One is that you just have not been paying enough attention re "Bernie's mittens" and are simply uninformed about the wonderful project initiated by 2nd grade teacher, Jen Ellis, also the talented mitten maker. "High Taxes" have not been in any conversation I've heard or read about regarding the lovely gift by both Ms. Ellis and Sen. Sanders to outstanding non-profits in VT.

Most people would welcome treatment and rehabilitation if it was given as an option. Many jurisdictions have adopted policies where a convicted drug user can choose rehabilitation or prison, and most do choose rehab. If we show them compassion, they *will* become contributing members of society.
The same goes for undocumented immigrants. In most ways they *are* already contributing members of society, and it is true most pay taxes, but don't receive any of the benefits their taxes pay for. Have more compassion for them as well, they serve in America's workforce for peanuts without any real American benefits.

I agree so much! You can tell most politicians cater their views to party and corporate interests and garner votes by attacking the other candidate and selling yourself as the "lesser evil".
Bernie doesn't care, he has ideals of how people deserve and should be treated and how the economy and the government should work FOR the people, not the other way around. He knows saying that burns bridges with people at the top, but he doesn't care, he's there to defend his ideals and that's what he has been doing since before I was born.

As far as I'm concerned, Bernie is actually just putting reason before emotions, and that's what makes him great. All his policies are things that should be a given, because they make logical sense and follow the facts. He's also the cleanest politician in the business - no major scandals, no power plays, no wealthy backers, nothing but clean, proven solutions.

Let's just be happy that men of high honor like Mighty Joe and Bernie are in control now

The civilized countries can scarcely believe that not only does the U.S. not have universal health care but also that so many of its citizens have been brainwashed into thinking that social benefits are some kind of devilish plot to control their lives. A lot of my family members live in rural areas and most of them are republicans. One of the main reasons behind them still being republicans (in spite most of them hating trump) is that a lot of them make too much money to qualify for medicare, but not enough to pay the inflated costs of health insurance for people who live further away from hospitals. People who live in rural places are cheated where healthcare is concerned, and a lot of them actually blame obama for not doing enough with the ACA, and they think that democrats are too passive to actually follow through with implementing universal health care, and honestly I can't entirely disagree with that. So instead of supporting democrats, a lot of them were willing to follow along with republicans in the vain hope that trump's initial promise to make a healthcare plan better than obama's actually paid off.

@Dahn Correct. I live in the middle of EU and I vote parties around the center. Sometimes I've voted conservative because of economy and lately I've voted slightly left because of human rights and digitalisation of government but when I've tried to fill some forms to learn how would I vote in the USA (pure curiosity) it has placed me just a touch right from the percieved Stalinism.
Czechia, my home, has some decent gun laws. I can purchase a pistol or collect long rifles if I want but it takes some training, paperwork and investment. I've never needed a gun to feel safe.
My health insurance covers most of my needs unless I need a plastic surgery or really pretty dental replacements. My girlfriend has just told me that good glases cost also something extra.
I can hypothetically undertake a civil version of marriage with a same sex person if I feel like it.
I've studied at university but I'm not indebted for life because of that( I am indebted for life because I've purchased a house :-) )
If I lose my job I might need to sell my house but I won't probably be hungry unless I gamble my wellfare away.
I can disagree with politicians and I won't face repercussions. People might not like me but that's on a personal level.
We have far right and far left parties and both are financed from Russia to some degree. Their voters have a lot in common.
Our politicians are sometimes corrupt and often incompetent, lying bastards. We still live rather well.
Europe has its fare share of problems but those in USA shine brighter and burn deeper.
