Actually, it exploding to elon was more than for it to just stand there and be moved to be disassembled to build other ships. And elon has a point. Now they can upgrade it ever better. If it didn't explode, there would still be that problem somewhere.

After watching on Everyday Astro. It appears the fire seen on the ground was already burning after second engine cut off. I now think #2 failed during the landing.. rupturing a fuel line or blowing a turbo.. and once the skirt sealed itself on the pad, it was just a matter of time. The Raptor is still very much in development. I'm surprised by this, because they have built allot of them. Just goes to show you, flight is very different then a test stand.
Edit: I'm beginning to wonder if transporting them to BC has some part in their apparent fragility.

Again, I don't understand why they don't start the flip a little bit earlier. Hopefully next one :)

      To save fuel

Flipping starship sooner would add velocity and the engines would have to fire harder to decelerate, which would require more fuel, which would add to the weight of the ship, and so on and so forth...

Success - sort of. This was the best explosion so far.

The rocket was already in fire before it landed. And we always heard they would land with two raptors, not one.

I believe there was a leak from the upper methane tank, since the oxygen is lower than the methane tank and the explosion seems to have begun near the skirt.
There was no way an explosion could've happened in this area as a combustion couldn't take place without methane. So the element had to get there somehow.
Not just that, the head or the body weren't obliterated when it fell down which means the combustion really didn't start there.
To finish with, the explosion seems to have really consumed all the reagents in that single second as a second explosion didn't occur when starship fell down.

New landing procedures. After landing crew has 1 minute to get out and clear the landing area.

What are they going to do with all these starships that don't blow up?
