Break core is something like being in a dark and torn inside state of preteenage depression. Balancing on the edges of so many sharp things of reality, running faster and faster trying to escape the pain coming from each step. Just wanna dig inside colorful but grim pillow castle, caught between a growing body and the mind of a child. Things just happens and you don't really understand. This feelings I got back then, sharing it with my best friend, but being alone inside. Got stuck in anxiety, run away and crash into new darkness again, escaping back to childhood, where everything seems more easy.... oh wish this music was a thing so many years ago.

Same here, the art really caught my eye and the the songs just kinda got me hooked
This mix is the first time I've ever heard of breakcore 3 months ago, and has single handedly ruined every conversation I've had about music since then. I have become insufferable and generally fuck up the vibes at a hang.
It may have not had a name, but this sound has been around since at least the early 90's. It was big in clubs for a bit, around the time of Prodigy for example, and was also big around the same time 3D videogames were starting development.
This is why some breakcore mixes start with the expansive PS1 synth startup jingle.

Breakcore and Jungle are underrated. I love both so much. There's a video that's a live show of an artist/dj called Tasha, I forgot the venue but you can probably just search "Tasha jungle live" or something and find it. That's peak jungle for me.
Peak breakcore is like 90% of all of it lol, these mixes on youtube has proven that to me. S tier genre

I can't explain why a subgenre that didn't exist until a few years ago feels so nostalgic.
Many of these songs are from the 2000s. Breakcore has been a thing since before Y2K.

I had been wondering what the name for this sound would be, ever since I first heard it in at least a dozen Playstation games, or dance club combinations.
Breakbeat like Squarepusher isn't exactly this, so it wasn't satisfying.
Sewerslvt makes this music today, but I don't think they call their own genre Breakcore, last I listened.
Breakcore is a great genre name. And it fits the same crowd that already likes Nightcore.
I don't even know how I found breakcore but it's sounds just great!

@@sofchan4884 yes, it is! it's dnb (some songs are "breakcore-ish", like "goreshit - nhk!?" and "Loli in early 20s - Tayru Mu"). still a good playlist tho.
breakcore is more of the experimental genre, so it sound way different. if you're interested in breakcore, you should listen to Venetian Snares, Igorrr or Ruby My Dear. they are my favourite producers

You know, sometimes I hate that I found breakcore because ever since then my mind has become more skewed than before. On the bus I see severed heads, flesh trees, and blood dripping from the roof of the bus. You can’t really tell this to anyone because they would find you weird and messed up.
