    I once did a bullet time experiment with my Canon T3i. I set the shutter speed really high and turned on rapid fire (only3.5fps) with the T3i. Then stuck one of my kids toys in a table and starting shooting as I walked around the toy. Came out pretty interesting. I now have a Canon 90D that can shoot at 11fps on live view mode. I really need to try this again with that camera.

    i'm here because of Destin, and guess we're all sorry the structure broke, but it seems amazing the power you get when in full rotation, especially with a good camera, because it seems the time has frozen and we can see every angle of it. hope you optimize it in a way it can be done from above too, which will prevent liquid on the equipment and also get a lot of amazing angles complementing the bottom vids. awesome work, already a follower. :)))

    I'm guessing the quality of the mirrors have something to do with the somewhat grainy image quality? Could'nt your NASA buddy lend you a couple of space mirrors? :D

    • @LOJohns
      @LOJohns 4 년 전 +21

      that is to do with the focal distance. 1:35 for example, you can see the centre of the splash with good definition, but the periphery of the splash has travelled beyond the focal range of the camera and appears blurry. This is a technical limit of high speed camera shooting, as generally you need an open aperture to achieve sufficient exposure but an open aperture reduces focal range.

    • @SivaKanthSharma
      @SivaKanthSharma 3 년 전

      @@LOJohns you're right, to an extent. Even that in focus area is a little soft, even for 480p. I'm guessing it's because they used a regular mirror. The glass in front of the reflective layer produces a ghost image, and there's two of them. A surface mirror would've made it better

    Hi, Mark,
    Mike Kukuris, of the Press Record KRplus channel, introduced me to Aimed Research, when he had one of their cameras for about a week, to shoot footage and demo the camera for them., Mike also said they're the most affordable, and wonderful people with whom to work. And I sent Mike and Brit links to this video and your pumpkin-carving videos. Up in Michigan, they get with friends, each year, and carve a couple hundred pumpkins, for a huge, traffic-stopping display, each Halloween. I know they'll enjoy and appreciate what your NASA friends do. :)

      +pikachu1324 I was thinking about it a little and if you used a lager parabolic mirror then it would be possible to get a unobstructed view in theory. *edit* if you positioned a mirror spinning above the target then you could also rectify the problem.. you would have a few issues with other technical hitches also though.

  • @GynocentricEudomonic

    I wonder if that would work with a convex mirror in the middle and a ring of six to eight, or more, mirrors around it? Would probably need a lens on the camera to correct for any distortion caused by the convex mirror. It would also eliminate the need for moving parts in the rig, thus removing a fail point, and the mount for same blocking part of the shot.
