I was just prescribed eszopiclone (Lunesta). I have taken Ambien (zolpidem) before and, while it worked extremely well when used occasionally for bouts of severe insomnia, I found that it made me extremely groggy like nothing else ever had. (I have experience with many different benzodiazepines and antipsychotic medications and, despite their capacity to work as sedative-hypnotic tranquilizers, nothing has ever made me feel as tired as Ambien has.)
I will have to take this video and the information you shared in it into account for the future. Thank you for sharing this!

I have a central nervous system disorder, ME/CFS from burn pit exposure in Iraq. Ive been an insomniac long before I was in the military. I have been on ambien and lunesta (seperately mind you, I take lunesta these days) for years now. One of the primary features is a sedation effect on the central nervous system. Because most of my pain is in my CNS a side effect of the lunesta is that for about an hour each night my CNS pain is relieved before I go to sleep. Clearly its not feasable to take it during the daytime but I wanted to comment on how it does have a pain releiving effect when the pain is in the CNS.

There is a lot of "information" out there about how Zolpdiem (ambien) works on our GABA receptors the same way as a benzo would, therefore giving you similar withdrawals as a benzo. Im working on getting off of zolpdiem, and the first thing that pops up are detox centers advertisements saying this. Can you explain why we wouldn't get the same withdrawals?

I've been taking Ambien for 20 years NF zero problems with it, 5mg to 10mg a night, have taken 15mg. I still have to concentrate to go to sleep, no matter the dose. If a patient doesn't have a problem with the drug & it works for them, why does the next Doctor I get (they keep moving away), say I shouldn't take it anymore & they won't prescribe it? Ridiculous! When you find something that works for a person, that person is responsible, articulate & 62 years old, why should you argue with them & take something away that is working for them. Now I'm on high blood pressure medicine from arguing with my doc & never getting enough sleep. Ambien takes the edge off my intense thought process, to help me be able to go to sleep. Guided meditation, flotation tanks, 30 other drugs they've asked me to try... now Lunesta & Belsomra "together" ? Nope, doesn't work either. Ridiculous. You take it every night for a year and tell me what YOUR problem is with Ambien, because I don't have one. Not after 20 years. It still works with no side effect & I can sleep for 4 hours, get up, go to work & work a 12-hour day if I have to. It just relaxes my mind so that I can get to sleep. I still get up and go to the bathroom throughout the night, I still hear if my dog or my cat whimpers & it doesn't increase by dream-state, which I'm an avid dreamer from the time I go to sleep untill the time I wake up. Other drugs increased by dream-state which makes me even more tired the next day. Please do not knock a drug that actually works for some people. Stop putting negative information out about this drug when it does not work negatively for all people. Thank you. Please excuse any typos I'm using Google voice.

I value you wrote your experience and would like that would be the case for me, but ambien gives me severe dehydration and/or canker sores and general buccal mucose affection. And also digestive issues, intense burps and belches. I tried more than once, and whenever i stop taking it those symptoms withdraw, but at the same time i start being unable to fall asleep, because ambien, among all the other things i've tried (tryptophan, 5htp, magnesium, ashwagandha, valerian, passionflower, meditation, sleep hygiene, etc) is the only thing that works consistenly. I looked for and there's other people that have reported dehydration for example, and digestive issues. So, my comment here is to mention that some people, like me, have severe adverse effects, that really i cannot live with them, my mouth burns all day long, it's horrible.
