@@gregorymazzoni2428 I don’t know. I saw an interview where his manager recalled a conversation he had with Pavarotti’s wife. She insisted it would be great if they could perform this song together. Either the manager or Pavarotti was concerned about translating the words into Latin to fit the tempo etc and the response was “ your singing in Latin. Who understand Latin? They won’t know the difference.” I’ll try to locate the interview

I agree! I actually clicked on it to get a laugh at the absurdity of it and I'm so impressed at how well the two compliment each other. I wish I knew what Pavarotti was singing but it doesn't matter. Fabulous!
@Giant Face Bork Laser Same goes for Pavarotti who has done many colabs!
I respect his great courage as an opera singer to traverse other genres, something you wouldn't expect from someone with the background in opera and musicals; you'd beileve to be conservative more than anyone.
Likewise i'm astonished how well someone seemingly _outside the genre_ can accompany and complement the other singer and song as a whole. This one collab is imo my favorite example of this, probably because I love both worlds of the _reggie vibe_ and _classical opera_ .
@Giant Face Bork Laser That too. :D

The look on James face when Pavarotti sings is Priceless! He looks so Happy❤️
Yes even I felt so... James is spontaneous and comfortable in his turn... Whereas Pavarotti is tensed to get his lines right. Its only during the end that Pavarotti is relaxed as the show went well.
But this song is very very nice and so is the combination.
@@ganeshn9464 I agree except I don't quite feel "tense" when Pavarotti sings. He just has less motion because he is very centered, and he sings in a completely different style-classical opera style. In fact Pavarotti's voice sounds very broad and sustaining to me, and it tickles with your ears...so beautiful. And I find this combination and contrast to be really beautiful too.

What makes this even better, is that we all knew these 2 were legends while they were still with us and we appreciated them as such. R.I.P.
The fact that James Brown and Luciano Pavarotti are dead in my opinion is sad and romantic at the same time because we'll never hear those legends live again but also they won't be another James Brown or another Luciano Pavarotti ever again
The smile of James Brown when he is looking at Pavarotti ...
He knows that he is singing with the greatest Tenor of modern times
This was a great example of two singers been given the musical space to do their own thing and being different enough to create an interesting musical contrast in itself.
It really teases the imagination to consider the possible reactions this performance would have had in the US a few hundred years ago, not considering the lyrics, which obviously in large part would have been unintelligible for the people of time, but rather the conceptual essence, groundbreaking combination of musicality and intense emotion of the performance.
