Genocide explains another part of the story, a part where remorselessness can distance you from the people you love and treat them as though they are things. Genocide can also explain the pain of this distance and the wish to feel the love that you once felt in the beginning. Most of all I think it's just important to show the disgusted side of the characters for what a monster YOU have become.

GUYS. This isn't gonna be a full musical, it's a package. It says it in the thumbnail. It also says "9 left", which I believe means there are nine songs left of this package.
I'm not expecting anything crazy like "Power of Neo" or "Megalovania"

9 songs is basically the full genocide run, in fact I'm trying to think about 9 exclusively only genocide song and I just can't (I think, Battle against a true hero, Power of Neo and Megalovania).
So I guess most of the songs will be "sad versions" of the neutral and pacifist song (all the zones... Maybe some bosses like Toriel and Papyrus? idk).

I'm going to be truthful here: when you guys did the Pacifist route, I saw SOOOOO many people requesting for Megalovania (and Alex I think you kinda lost it XD). I was one of those odd few sitting in the corner like "Guys just appreciate what they've already done for us." Because, let's be honest, working almost a full year on one project probably wasn't easy.
And then I saw that you were doing a Genocide package.
And now I'm getting hyped up about Megalovania.
But seriously Battle Against A True Hero is going to be epic, you have to agree there :P

This comment pains me. Not because the person is more hyped for BaaTH, but because BaaTH ended up being pretty lackluster compared to the rest. I feel bad for this person.

I know you are not thrilled with the concept, but this route does cover story elements that the other two routes did.
Your take on the music will be amazing and may offer a measure of catharsis like. Sometimes a little angst is what the doctor ordered.
Plus I like how Undyne and Sans go out of their way to kick players ass and protect everyone. I'm excited for their themes.
Sans didn't go our of his way. Nor protect anyone. He knew nothing can be done. He doesn't try.
Ruined. A nice way to start the death and destruction. Ruined is how I'd imagine it going, "This is how our story will End," a reference to the original "Ruins" in which they talk about "This is how our story Begins," so that was cool. The chorus is fantastic. So lifeless and haunting as it should be; a complete 180 from UTM. The art no longer has the brightness and life that it used to; now its gray and lifeless to really show sadness in the ruins. This is one of the songs in the scratch tracks that I really enjoyed, and hearing the chorus makes it so much better. I really love this track and I can't wait for the next songs. A perfect way to start the genocide tracks, you've outdone yourself again. Keep up the great work :)

Doesn't anyone realize Alex made Megalovania almost two years ago? It's on his original channel (Alexander von Koopa). Kudos to anyone who did see it, I think he did a really good job on it. The words fit pretty much perfectly. The comments on that video are horrendous, I can't believe so many people can't connect the dots. But if anyone sees this, maybe everyone who said, "When's Megalovania?" will have an "I'm an idiot" moment.

Omg I love the opening chorus, the way the split of pitches fit into a perfect harmony make this so wonderfully haunting and beautiful, absolutely love the song, especially with the mood it sets for the story
Even though I was one of those that originally hoped for megaolvania at some point, after a bit I fell in love with the pacifist take and didn't care. Sooo I'm just gonna imagine this as a not true continuation of Undertale: The Musical. Still thank you to Alex for doing these. A little sad that you did but I can appreciate your's and the cast's efforts to appease the well... more unsavory viewers.

Edit: So. This comment. From five years ago. This is one of many, many comments from this era that was unnecessarily aggressive, spiteful, etc. and led to a thought process of "Man on the Internet is an asshole."
I was in a bad place when I wrote this. Young, stupid, affected by a series of really crappy events, call it what you will. And in that bad place, I saw comments talking about how people couldn't wait to commit genocide in real life, with enough specifics to be disturbing, and broadly applied that to far more comments than that minority. The comments in question are gone now because of course I reported that nonsense but the vast majority were far more harmless and undeserving of such a scathing reply, pinned for all to see.
I say this to explain, not to excuse. While I hesitate to call myself an asshole through and through, I can acknowledge this was asshole behavior. There are more comments like this out there, some may offend sensibilities more, some less, but the bottom line is - they were mean. Stupidly, stupidly mean. And I'm sorry. It's not my place to tell anyone to forgive someone or not, so accept or reject what you will. But, on the other hand, I personally believe that five years is enough time to plausibly believe someone has made a change in their life.
I'm not taking this down, I'm leaving the original as is below the dividing line. For one thing, taking it down really solves nothing, and the internet is forever, anyway. For another, as much as I hate that I went through this period and lashed out like this, I want this to serve as a reminder of where I was in the hopes I never go back that way again.

The genocide path was originally intended as an easter egg for players who went in blind and assumed they could grind like any standard rpg. But now it's considered a mandatory part of any play session
The one thing I thought about all throughout Undertale...

Yet the monsters are the ones who attack you. You encounter a monster, and they attack you.
That's a really good point, kind of undermines the whole "mercy" thing this game is going for.

I don't think people realize just how lucky we are to have this. If I were Alex and the MOTI team, I don't think I could've released it, after all the terrible comments. I'm proud you guys could ignore the haters and give us fans something you've wanted to give since the early musical, even if people tried to rush you.
Totes agree with you there, man. They're a good bunch. I'm happy they're giving this to us, and a little bummed that the haters kind of soured this for me. It feels a little empty, almost like a "There you go, take it." But yeah, I'm excited to hear more of MOTI's amazing work before we get into Chronotrigger.
Honestly, we're not at the point of "Here, just take it". We worked hard on these, we're proud of what we've done, and we are legit excited to see everyone's reactions to what we've put together. There may have been a little eye-rolling and salt at the WAY some folks have been asking, but in the end, we're all here to share a love for a wonderful game and an amazing soundtrack. :D

I came expecting a Genocide Run DLC-Pack and i left with FEELS
EEEeee oh my gosh the scratch did NOT do this justice. It just feels. So. Heavy. And Lost. And The Chorus. My heart had finally finished healing from the pacifist ending and now it's the perfect time to hop aboard the feels train again XD
The chorus blends so well, and the deeper voices, while I couldn't quite pick out their lines specifically, gave everything this resounding echoing ring to it that just added so much to the atmosphere. The lyrics, while calling back so much to both the original ruins and an ending, were just familiar enough to make you go "wait a minute--" and built the feeling of dread upon itself over and over again, and the call back to "please be good" at the end--
SPEAKING OF ATMOSPHERE. The *art* I recognized Shy's character style immediately, and there's so many nice details in the background, from the brick to the pillars to the switch and vines and the monster ghosts my heart the monsterghosts. and the coloring (which I think is Cami's?) just adds so much foreboding, it's desaturated in a way that makes it feel empty and lost as opposed to the vibrancy of the art in the first ruins. The final shot walking into the darkness is just...perfect.
And I know this isn't part of the video itself, but the changes to the endslate D: Instead of the happy patreon music we get this music that almost feels like it's judging us for asking for this, and then the nobody came screen with the channels at the end ;w; (I'm subscribed to both already yay)

Man, your guys' harmony is incredible. Breathtaking. You re-invoke the initial feeling the player gets when they realized they are committing genocide, even if they said they were going to do it, you still get a shock, and you guys emphasized it perfectly. Well done!

This song is beautiful. Morbidly beautiful. The chorus did a great job of conveying despair, and everything from the title, to the art, to the tone of the music and the voices condemns the player for their actions. I honestly wanted to cry while listening to this.
