    I am getting a few ZV1 owners saying they never experience overheating issues. Please comment below if you have had any overheating issues or not when recording in 4k with the screen open on a tripod for more than 40 mins.

      I initially bought the ZV1 to try it out for studio/talking head use. Temperature on high, on a tripod, screen open, 4K, battery-powered, indoors during Calgary fall (so not warm). I got about 20-25 minutes in when I hit my first temp warning and shut down. From there it was a back and forth of letting it cool down and overheating. In the end, I returned it and went for the ZVE10 paired with a Sigma lens, largely influenced by yourself, and am very happy!

I wish the product showcase mode isn't sluggish at ZV-1F. I convinced myself about all the other cons but super slow showcase makes me thoughtful. take care man.

    Once again a great comparison video. My ZV-1 has gone on lots of trips with me and done a great job for photos and videos but that 1-F is tempting as a vlog only camera I must say. The fact that they offset the 1/4" 20 let's me know Sony is listening. I can't help but think we will see a Z-V1ii or Z-V2 very soon so I'm excited to see what that may offer. Cheers.

    I just got the ZV-1F after using the ZV-1 for the past two years (~30 YT videos, with some on the M50, GoPro8, and Osmo Action 1). So far I prefer the ZV-1F. I've only used it on one (published) YT video and one livestream but for anything on a tripod the ZV-1F is great. Nice to be able to change batteries, use a mounting plate etc due to the location of the tripod mount. Image quality is good enough for me. Couldn't care less about the menu system since I was used to the ZV-1 menus. Audio is good enough.
    I do outdoor content (backpacking, mountains, wind, rain, freezing temps) and feel more confident about the durability and simplicity of the fixed prime lens. My ZV-1 is currently back with Sony because of focus issues, likely from one of the many times my tripod fell over in the wind. If (more likely WHEN) the ZV-1F goes flying off a tripod it'll be cheaper to fix or replace...
    Why is everyone so concerned with walk and talk vlogs and stabilization? Is that REALLY what everyone does?? If you're going to do walk and talk vlogs, a little GoPro is hard to beat. I typically carry the Sony ZV-1 (now ZV-1F) for locked off shots and an action camera for anything moving. For less than a pound I have two cameras and two focal lengths. One is great in low light, the other has amazing stabilization.

    Nice comparison. I still wish Sony would have released the ZV-2 at the same time offering tow options as I really need the touch menu, tripod repositioned, USB-C. The ZV-1f omission of the hotshoe is a miss for a vlogging camera since you cannot connect a Sony mic (ECM-G1) without wires, no OSS I would miss on ZV-1f.
    I am hoping the ZV-2 offers better start-up too.

I'm thinking of going with the ZV-1F, for various reasons in your review and the door not being blocked is a big plus because, jeez, who has time to undo the shoe every time you need to get the door open. • @FilmBrain
    @FilmBrain 년 전 +4

    I wonder if the 1F not overheating is because it has the new processor in it (hence the new menu), which can handle that better. The lack of overheating definitely makes it better video camera overall, and I say that as someone who wanted the original ZV-1 but couldn't afford it, so settled with a solidly video-focused budget phone.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech 년 전 +1

      Just make sure you don't need zoom in and out... The ZV-1F is great value though. It likely has a newer processor but the touch screen situation is very unlikely about heat and more about Sony never putting full touch in any of their cameras for whatever reason... giving people more of a reason to upgrade in the future with held back features is more likely I'd think. So KRplusrs all show touch screen which all the other companies had all along in the first place.

I really hate the stretching of the image that the ZV-1 does at 24mm in an effort to correct the wild barrel distortion at this focal length. Does the 20mm, fixed lens, ZV-1F suffer the same malady, (distortion), at it’s 20mm focal length in photos?

But, if I pull out my ZV-E10 and gimbal and start ninja walking downtown at dusk, I feel like I'm trying too hard and need business cards to my KRplus channel which needs many more subs before I'm okay with that...Anyway, I think if someone asked me what camera they should get as an upgrade to their cellphone for family and travel, I would first recommend the latest GoPro (it's so simple and versatile) but mention that if they notice they need better vlogging and lowlight, pick up the ZV1-F. Then, of course they'll want more but they'll also know more of what they want.

    I do media and interviews. Video wise.. the zv-1f is a beast.. but I'm returning it for the zv-1 because I also like to take photos at the interviews and the zoom on the zv-1f is terrible. When you zoom and capture the image it looks like an old Android phone. Even though I use my canon m50 as well, sometimes a team member on site with me.

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis

      yes - for photos you are much better off with the ZV1 or another camera. The zoom on the ZV1-F is just digital zoom and will not produce good results.

    I’ve done multiple weddings with over 2h recorded on the ZV1 with an external battery with no over heating. Even Gerald undone showed the ZV1 as one of the best streaming cameras with no overheating.
    I’m wondering what’s the difference between yours or the settings?

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  년 전 +1

      it depends on the the temp and if you’re in 4K. sometimes I get unlimited record time with the ZV1 in 4K, but if the temp in the room is above 75, it shuts down on me. streaming or recording in 1080 will help and with an external battery will help. but with its internal battery in 4K, I get overheating. Maybe I just had bad luck!!

      it’s an original battery - but I have been hearing from a lot of zv1 owners that they are not experiencing overheating. so maybe I just have bad luck 🤣

    I went back and forth for a few weeks at launch but I went with the ZV-1 for my use cases. Coming from Panasonic, I think I was scarred from contrast based autofocus and wanted something I could also use for live streaming. I did get a $20 neewer cage that shifts the tripod mount, gives battery door access, and an additional cold shoe and it's made a huge difference. I'm a 1080p60 shooter and have not had issues with overheating even upwards of 2 hours, clean HDMI and a dummy battery really take the webcam capabilities to the next level (but it does a wonderful job over USB if you can just feed it power). The 1F is still a great camera but I also don't have FOMO either. I'd say you definitely don't need to spend the extra $150-200 for the ZV-1 unless you're needing stills, zoom, or phase detect autofocus.

    I gifted the rarely used ZV1-f simply due to focus going in and out during recording of people in an active scenario like people walking around me. If you stay pretty still in front of the camera its better, just don't move around much. I say however that static shots for pictures is where my copy shined and I really used it a lot for photos with the 1 inch sensor it is much better blown up than the average cell phone. it is great in low light again as long as your subject doesn't move much for video. Why Sony decided to use contrast detect for a newly released camera is beyond me. I'm back to my trusty Panasonic that simply isn't as portable.
