Kings and Generals began remaking its animated historical documentary on the history of the Ottoman empire with the early rise of the Ottoman beylik under Osman I. In the first video we covered the early origins of the beylik, its status among the Muslim states in Anatolia and its early clashes against the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire at Bapheus and Dimbos in 1302 ( • Rise of the Ottoman Em... ). The second episode showed how a tiny beylik became a regional power with the continued battles against the Byzantine empire and other states, including the siege of Prusa (Bursa) between 1317 and 1326 and the battle of Pelekanon of 1329 ( • How the Ottomans Took ... ). As the Ottoman entered the Balkans, they had to face the Serbian Empire and the Second Bulgarian Empire, leading to the battles like Maritsa in 1371 ( • Maritsa 1371 - End of ... ). The Ottomans continued expanding both in Europe and Asia, leading to the conflicts with many states, including the Karamanids, culminating at the battle of Frenkyazisi in 1387. In this series we are planning to cover every major battle of the Ottoman empire, including Kosovo, Nicopolis, Ankara, Varna, 2nd Kosovo, Constantinople, Belgrade, Targoviste, Otlukbeli, Vaslui, Valea Alba, Skanderbeg's rebellion, Breadfield, Krbava, Otranto, Chaldiran, the Ottoman-Mamluk War of 1516-1517, siege of Rhodes in 1522, Mohacs of 1526, Vienna of 1529, Preveza, Gorjani, Castelnuovo, Buda, Eger, Malta, Szigetvar, Famagusta, Lepanto and much, much more!

Can you pleassssse make a series on the Anglo-Ashanti Wars? Four wars that spanned a century (1806 - 1901), making it the longest colonial war in Africa. And there's a ton of info on it.

@@historictubeedits They probably will, it got them many views and its an interesting time period. They simply have so many things they are working on at once that there is time between their releases.
The pacific war, ukranian history, post-caesar civil wars, early muslim expansion, ottoman history, the first crusade, italian wars, and much more are all stuff they have been working on so we have to give it time.
This channel has a lot of stuff they have been working on as well as side channels like the fantasy one so we should just wait, they will probably get around to it.

Murad definitely comes off as a ruler of rare talent, level-headed, focused, patient, but not wantonly ambitious or aggressive. Like the type of player to whom the strongest move seems obvious. Reminds me a bit of Charles V/I of Austrias/Spain. A sober strategist who knows when to project strength but without causing undue bloodshed; when to fight and when to breathe.
He is a rarity even amongst the early Ottoman sultans
Stable growth is a key to long lasting empires. Empires that grow too quickly with massive territorial conquest tend to be unstable and easily fall apart.
I think he is the best of Ottoman sultan. Mehmed II may had bigger achievements but Murad faced a lot of challanges during his reign

Murad the "1st" really lived up to his name ; the first Ottoman ruler born to a non-Turkish mother (Roman) as well as being the first (and last) Ottoman ruler to be killed in battle
Bayezid was the main factor that won the battles in Kosovo and the Frenkyazisi
Technically, Suleyman died during 'the battle' while he still in the tent, yildrim bayezid can be considered died in battle as well... As he later perished in captivity after losing to timur

Talk about a deep cut historical event! I've been enjoying this series a lot. Normally only a few highlights are ever talked about, usually the big battles in the Balkans so it's nice to see some detailed depiction of the events during the early Ottoman period...
The Byzantine rulers seem to be the biggest idiots in history.
1. John V has to be a vassal because of previous emperors' idiocy.
2. His son Andronikos doesn't like this, and deposes his father because of it. Loses, and gets half blinded. Then he goes to the guy he doesn't like being the vassal of, lends an army, deposes his father and gives his true enemy a highly important peninsula as a reward, as well as sparking war with Venice when he gives away Tenedos to the Genoese.
3. His father lends another Turkish army to depose his son once again. Succeeds, and gives away the last Byzantine holding in Anatolia to their truest enemies ever.
So. What was gained? The title of emperor shifted from father to son, and back to father. Aka, nothing.
What was lost? Gallipoli, Tenedos and Philadelphia. And Constantinople was besieged, and the weak Byzantine empire is now at war with Venice, and has no power, so it simply has to sit and wait to be attacked.
I follow KG, History Marche, and several other channels, and my impression is that besides a small collection of competent generals and emperors, the Byzantine leadership was the most incompetent in the entire history of the world, when comparing to expectations given Byzantium's wealth and power.

Ottoman campaign in the Balkans is very impressive,
Ottomans are manly known for conquering Constantinople but Ottomans conquest in all of the Balkans in just a century is much more impressive
Ashoka the based And more importantly, these conquests were not short-lived and temporary like the Timurid and Mongolian conquests. They entered a region with so many different ethnic and religious structures as a foreign power belonging to different cultural-religious codes and ruled these lands for 600 years which is much more epic.
They started only 400 families
They just took divided destroyed regions not really much of an achievement i heard there was black plug that had killed most of population when they invaded
Murad I and his son Bayezid I both are extraordinary commanders, both have magnificent victories

As the fourteenth century wore on, the Ottomans continued to expand into territory that had not seen Muslim armies since the Umayyad raids on Constantinople almost 700 years before. In the 1350s, the Ottomans crossed the Dardanelles Straits into Europe for the first time. Taking advantage of Byzantine disunity in the region, Sultan Orhan, and later his son, Murad I. were able to firmly establish Ottoman authority in parts of Thrace. The Turks, with their nomadic history, managed to easily move entire families and tribes into the new European frontier and establish new towns throughout the conquered lands. This huge demographic move- ment gave the Ottomans stability in an area that would have oth- erwise been a challenge to manage.
This channel consistently delivers the highest quality history videos I’ve seen. Appropriate music that never distracts, excellent visuals and graphics, and narration that always holds my attention (despite my very short attention span). I will say this - the reason I didn’t subscribe to the channel sooner is because of the channel’s name - “Kings and Generals.” I was looking for a world history channel that covers ALL facets of history and is not restricted to any specific time period(s). A very “broad” world history channel, in other words. Thankfully, much more than just specific “kings” and “generals” is discussed here. In fact, I am not sure this channel has any (self-imposed) constraints. Are there any topics, geographical areas, time periods and/or people that you WON’T cover? I’m curious. Anyway, this is another great video (though only 20 minutes long) and thank you for continually providing this middle American (Iowa) old man with new, thought-provoking history lessons. I’ve learned a lot.
After Osman Gazi his son Orhan Gazi really expanded the clan/beylik into a strong, big and multi ethnical state which made way for an upcoming empire after his grandsons captured Constantinople nowadays Istanbul. Would love to see more about Orhan Gazi
Many rulers of Algeria during Ottoman era were Turks from karamania, they disobeyed the sultan many times before declaring de facto independence from Ottoman Empire (yet still recognised the sultan as caliph)

Little mistake, Battle of Savra was fought between Serbian lords and Ottoman, not Albanians and Ottomans( serbian lords had land in present Albania at that time)

I am totally surprised that if you produce more than 3 videos a week, the total numbers of views goes down. If you produced 7 videos a week, I would watch all of them. Your videos are very high in quality. I don't understand why your fans wouldn't watch them all. Bayezid was really good in battles. (Frenkyazisi-Kosovo-Rovine-Nicolpolis) He was a battle master. He was defeated in the Battle of Ankara thanks to betrayals. Otherwise there is no doubt that he is a great general
I hope you don't wanna say that Amir Timur was a worse commander than Bayezid. But it is a shame that two Turks fought against each other because of irrogance of Bayezid.

It's absurd how the downsized Eastern Roman Empire had still enough energy to fight a civil war.
In a study revealed by Alexander Lyon Mcfie in his book The End of the Ottoman Empire (2014), on the economic and social history of the Ottoman Turks, it unstoppable military was found that throughout force.

As info, The word Frenk used for refering catholic christians or western europeans in general. Similar corresponding words can be found in different European languages to refer a regional people in general.

There was one Turkic Jewish empire before. Actually the Khan converted to Judaism so um not sure if you could call it a Jewish state it was named Khazar khanate

@@MerdoKhan1905 It is said that Oghuz tribes (including Seljuks) were originally a part of Khazar empire. So some rulers may have been Jewish before they converted to Islam. Hence why some early Seljuks had names of Jewish Prophets (Musa, Suleman, Daud etc.)
If you check the Catalan Atlas, all the beyliks had 6 point star flags (not banners). The history of Anatolian Beyliks split into 2, first phase and second phase. First phase is the arrival of Turks into Anatolia and poweful Seljuk generals and Beys carving out their own territory. Seconf phase begins with the fall of Sultanate of Rum and withdrawal of Ilkhanate Mongols from Anatolia. A VERY VERY weird thing is that, first phase beyliks had nothing jewish about them, but with the second phase beyliks suddenly all their flags are 6 point stars. Exceptions are Ottoman, Eretna and Aydin beyliks. The rest had it. Karaman, Teke, Menteşe, Candar, Hamid etc. Also Ramazan and Dulkadir (also second phase beyliks) had arabic writings on their flags because beys were landed by the Mamluke sultanate so they followed their coat of arms traditions.
