Sometimes not using it is better because once you use it at least in the higher ranks your Yokai will be taken out and it’s much better to keep that great utility

I don’t think so
You just press the shoot button (right trigger or left click). The drone has to be on the ceiling to do this. You can go up to the ceiling by pressing the jump button.
You can see a few seconds later that is says enemy disoriented on the side
