Carlos Santana straight up played some Jedi mind tricks to work that pinch-hit walk. Then D-Mo's pinch running was just too powerful. Distracting the rundown, knocking the pass incomplete at the plate.

This had me laughing so hard when I slammed Seattle ML. A guy in the background just kept saying "Cmon LOUPEEEEEE." on the MLB stream.

Personally, I think there was something weird underlying this compounded bizarreness. Somebody in the Angels' locker room forgot to sacrifice a chicken or the Scarlet Witch had money on the Mariners or a dusting of red kryptonite fell on the diamond as the Halos took the field and Laz was sweeping home plate but the Mariners were still under the cover of the dugout.

This was just a comedy of errors. Just when you thought the Angels found every way to lose this year.

The situational awareness by the Angels was awful that inning. The Stassi throwing error was the least embarrassing defensive mishap of that half inning.

It's not uncommon for the plate umpire to miscount. The problem is that the A's have until the first pitch on the next batter to appeal. This isn't just a failure of the players, but all the staff in the A's team.

Fun fact: the official scorecard for this inning just says "LOL Angels. LMAO"

The Julio liner is an example of what speed does on a play. The second baseman probably can't beat Julio to first so he has to try for home. Haggerty is so fast that people were scrambling and may have contributed to Loup falling. Moore was running fast and hard that left the play at third out of place. We go to extras of that's Santana, France and Raleigh on the bases.

This was certainly a crazy inning. But I don't think it tops the 7th inning of Game 5 of the 2015 ALDS between the Blue Jays and Rangers for sheer insanity.

I would argue that the Redsox's defensive performance in the fifth inning of that awful 28-5 game against the Bluejays was worse than this, but then again, all of these mistakes occurred in the infield, which is extra embarrassing.
This might be the most UNIQUE bad inning we've seen in baseball for a good long while at least.

4:25 The problem with going for a reverse-force double play like that is that it would allow the go-ahead run to score in the ninth inning. So it’s go to second, throw home, or bust.

Yeah...putting Nevin in charge is really turning the team around. I can't think of one manager (other than Nevin) who would not have noticed the 2-2 count changing to 3-1.

If this half inning would have been executed by the Pittsburgh Pirates instead of the Angels, I would not have been surprised. I think something similar did happen earlier in the season by the Pirates with similar results.

To answer your question the Phillies against the cubs when Harper hit that walk off grand slam was definitely more crazy than that 9th inning offensively but I'm not sure it tops the angels defensive shitshow that I just witnessed.

That "walk" by Santana is squarely on Phil Nevin. What was he doing in the dugout, checking out the cute chicks in the stands? And the weirdest thing I ever saw at a baseball game (I was there) was when a runner tried to steal second, the catcher threw the ball and hit the pitcher on the back of the head. Runner was safe, pitcher was "out", momentarily.

Ideally they would’ve turned the double play on Julio’s hit, but it would’ve been an RBI single (or error rather) cause Julio was already 3 feet from first base when the second basemen picked the ball up.
So, going for haggerty at home was the right decision all though I don’t think the 2B even knew it

The scoreboard also had it as 3-1. No one saw the strike call on the 3rd base steal
