KURT just cemented why Mahomes is a top tier QB in the class of Brady, Manning and the like... Throw in his ability to throw from all the different angles and on the run to either side of the field and that solidifies him as the best in the game today... Last year Mahomes / the Chief Offense "struggled" all year, yet were in the top 5 in QB / Offense stats all year... They went from starting out 3-4 to have the number 1 seed as theirs to lose (and yes, they lost it) with 2 games left in the season, and hosted the AFC Championship Game for the 4th straight year as a starter... Most every team in the NFL would love to have a struggling QB / Offense like KC had last year... I figure that defensive coordinator has probably lost to Mahomes every time his team has played against him, and he is just mad and making derogatory comments to make himself feel better... Catches it for an 8 yard gain, jumps backwards trying to make a big play. Turns into a 6 yard gain. Now replace that with a bigger WR (which they have this year) teams were taking away the deep stuff anyways with 2 deep safeties all year last year and same for this year). Bigger WR catches it for 8 yards. Maybe falls forward for 9 or 10 and a first down.

They said it was a defensive guy that gave that quote... If defensive pros have watched so little film that they actually believe Mahomes is a 1 read qb, then that explains why he's putting up and average of 28 points a game in his worst year. One of the stupidest things I've ever heard and honestly the defensive coach that said that should be fired because he either doesn't watch any film at all, or he is completely incompetent and can't make any sense of what he sees on film.

As a reminder this was against the unanimously-anointed BEST defense in the NFL in 2021, finishing first in:
    1. Scoring (17 ppg) - Chiefs scored 42
    2. Total defense (273 ypg) - Chiefs had over double that, 560
    3. Passing (163 ypg) - Mahomes went for 378
    4. Total yards per play (4.6 yards) - Chiefs had 7.9
    5. Passing yards per play (4.65 yards) - Chiefs had 8.6
    6. First downs allowed per game (under 17) - Chiefs had 30
    7. Third down conversion rate allowed (31%) - Chiefs converted 3rd downs at 62%
Meanwhile Josh Allen was going against Kansas City's vaunted 26th ranked defense without their excellent nickel corner Rashad Fenton, while Buffalo's entire team was healthy and super confident after demoralizing the Patriots 47-17. And guess who was brutalized by Buffalo's WRs down the stretch of that game? Deandre Baker, Mike Hughes, and Armani Watts subbing in within those nickel packages.
    Mahomes is that dude.
