Guys I just watched it and it’s great, it sticks to the caveman thing and the overall theme. For example it doesn’t completely change from the first movie. I usually don’t like sequels cause they always change everything. Plus this even makes sense because you know cavemen evolved and learned new things. I’m glad they didn’t add unnecessary things like other new cartoon movies. They always add some hip hop rap song, and famous voice actors, and basically every modern shit to every exist. I’m glad this didn’t turn out like it, I’m glad everything stayed the same. Anyways, it was good.

@M. Cuellar it was meant to release back in 2017, but it was removed from the release schedule after the acquisition of DreamWorks, and later revealed ti be cancelled. However, a couple of years later, Universal and DreamWorks revealed the film was back in production. And the of course the pandemic shifted to everyone working from home, but I'm pretty sure it was mostly done by then anyway to release in November.
That moment you realize the Croods gets a sequel but not Rise of the Guardians.

This review hits the nail on the head when it comes to finding a good balance in the movie between humor and heartfelt moments, between children friendly and watchable for adults. The writer's attitude and awareness of their audience is definitely seen through-out the writing. I, as a young adult enjoyed the movie and I completely agree it would be enjoyable for kids and even for parents for a family movie night. As you mentioned, the movie is partially truth-filled as it shows struggles in a family and in relationships and different ways the Croods family overcome those difficulties. I would also agree that the movie was skillfully developed and had great casting for the voices with a well written script. As stated, there is some potty humor and slight violence but nothing too crazy. Since it is a children's movie and a cartoon, there really is no deep way to look into how they treated the characters or actors so the dignity of the human person was upheld. As a family movie focused on the strength of family and unity, the movie was written with motivation towards real life experiences that were targeted at a family's emotions and actions and that was portrayed nicely throughout the movie. Since it is a cartoon, from a Christian perspective, there was nothing that was deeply inspiring that would lead the audience to pursue virtue and draw them closer to God but possibly closer as a family. Definitely a well rounded review for a parent or even older kid to look at before viewing the movie if choosing to do so.

As a short filmmaker and producer we know how much it is tough to make an animated short film but the croods made an animated feature film with a nice content too hats off to the team. Expecting The croods 2 to be as amazing as the part 1 was.

@@ruffswami7853 I believe in some ways it is. The lighting is a major step up since it uses realistic volumetric lighting (where light bounces off of objects). But if you look at these trailers back to back you will see that the sequel has a much more cartoon approach to its more gritty predecessor. This makes be a bit sad.
The first Croods has some of my favorite animation out of all dreamworks movies. Characters and surroundings had a lot of texture. This movie looks like a step backwards into the Boss Baby dimension.
