Because they thought it was going to be a live action movie or in the style of Spider-Verse.
That is a positive that came to my mind. At least this movie is actually focusing on the Transformers characters instead of focusing on the human characters. It what nailed the cartoon series back then. I will admit....I was kinda hoping for a more darker tone. This tone was a mix of disappointment and yet....intriguing. I hope it will be as fun as I hope. But as well as dark as it was known for their ongoing civil war.

For anyone complaining about Chris Hemsworth's voice as Orion Pax, in an episode of Generation One, it was shown that Orion originally sounded nothing like Optimus Prime to the point that several time-traveling Autobots couldn't recognize him, so Chris's voice does fit.

@@wrought-ironheroEMIYAmight be because juggling Orion as a data clerk in the plot while also him meeting Megatron would’ve:
a) Added way too much to the film itself
b) Allows for the audience to see and understand that Orion and Megatron have a connection even before the movie starts. By having both work the same job, their friendship is much easier to fit in and we get more screen time of it as opposed to cramming it in after Act 1 when they meet for the first time or something like that

For people complaining about Megatron being nothing like his future self and tone, keep in mind the Transformers battled for MILLIONS of years before coming to Earth and this is when they are teenager equivalents before becoming the Gladiator and Library Overseer we know them as.
People can change ALOT in that amount of time.

That's fair, except that he also was literally an enslaved minor more like his whole life, and then became a pit fighter, basically . Not exactly fitting situation for a character to go on a fun zany romp where you become superheroes.
They were different but they weren't like... Completely not who they are at all.
I'm all for them not being how they are in their common forms if there's some logic to it but this is supposed to be a prequel to the movie that we know from the '80s, these guys literally try to murder each other with their bare hands and succeed. Turning them into Woody and Buzz or Guardians of the Galaxy is crazily off the grid.

I've heard people complain that the movie is very silly. But the thing is, people are used to the Optimus and Megatron who have seen centuries of war and death. That's not the case here. War can drastically change a person in real life. Why should it be any different for the Cybertronians? This is pre-war and they have the maturity level equivalent to human teenagers. Of course, they are going to be goofy and dumb at times.
I'm actually excited for this movie.

Cyberverse Optimus isn't voiced by Peter Cullen. So is Animated, the WFC trilogy, Rescue Bots Academy too.
@@StarGazer6 Peter Cullen did do Optimus in Rescue Bots though since it's tied in with TFP. I'm pretty sure he did RB Academy although I never did see Academy so I may be wrong.

This would’ve been a perfect prequel to transformers prime. But I’m having a hard time seeing Prime and Megatron not being taken seriously

@@HitlerLovesAnime well in the G1 cartoon universe at least and potentially the Energon Universe but don’t know about the latter right now. Don’t know if that’s what they'll do here.
I wish they didn’t cast celebrities, but instead casted voice actors who were right for the role.
Peter Cullen wouldn’t work for a young Prime, though i can see him in sequels.

Cant believe it took them 40 years but we're finally getting an origin story for Orion and Megatron and i love it
Megatronus sounds so innocent. It's gonna be really sad to know how he will turn out at the end of the movie.
Im not a fan of his voice/mannerisms. Hopefully it’ll get better by the end of the movie

Chris Hemsworth sounds a lot like a younger Peter Cullen! Love it!
That’s the idea. It is a “Prequel” film, so it does make sense for them to get different actors. Sort of like how they got Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker as Batman and Joker in Arkham Origins.
