Ohai! I’m Philipp, the founder and head writer of Kurzgesagt and author of IMMUNE! Let me say a few words about it: IMMUNE is older than Kurzgesagt and I began working on it about a decade ago in university. The idea was to explore a super important but also extremely misunderstood and complicated topic and “translate” it into a language everybody could understand. I’ve done my best to basically write a super long Kurzgesagt video but with less of the limitations of a ten minute video.
IMMUNE is a fascinating and fun journey through your own body, together we’ll be exploring mystery organs, murder universities, your enemies from viruses, bacteria and cancer (and how your immune system might have killed a cancer cell while you were reading the last few sentences) and the incredibly beautiful and amazing parts, cells and systems that keep you alive. After reading it you should not only gain a new appreciation for your own body but also experience disease differently. A flu or something more serious will not be this abstract thing but something you can sort of witness and imagine which mechanisms are active and which cells are doing what. At least personally, knowing how the immune system works always has given me great comfort when I felt unwell. Also 45 illustrated pages by the Kurzgesagt team make the book very pretty.
Preorders are incredibly important in the world of books so if you are considering getting it, it would mean a lot if you could do that. Because preorders determine if a publisher will try to get the book into bookstores, so a lot of the book’s success depends on it.

@@Ghoul_tube In literally the first video Kurzgesagt made (which was about evolution), in one part they made a big dramatised scene about a pair of animals mating, and even though it was obviously censored, the implications of it are painfully obvious, and there's no way they could've guessed that would show up from the title. And since it's an educational channel, if her son wasn't to know anything that was going on, it would all be pretty useless. Also in the homeopathy video, just look, I think it had something I don't even want to talk about. I'm just trying to give caution since she wouldn't expect it at all.

Yes! I love this! Since the book's anouncement I've been working on making a videogame where players can control the immune system and protect a person from infections and cancer as they grow and age. I've put 250 hours on it so far and will keep working on it until it's finished (I'm a biologist and had been dreaming of a game like that for years). If anyone reading this has ideas for the game, please leave a comment and I'll consider them.
I think it would also be amazing if the Kurzgesagt team wanted to collaborate so the game could have their artstyle and complement the book. I'll try to reach them soon.

Ooooh, I've always dreamed of a game like that, a game about the immune system!
The narration of the material is still engaging even when there's no background music behind it or motion graphics in front of it. I wouldn't mind listening to Kurzgesagt audiobooks while drawing or in the car.

I got the book for Christmas, and it's awesome! It really explains all the basic principles so well and in a way you can remember easily, without all the truely terrible technical terms. It's great you can make science so wonderfully understandable and fun, not only in videos, but also in a huge book!

Well I don't know about you, but when I'm reading something and don't want to consume the text in the usual generic way, I can actively imagine it being read to me in a particular person's voice. I'll have to use my imagination for the hard copy, but I've seen enough Kurzgesagt videos to really solidify the narrator's voice in my head, so it shouldn't be too difficult. Maybe you can try this?

I loved the books written by Stephen hawking about the children that had a super computer that could teleport them anywhere in the universe, and "de doos van licht, lucht en liefde"(dutch title) translated to English: "the box of light, sky and love" about all the elements on the periodic table

I preordered and waited half a year for this book to arrive. As a graphic designer myself, i can honestly say that this is one of the most well-designed and well-printed books I've ever had, and it's worth so much more than how much it's currently priced. Part of me feels extremely lucky, and even privileged, that of all the time in human history, I'm living in the time when Kurzgesagt exists.

I first heard about Kurzgesagt when I was in my 3rd year of secondary school, the biology teacher we had used one of your older videos to show how breeding works, and from there I started watching your channel!
I told the wife to consider pre-ordering it as a gift for my upcoming birthday, and listening to this preview now it makes me wonder if an audiobook version will be recorded as well? It would be fantastic to hear a full audiobook recorded much like this preview!

Pre-ordering this book was probably the most rapid decision I made in my life. I just knew you put everything in it. I am also one of those who get sick so much more than regular people, doctors turn their back (cause most of them just don't care) and I need both to show you my admiration and to have a precious thing I will probably read hundreds of times.
I'm taking university-level immunology right now and it's definitely been one of the hardest but best classes I've taken thus far. It combines so many disciplines like cell biology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, genetics, microbiology, and so much more. I have been watching your videos for so long now and I can't express how much I appreciate all the work the team does. Definitely going to be pre-ordering the book to support the channel and read up on this great book!
If you dont mind where do you study Immunology? I want to pursue a career in it as well and I'm looking for multiple options as of right now. I'm a second usar bachelor student, albeit having this core mindset since 10th grade (5 years now). I would love to know more details regarding your University, and how you cope with all of it!!
