"..I wrote “Blue & Grey” when I was at my lowest point, when I was actually asking whether I could keep going with my work or not. Even the fun parts of work became a chore, and my whole life felt aimless. ‘Where do I go from here? I can’t even see the end of the tunnel.’ Those kinds of thoughts hit me hard. It was when work was a major challenge. When I’m happy, I want to work, and when I’m happy I can put on a smile and see the fans, but there was just so much work to do. I’m an easygoing, you know, laid-back person, but I was stretched too thin and I was starting to sputter. What I mean is, I was having a really tough time, and thinking, ‘What’s waiting for me at the end? It’s important to be successful, but I’m also trying to be happy, so how come I’m not happy right now?’ That’s when I started to write “Blue & Grey.”"

@@tia2676 well to start off, im glad you arent unintentionally hating on them. Second, i felt quite similar to how you did multiple times. (Ive been stanning them for around 5 months now?) and ive felt my self worth drop through the ground many times. But everytime i felt like giving up, they were there. And I think understanding their history is a big part of it. They worked so hard to get where they are today, and if you ask me, the deserve every penny they have. And yes, comparison is a huge part of society and it's really bad. I have some knowledge in psychology, and comparison makes the brain think different.
Say someone gives you a penny, then later takes the penny and gives you a quarter instead. Feels like an upgrade
But say someone gives you a dollar, and later asks for it back and gives you a quarter instead. This feels like a major loss instead of a gain.
I guess my point is that comparison is completely normal. We're only human after all. But the important part is that we have the mental strength to overlook that fact, and focus on our dreams and own success.

"Blue & Grey" is a guitar ballad that tells the story an artist's burn out.
As V explained, blue is universally symbolic of sadness, while grey is a color that RM often references in his songwriting to convey the same, so V was inspired to use them both to describe that feeling.
"Blue & Grey" was originally intended to be on V's mixtape and was entirely in English. The group, however, liked it so much that they decided to work it into the album BE. The snippet of the original version can be heard in episode five of BTS' show, In The SOOP.

I am really struggling with depression, and ALL of the BTS songs help me so much with depression. The way they all love each other, "I just want to be happier," God that hits SOOOO hard! I have a lot of disabilities, including Depression, Autism, and ADHD, but I have overcome a few other disabilities because I listen to their music, and I see how talented they are, and I think, "I am amazing too." I mean, I may not be a singer, but I am awesome too. Everyone is. I listen to them EVERY DAY! I am proud to be an ARMY. Thank you SO much BTS!

i cry so much whenever i listen to this song, i was already worried for kim taehyung, the sadness he had in his eyes and the light and glow they had disapeared for a period even when fans said that he just mattured i was sure it's not just that, and this song proves me i was right, how was he able to carry all those heavy feelings , these feelings have nothing to do with luckdown because he was already sad before that,his health also was not good and he was so skinny , also his wooga friends said that he met them to discuss his problems he has at work, he says in the song that even if he smiles in the end of the day he cried ,V was going through a hard time

When it's your first time listening to this song and reading the lyrics you get the feeling and the message that's true, but when you read these lyrics while you are going through a really hard time you can LITERALLY relate to every word. it is insane how BTS express us by expressing their selves. I really wanted this song today. I am from India, now in Canada as a student. Leaving all my family and everything, it was never easy tbh. When this first came out, i listened to it and immediately fell in love. It felt so comforting, so dear to heart. And when i was actually going through hard times this hit really hard. This part at 1:50 really describes my feelings. This song is just so good overall. From the writing of the lyrics to the emotions flowing through their voices, a complete masterpiece.

And here was all the people saying Tae was quite and different because he “matured” really? Ofc he has matured over the years, just like his band mates, they all matured. BUT you could clearly see Tae was definitely going through something (mostly in 2019 and early 2020) you could see the different between Tae being mature and him being sad and you could see he was sad about something, for example, in I don’t know...the boys reacting to the Black Swan MV, just look at Tae and tell me “yup he has just matured” no... that was sadness, he didn’t smile once, didn’t talk once, and kept the same straight face? While his band mates where happy and smiling. But now after the Dynamite era, Tae looks so much happier, he smiles and talks wayy more and it makes me so happy to see, I want the best for my Taetae🥺
