's door room is wrong. He also has very bad anger break outs, which also linked to mental health issues, and that he used a pen to draw on his hand when being scolded. It is almost a close call of suicidal tendency (I did that before also when I went through some rough patch and really just wanted everything to end) and found commonly also on patients with mental illness.
I definitely agree with you that I can't blame Jimin for being angry at the boy's answer. But the boy's being honest, because he doesn't see the answer being the wrong choice (refer to reason #2)
They need to take him to a psychologist or counselor. May be he have autism or other mental illness.
