I am not from the USA. To me this pandemic is like a worldwide drop of a curtain that reveals what each country is about. And the curtain of the "American dream" has dropped to reveal just how elitist, arrogant, unequal and incompetent USA politics is. I am truly sorry for the people who have to suffer. The fact that they can be diagnosed with the virus and left on their own (to infect others and die) because their hospital stay will cost as much as a Caribbean cruise or a new car... it's insanity. No paid sick leaves, no universal healthcare, no loss of employment prevention. Trickle-down economics my ass.

This reminds me of a joke my grandfather used to say:
A guy went to his neighbor's house and there was rainwater coming in through a hole in the roof, so he asked why he doesn't fix it. And the neighbor said "It's raining out, I can't fix it now".
So he asked why he doesn't fix it when it's not raining out, and he said "Well, when it's not raining out there isn't water coming in, so I'm not worried about it...".

Still life imagery is rarely something that speaks emotional volumes, it showcases the intricacies in everyday objects. An ex of mine once painted pairs of scissors. You're meant to appreciate aspects you pass off when it's not painted, like the colors or shadows or texturing. You also, conveniently, want to make sure it's something that not everyone else is doing, so everyone picks something different, for the most part.

Parts of you that she absolutely must perv on cuz she married you, which is kinky in itself. A woman basically said she found the one that fits her, forevs. Letting her in, so she can feel her part in it and deal with that twisted feeling. her own way, yet together, is just top shelf spousal play.
It's like, the text you want her to 'catch' on screen on the couch, only to see it's all about getting her between the two of you flirting away about the things you want to do with her, because she's just so curious. I make shit money, while I wake up every morning at 6am to go to work, risking my health, to serve fucking frostys to people who just *had* to leave their house for damn ice cream.
Even better, Wendy's was given a loan from the government to give out "bonuses" to their workers, and if they didn't give us the bonus, they'd have to pay it back, so yesterday I got my "bonus" for risking my health for a shit company and it was only 140$ because they chose to pay us based off of ONE week of work, instead of the now months we've been working during this.

Just a quick point: Masks yes, gloves no. Gloves do nothing but transfer contamination from one surface to another. You do not contract COVID through the skin on your hands. Hand sanitiser is not designed to be used on latex, it is designed to be used on skin. It can actually degrade the latex and make it more prone to transfer infection. As well as a mask everyone should be carrying some sort hand sanitiser. Gloves should not be worn outside of healthcare settings (where there are very strict procedures, training, and guidelines/indications for PPE) unless dealing with specific risks like chemical exposure or blood/body fluid exposure. Just wash and sanitise your hands like crazy. To protect yourself, and protect others. All gloves do is prevent people from practicing correct hand hygiene.

Meanwhile, in Europe, countries worked in January and February to pass packages that paid *employers* up to 80% of the cost of their employees' wages if they DID NOT lay them off. But Trump was too busy then telling everybody it was under control -- that there "was only 15 cases and in two weeks it was going to be like zero" (sic.) only to gaslight the nation a month later with this crap about how he always took it seriously.

I work in healthcare (front desk receptionist I’m not a hero). I used to work Monday nights were we saw patients with symptoms of Covid for testing. I was actively exposing myself to them. I did have the proper PPE on (double masked, googles, and plastic shields between me and the patients) and I was sanitizing once an hour during that 3 hour overtime shift and patients were not allowed to come within 6 feet of me. I NEVER GOT COVID! I am extremely lucky. Also my employer gave us extra money in our holiday bonus. I’m talking hundreds of dollars for me alone! I told my bf that I wasn’t doing anything special and that I’m just happy to help. He then told me that I am “an essential worker and I am putting my life on the line to help these people. The bonus I got is also kinda hazard pay.” I started crying because I never thought of it that way. I know it sounds stupid because of what I did but still. My nurses and providers had more contact with those patients then me. I’m just up front checking people in and out. It never scared me because I knew I was protected.

With myself working in a grocery store, and my partner currently for a pizza chain, I have never been more acutely aware of our safety than during this. I've been physically threatened more than once over shortages in the store I work in, and cursed/verbally threatened more than I'd care to count. My partner is put at risk with every house he has to deliver to, and that's in tandem with the "normal" issues with delivery. On top of that, customers have coughed and/or sneezed on us more than we'd probably admit.
And tbh, suddenly being referred to as "essential work" within the past month has me extremely conflicted. On one hand, I completely see the reasoning. People need to be able to eat, and we're both doing our part in that. But, on the other, these are a lot of the same people who, pre-Covid, called people with jobs like mine & my partner's "unskilled", "lazy", and would berate us for not having "real jobs" while simultaneously saying that we don't deserve an adequate and livable wage for what we do.

Nory-chan - It's a PR exercise. People are waking up finally to the great financial inequities under which they live and seeing these corporations and their owners for what they are. The pandemic has exacerbated the situation. Made it plainer. And the owners are frightened of the bad publicity. So a cheap public Thank You, the smiley face solution, will do the trick, make us look like good guys. Anyone fooled?
With coronavirus sickness being a 'force majeure', surely there should be no time limit on paid sick leave if a person has the virus and is at home or in hospital recovering from it. Some people recover quickly, others slowly. Bezos could probably afford to personally pay for all his staff to have sick pay and health insurance for the duration of the pandemic and not see a change in his lifestyle. And the paltry 'hazard pay' cited below is hardly going to cover anyone's medical bills or pay the bills.

I know and it's so sad that more people don't realize that and wake the fuck up. We had 2 chances for a president who could help to affect *real* change in Washington but we fucked it up both times. If Bernie won and we could take the Senate (there are like 20+ seats up and we only need like 4 or 5 of em) real change could happen. We deserve whatever shitty president we get I guess. I wish there weren't so many stupid people voting against their own interests, blinded by propaganda. And it's so depressing that the best this country can offer is 2 75yo sexual predators of varying degrees with varying stages of dementia. I know people in my daily life who would do a better job leading the nation. This country is turning into a banana republic thanks to this awful administration working to make the checks & balances in our govt non-functional. And very sadly it would appear they're succeeding.

*Written/signed orders to report for duty w/o proper PPE. Telling us to hit the streets w/o the gear violates standing orders, which damn well better be fully documented. 2nd Rule of medicine is documentation. If it isn't written down, it didn't happen. REMF is signing their confession; that becomes exhibit A in 1st murder charges should I fall in the line of duty (malice precludes manslaughter.)
*A properly signed/notarized DNR (do not resuscitate) order for every single desk jockey up/down the command chain. When each/all contract SAR2, no heroics will be expended by the line animals to revive the meatheads, who can be diagnosed w/chronic mental deficit that could render advanced life support protocols futile.
Like Archie Bunker said: Meat. Head. Dead, from the neck up...
*Have a serious face to face w/medical commander. Failures in standing protocols can permanently damage a medical license.
*Don't get mad. Get even. - Robert F Kennedy
