Avengers: Endgame gave fans fitting goodbyes to Chris Evans’ Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, but it also set up the franchise's transition into Phase 4.
However, after the much-anticipated announcement of its Phase 4 plans, Disney and MCU’s grand plans have hit a snag. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of movie theaters, film studios have had to make major adjustments to their releases and production schedules.
Countless movies have had to pivot and push back their release dates, and the MCU is going to have to do the same. Here's the bad news about Phase 4.

Yeah, a much needed quarantine break is needed for everyone to minimize damage. Hopefully no one gets hurt in the middle of this. Having said, I bet Marvel must be feeling like it hit the lottery by having it's two previous biggest movies of all time, released 2018 and 2019. Delaying Endgame to 2020 would have monumentally sucked right now.
I’d love for them to release them only on streaming/digital services, but it is better to delay them from a business point of view. It’s because it takes so much money to invest in the initial budget of the movie, and on top of that, they invest more money for the advertisement, manufacturing of physical copies, distribution, etc.
Because of this, they don’t break even when they hit their initial budget value. In fact, it is usually double or more than double the budget after calculating everything else, so they need the box office revenue on top of digital/physical sales to “break even.”

6 months is not that bad. Honestly, this can be a good thing. After Endgame everyone is getting a nice break. This also gives Marvel more time to plan, write, edit, work on CGI, and put out higher quality films than they do already. I bet the Phase 4 movies will be better because of this because they will be less rushed and there is more time to write and edit.
Yeah, but a lot of kids are out in summer. And watching a movie when there is absolutely NOTHING to be stressed about is a lot better than stressing about the homework you have to work on after you finish watching the hottest Marvel movie.

There are way more adults that watch the MCU than children. The movies are mostly made for teenagers and adults, not children. That doesn’t mean children can’t and don’t watch them, because they do. I’m just saying that children are not the majority of the MCU fan base.

Polo Surf Yeah let’s be happy that there were infants who barely got to see and feel for a few months what life was like, before suffocating to death from this illness in fear and pain. You can be happy about the positives of something to look on a bright side, but don’t forget that these are actual people who died horribly all alone, because they couldn’t have visitors, and many that couldn’t even be claimed by any family they had after they died. Their bodies just got taken away. Whatever you can think of negatively about the human race, you do have to remember about the individual, who could easily be you, or yours. there has to be an adjustment period where people get back to work and start making some money. a lot of businesses will fail. new millionaires who bought stock cheap will replace the ones who didn't deserve to be wealthy in the first place. life goes on.
Though no one can predict the future, I have faith that we will recover from this pretty quickly. I do understand your pessimism about this situation though as it is fairly unprecedented... not the global pandemic itself but the actual halting of industries because of it, normally doesn’t take place...

The Hawk Covid-19 is far worse than H1N1 was. H1N1 mortality rate was about 0.02% whereas Covid-19 is 2% and that number could increase.
Let's be honest: this was inevitable. And a few months isn't a bad thing at all. If all these MCU films had to go the VOD route, Disney/Marvel Studios will not make its money back so rather delays than have it show up on Disney+.
@E L And all the men and women who worked tirelessly on set and in post-production, sacrificing hours to get these films completed within the time frame to get it released, only for their work to be pushed further back. Surely, they are the ones we feel sorry for, not the multi billion dollar corps you mentioned.

i'm among the high-risk population who would get terribly, possibly fatally ill if i catch covid-19. for months i'd been looking forward to seeing the black widow movie on opening day, but this pandemic canceled those plans. going to a movie theater is just too huge of a risk for me right now.
with the delay i still get to enjoy the opening day experience without risking my welfare.

Then there’s people talking,annoying laughs, sitting next to strangers,inflated concessions, things I can do without. Me personally I’d rather watch at home and I have a surround sound. Endgame was 3hrs if movies keep getting longer I definitely rather be at home because I can hit pause do something and come back.

Since the virus gestation and stay period is 3 months to 5, i dont think it will effect as much..Yes Black Widow will release late but it would not put much effect. So at best the timeline will be delayed for 6 months at max and that will still work out pretty well. I would rather wait than Black Widow releases just on DVD ..i wana watch it in theaters even if it means it will be delayed a bit.

It has to be said though, that if Marvel studios had to pick a year to be disrupted, this was the best one. 2020 was a bit of a natural 'hiatus' for them after Endgame. A film that would never have toppled Avatar or even Titanic probably if this crisis had hit last year. They were actually lucky in my opinion. Last year would have an absolute disaster.

I don't see much issue with this delay outside of actor's availability. When you stop to think about it, unless the plots undergo time changes, most (though not all) of these phase 4 movies are set in the year 2023 and beyond. You could easily have say Eternals, Black Panther 2, Thor Love & Thunder as well as the Disney+ shows come out 6+ months apart while their stories could all be taking place in 2023/2024 and whatnot. If anything, this gives the real world a chance to catch up to the MCU timeline.

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
The Batman (June 25th 2021)
The Suicide Squad (August 26th 2021)
Black Adam (December 22nd 2021)
Shazam 2 (April 1st 2022)
The Flash (July 1st 2022)
Aquaman 2 (December 16,202)
Important to see those dates because the reason why DC movies are going to be so unaffected is because WW’84 has been done for a couple years now and has the rest of 2020, through June 2021 to release bc no other dc movies coming out then.
The Batman should be filming now and probably at most was 1/4 of the way shooting so that’ll probably switch with TSS which finishes filming before Hollywood closed. Black Adam and Shazam 2 were gonna start filming this June and July so hopefully Hollywood is opened by then, but even so those 2 movies are so far off it’s okay. And obviously same with The Flash and Aquaman 2 which are 2+ years away, The Flash was supposed to start filming this November-ish so it’ll be good. And Aquaman 2 wasn’t gonna start till next year anyway
