Your comment made me consider the fact that it's long been the Republican stance that the government should be minimally involved in the lives of it's citizens. However, in this president, they have seemingly abandoned that stance and are perfectly fine with the govt (as represented by their president) being a near-daily headache for the majority of the citizenry. Not only that, but they are responsible for record spending under this administration as well. Seems to me that they (Republicans in general, but specifically the republicans in elected govt positions) have a very pliable sense of direction. Meaning, if it's good for them and bad for their "opponents", they will abandon their philosophical/political ideals at the drop of a hat.
