Omg girl. I was the worst ever with things like ordering food and having to call somewhere that wasn't a friend or family. It gave me horrible anxiety. Being 30 now I'm good. But man I would freak out 12-16... And then it all just changed all the sudden. ✌🤘💋

In October I will have 10 years sober.
Through the years I had been to jail and rehabs countless time’s. Nothing ever scared me. I lost custody of 2 of my children (who lived with my brother ) I was an absolute shit show.
In 2010 I got a 3 year prison sentence.
It was the absolute best thing that ever happened to me.
I completed a substance abuse program, got my GED, started college courses.
Now here I sit, married, another child, work as a Recovery Specialist & am in school to get my counseling license.
Y’all are an amazing family supporting her.
If she ever wants someone to call or write, I’m here!!!

This girl is blessed that her family took her in and gave her the opportunity of a life time. She needs to make sure she goes to college and make the most of her life and opportunities.

I was raised from the age of ten by my older sister and her husband. They were 23 and 24. As far as I am concerned they hung the moon and saved my life. It has been surprising to see the depth of your compassion, family love and strength.

I think the fact that Erin can be so self aware with her talking back and slacking on school is HUGE for a 16 year old.
it definitely comes with dealing with a lot at a younger age. for instance, from my own experience, depression at a young age can really make someone grow up and it can have negatives but many amazing positives.

I also came from a toxic childhood like you, and I just want to say that you are doing a beautiful thing. You literally changed the path that your niece was going down... you literally saved her life. I was a mom at 17 years old. And I ended up getting my bachelor’s in nursing and becoming successful because like you, I learned what I didn’t want. But my cousins also grew up in a toxic environment and the state took them from my aunt. My mom couldn’t afford to do this for my cousins, because my mom ended up becoming a struggling single mother of 4 when I was 8 years old, so she just couldn’t handle more. My cousins ended up addicted to drugs. One is homeless now, and one is dead. Children need to know that there is somebody out there who cares... I’m so happy your niece has you.
I just wanted to take a min to offer say thanks for sharing, and that I see you. My family also has a lot of dysfunction. I was the struggling teenager & didn’t have anyone to help & had to figure it out on my own & it has def had its ups & downs. I’m 48 now, 13 yrs in recovery, have a pretty productive & healthy life. My daughter is 22 & doing great, primarily because she did have ppl who could step in & be there for her when I wasn’t able too. So the upside is the family cycles are improving. I truly hope the same can happen for your cousins and their families. Congrats to you for doing everything you have overcome & providing a healthy life for your kid(s?), and thanks for sharing ❤️
When I was 11 my mother died and my aunt and uncle took me in and raised me and I see so many similarities in your family. I'm 24 now and I just want you to know that what you are providing for Eryn by giving her a safe place of support and encouragement is something that is unexplainable. She is so lucky to have you.

That's what family is all about. My brother is an addict. He has a daughter, she is 19 now. Her mom, my brothers ex, died of an overdose when my niece was 16, my parents took my niece in. Put her in private school, set her up for the future. She is now in nursing school. I also had to take in my sister in laws daughter while she was in jail. And was willing to adopt her but her mom turned her life around.
Your family reminds me so much of mine, we all are willing to step up to take care of eachother. ❤ southern families

jadedjadejay yes & even Laura said a while back how she acc helped when she was just 15 years old. It was her, her mother & sister & baby Eryn.. they all helped raise Eryn from day one. So she definitely had the experience. She got up in the night with her, helped bathe her etc all that.. she just didn’t have her full time.. now she knows what it’s like to truly raise a teen. They’re great parents to Eryn. They’ve all done so much for each other. They’ve all learned so much from each other! :)

I never understood why some parents would blame teachers for , when in reality it’s really just how the child’s possibly feeling or it could just be they are struggling in something and they don’t know how to ask for help and the list can go on and on. i’m very happy to see how much she’s growing in her life’s and it inspires me to do better for myself💯
