Red Velvet has no cute concept. That's a misconception to them. RV has vibrant concept instead, that's their red side. Hope RV songs will be given justice in the future. 😭😭😭

I will agree. I think it's the "trend" thinking. Maybe because they think it is on the Aegyo trend but it's more of a complex song. It should show happiness, not cuteness. No wonder many love Red Flavor due to it making people happy and feel refreshed. Unlike the cutesy concepts which makes you cringe unless it's not over the top cute.
Their voices will not suit twice songs. There’s a reason almost no groups cover twice songs in its original arrangement. It’s harder than people think and people underestimate twice’s vocal capabilities.

Tbh the first one (the one at the training stuff) its veeeeery different than the one ots, the first is more red velvet like and the stage more cutesy like, so I think they supposed to do better but the trainer make them change it at make it more cutesy

The line is divided in 3 parts, give her the first and the third, the blonde gets the second so the brunette can handle the third one better and everyone takes the chanting (that strawberry part). It was better before the teachers gave their input....they kept talking about it needing to be refreshing but it seems as the final result they're confusing refreshing with cute. Red Flavor is a really refreshing song indeed, but the only person who came close to suiting the songs tone is 아이 (I). I like that they tried to make it their own, but sadly this is a case where they shouldn't have done that, Red Velvet's concepts are too unique to try and venture into another concept. None of their songs or dances work with cute expressions or cute tonality...Yeri just naturally has a cutsie higher voice but even then she doesn't try at all to be cute, she uses her full natural voice to fit Red Velvets vocal concept. But I blame this on the judges/teachers....
I had to rewatch RV's performance of this. I don't recall them doing much or any aegyo at all. They give off a natural entrancing vibe without trying.

I hate how the dance coach said theres too much going on. Obviously theres gonna be alot going on, this team is doing a choreo thats originally for 5 people, no matter what they do its going to look hectic b/c the dance is already jumpy and energetic and the stage is crowded with 9 people. I have a feeling that when she said to simplify it, they decided to completely tone down the dancing and made everything cutesy which hurt their performance.

It’s a good thing to see a cover of red flavor because this song is a bop. I really appreciate their hard work. It’s not an easy song to perform. Actually i’m really glad they did it in a different way, since it’s a cover so they don’t need to do it exactly the same as red velvet did because they’re not red velvet. I hope people could give them some supportive comments rather than being harsh on them 😃

Red velvet's voices aren't so high, their voices are powerful, especially Wendy. And I cringed when they did Irene's part. Not hating on the girls or anything but red velvet did much better

Ai's technique is probably the best suited for the song, not too cutesy and is a chest voice. Yebin's voice falsetto and is quite bad technique, hence the unstableness and squeakiness. A lot of its pretty bad, but the part where Yebin replaced Ai's line just did it for me. Ai should've gotten the lines.
And this is overdone. Drawback the aegyo because Rv did not comeback with this song with extreme cutesy in mind.

What saves this performance is that they were all very confident in what they were doing, even if it seemed unnatural. I’ve said the same about the Gee team, I wish the girls realized that they are naturally pretty and charismatic, and their natural charms are perfect and refreshing. Unfortunately, they’ve probably been told that some of them aren’t “cute enough”, or that they aren’t “eye catching” on stage. Even though that’s obviously not true.
I feel like they would’ve done really well shifting the key of the song, perhaps doing an instrumental that was completely band instruments (instead of electronic sounds), for a bit of a deeper, softer song that still fits in with the theme of summer. Shifting the key would make it compliment their voices more, as most of them have husky, deeper voices, some of them having soft voices. With this, they could wear sweet and flowy outfits that resemble the really nice coverups for swimwear on the beach. This version of the concept wouldn’t make them feel like had to force themselves to be cute. It would also make the rap verse much cooler, like in the original. This would just be much more comfortable for all of them.
