- A simple trick to get awesome Matrix-like "Bullet Time" footage for waaaaay less money than most people spend on it with huge camera arrays.
I shot all off this footage with a GoPro HD Hero 3 at 240 fps. NO TWIXTOR!!!... but I did you use After Effects smooth motion thing in parts which is pretty much the same thing... it just seems like writing NO TWIXTOR is like a badge of honor for slow mo videos for some reason... so I wanted to put it in there.
I make videos like this once a month all year long while supplies last:

the ending made it all worth it. "Tiger Uppercut"
Lol tiger uppercut
5 years later Tiger Uppercut
You should have put a green cardboard instead so you could composite those videos.
Yes
it was quite nice but with a static background, it seems more like the objects themselves are spinning rather than the camera around the objects
Thats the point g
+Russel Wilson thats not the point of the movie though
+Just a WARLORD the point of the static backround was to do exactly what he said
Russel Wilson no it was to make it look like it was standing still but the affect fucked up
Watch the video again he explained what he meant to do
i liked this a lot more than i initially expected to
same
+pulsefrequency same thing happend to me with the roller derby car
The background music was awesome, I love the XX
One of my favorites. Fo realz.

You are going to make Xx the intro famous. Im glad i love them
I just discovered your channel. Love your stuff! This is almost identical to my version of the bullet time effect, though yours looks much nicer. Great job!
It’s an OG boi
Wonder is he is still Aliv- nvm
He made a video one day ago
You my friend are a frikin genius. Love it and love the simplicity.
This is freaking awesome with a lime green backdrop + epic VIDEO
I am so envious of you Mark Rober,
You fascinate me with everyone of your videos.
This is video art they should have this playing on a flat screen at an art museum
Well hell. Just in time for my project, it was missing an element and I think you just saved the day
that's really cool.... this video should have a lot more views!
you can do the same thing with a lot of gopros and a metal circle but it takes a lot of time to time together the shots near perfectly. devinsupertramp did a video on it
donevin o'callaghan but you know that the time isnt the problem but that not anybody wants to buy 70 gopros
TLM i do doe :/
donevin o'callaghan hahaha your the doe
TLM but i dont own a doe
+donevin o'callaghan and it also costs way more than this
LOVE the xx great song choice!
Mark - this is great! I have some ideas to take this farther too! Thanks for the great idea!
Great effect ! Great creative thinking! Top marks!!
Add on suggestion: make a mechanism that will move the camera up and down, using stepper and lead screw and/or servo to give tilt to it.
Nice technique by the way.
Beautiful !! Haha loved the ending
I loled at the, "Oh, and there is... this." hahaha
Surprising ending I loved it!! Thanks for sharing dude...
I can't wait to see all of them!
A great (and quite simple) technique.
Cool.
Epic DIY solution mang! Will have to this w/ Action figures
This is great; with the high frame rate of the GoPro you can create some great footage…I'm gonna try this!
Wow! That was an amazing video, Mark!
Who would've believed that Mark went from cool tricks videos to cool inventions videos to literally being the most wholesome and amazing human being on this entire platform.
Mind blown. That was badass
Awesome job Mark! Great video! I did that recently with an array of 5 cameras that turned out pretty good. Just working on the editing at this point.
(Matter of fact, if anyone wants to learn how to edit together a Bullet Time effect with an array of cameras, Im doing a live event in a couple of hours, and Ill put it up as a video tutorial after.)
Thanks again Mark, its great to see smart people like you doing fun videos for us to watch and learn.
Looks great! Agreed not the same matrix effect still super cool!
Finished watching all of your videos, basically... subscribing.
Make more of those "tests" if you will, loved the road killers one
I have learned more from watching 5 of his vids than I have all year and I'm doing this willingly
Brilliant, Mark... just Brilliant
Awesome job as usual, Thanx for sharing!
I feel sea sick and tripped out at the bouncy balls. This is a pretty ingenious and unique setup.
lol Just found you on KRplus screwing around and subscribed because I love learning cool things, and i must say your channel is very fun and entertaining thanks for keeping my mind busy with cool things to try...
Mark, you are a genius!
This was so mesmerizing
You are a master of trick.
That is one of the coolest stuff I've ever seen
very nicely done. Cool trick.
mindblowing stuff!
try without the fake background, just the real one
+Spi Rale yes this would give the point that its spinning arround and with a highspeed cam u have the effect of matrix if the cam spins enough and has super high frames per second u even could suround a bullet mid air
Jhon Bob
dude that is freaking amazing. what a great idea! the very next yard sale ceiling fan I find is MINE. I have high speed video camera's but "low res" (casio F1 and FH-25) you can bet your butt I am going to give this a shot. I can also do 720p 120fps with my phone and my as15 head cam I will give that a shot too. SO very cool.
Call the Slow Mo Guys
amazing video. thanks for sharing it. just wanted to know few things like what frame rates you used for this, the shutter speed. Also how much slow motion you did in the post. Did you used any plugin like twixtor for this. Please reply. Thanks. Regards.
that's awesome :) loved it
just Epic!
wich was your shooting mode for the gopro??
Dude. You need to send this to f-stoppers. This is so simple but the applications are immense!
That's awesome! I think you could mount a small projector beside the the camera. And project an image or video on the back ground screen. That might make some cool effects also.
This was awesome!!!!!!
I enjoyed watching your video. Thank you.
Duude, hella rad idea. I might have to try this with an fs700 !
How did you get the pictures to be so sharp ? Really amazing setup. Thank you!
This is amazing
This is awesome!
BRILLIANT!
Love your videos

Probably the first bullet-time rig that actually has a spinning camera. I'd say that's actually more true-to-life than the conventional way of compositing bullet time!
Phase 2: Bigger! >:]
Ooh... Maybe something that covers a wide radius 45 degrees and involves a slingshot. The ideas...
They used a scaled up version of this on BBC Sherlock. They talk about seeing a KRplus video in the BTS!!
The mushroom effect from the liquid splashing looks the coolest
That's way too awesome!
Nice job dude
That's pretty damn awesome :D
Very nicely done
This is brilliant work Mark. Very impressive!
That is very creative :D
Loved the music
gr8 video man !
Trippy dude
DOPE! Lov it!
I see, you are right. very unusual perspective!
That was really awesome
cool. and great music. thanks for that.
With some proper refining and on a larger scale this rig might be viable and create some neat effects. Curious however if the camera would have to have a global shutter or if the image will skew with a rolling. My thoughts would lean towards global.
Blast from the past....all the VR possibilities
Well played!
Awesome idea! I don't care what other people are saying, this is ingenious!
This was awesome
This guy is so smart and creative :0 and he helped design the Mars rover. Some people man
this is such a good idea
Nice work.
Some part made it look like your wrist was turning 360 degrees and I cringed because all I could think about was how painful that would be when I reality it was the camera angle. This is a really cool video. I think I might try making this sometime
That Sir, I think, is pure genius!
well done guy ^^
WOW that ending! I almost fell off my chair
Good job man
Muy bueno! excelente!
Wow, dude, just wow
here's like for your creativity
and Share for you tiger upper cut. you make my day!
