      What if we turned on all the taps at once?
      How to fall (These are just guesses and not actual advice):
      - Crash into many things on the way down to slow down
      - Grab anything to cushion the fall
      - Spread out arms and legs like a skydiver to increase drag
      How to land:
      - Relax instead of flail to distribute force of impact evenly
      - Tuck chin in to protect head
      - Don't spread out arms
      - Bend legs slightly to prevent them from locking and land on balls of feet for legs to act as crumple zone.
      - Fall sideways and use arms to break the fall

    Mark - a key element of public speaking is that you never say, "I'm sorry." The audience won't know anything is wrong until you do something like apologize - just own the stage, own the performance, and even if something is off you just gotta make "the show go on," through it. It will give your performance strength to do so. You never need to say something like, "this is live so anything can go wrong," you never need to make excuses or apologize for something that hasn't even happened yet. Don't preempt yourself for failure. You are a brilliant person with a wonderfully good heart, and you just need to keep up the confidence that you know what you're doing and the audience is already interested in what you have to teach them.
    Follow these 3 rules:
    1) Tell us what you're going to tell us.
    2) Tell us.
    3) Tell us what you told us.
    It's that simple and you can totally rock it. On top of the basic structure will be your own natural attitude, your sense of humor, your humility, and you will jive on your own.

    The pressure vs force is also how needles work with so little effort. Well, that and that and they're often coated with some sort of friction reducing substance (anything from a thin titanium coat to a silicone based lubricant (though I'm not sure if the silicone lubricant is used for needles designed for human injection use)). The end result is that a needle will break skin with even a tiny amount of force applied (I draw blood for a living, and it still amazes me just how little effort/force is required to insert a needle). Like, the amount of force I use would probably not even break skin with a normal kitchen knife (though I wouldn't try it, as a sharp enough knife would likely cut, like a high quality single use scalpel blade absolutely would)

    "How do you survive a freefall from the sky without a parachute?"
    While you're in the air, for the first few minutes you will be unconscious from hypoxia, but when you regain consciousness, go spread eagle like a flying squirrel to limit the terminal velocity by creating more air resistance. When you are close to the ground, brace and do a few somersaults on the ground to spread the impact force evenly, preferably on a softer ground where the impact force is already spread out. If possible, trees or glass ceilings may help slow down the fall but are risky due to branches or glass shards impaling the vital organs. The folks at The Infographics Show do a lot of videos on these so you might want to check them out.

      @@gili2257 You forgot to mention one really important detail: light bends (or "refracts") when it either passes from one medium to another (such as air to water, water to air, air to glass, etc.) or the density of the medium changes. So:
      1. Hot pavement heats up the air above it.
      2. Hot air is less dense than cold air, so it floats up and mixes with colder air on the way up.
      3. Light passing through that mixture of varying temperatures and densities refracts in weird ways and causes that wavey heat haze above the pavement.

    Hey, I was spinning Easter eggs with my dad, and I was wondering why an egg will spin onto it’s top while you start spinning it on it’s side. I noticed that as I spun the egg tilted closer to it’s bottom (or top) it would begin to spin and balance on the bottom (or top if it was tilted toward the top as I spun it). This is interesting to me because usually as you spin something centrifugal force throws things outward. Why would an egg pull its top or bottom inward when you spin it on its side?

    The cartoon "Aaahh!!! Real Monsters" had an episode called "The Great Wave". The idea behind the episode is that every year, during a commercial break at the Super Bowl, all viewers at home go to the toilet and flush at the same time, causing the titular Great Wave. Apparently the monsters (who live in the sewers) host an annual surfing competition, taking advantage of this wave.

    Is it possible to move a magnetic train (Maglev) by pushing it with hands ????
    My long time unanswered question

    • @HelgaCavoli
      @HelgaCavoli 4 년 전

      I'd think so. If it's ON and floating (with the breaks OFF) a bunch of people could push it.

    • @daeshawnr2595
      @daeshawnr2595 4 년 전 +2

      Full disclaimer; I'm not a scientist, teacher, or anything like that and this is just an educated guess buuuuuut I'm gonna go with a *yes*.
      That large mass means a lot of inertia. It will take a decent amount of pushing to get it moving, but theoretically if you could get enough traction and force then yes you could move it with your bare hands.
      Speaking of traction; for every action there's an equal and opposite reaction. So the more you push on it; the more it "pushes" back on you. So given the large amount of inertia it has, you would likely need a wall to push off of; or some means of not just pushing yourself away from the train.
      The one thing helping you however is that thanks to the Maglev hovering above the track without physically touching anything; it has a VERY low amount of friction you would need to overcome.
      Force = Mass X Acceleration. A train has a lot of mass, and you as a person could only impart a relatively small amount of force. As a result assuming you generated enough force to move it; you likely wouldn't cause it to accelerate very quickly.
      So I would guess "yes" you could move it with your bare hands but you would need a lot of traction, a lot of force, and it probably wouldn't accelerate very quickly. Or you could get a large group of people to help, but I think that goes against the spirit of the question. But like I said; I'm no scientist and would love for someone to shed some light on if I'm close or way off😂.

    I can’t find where to post the answers for the question, so I’ll just post here. When every part of your parachute has failed, you want to look for two things in particular, snow and trees. Either of these will help lessen the fall, but you will still be injured, now way around it. In the case that you see either of these options, follow these steps: 1. Tilt your feet down when you get close to the grounds, and essentially pencil dive. This will injure your legs, but they will absorb some force also. 2. Put your hands behind your neck in order to protect your neck from injury. 3. Brace for impact, and upon hitting the ground, roll forward to try and disperse your force. 4. Stay awake from the shock until medical help arrives. Anyways, that’s my short answer! Hope you end up seeing this!

    Few questions (some unrelated):
    What does mark look like without a hat?
    How does denser water effect the result?
    How does lighter water affect the result?
    Why are water towers higher in the air if the depth of the water matters rather then height of which the pool of water is?
    What about water do we need to live?
    Is it possible that all the particles, cells, etc could pass through a table’s particles if we hit it, making your hand go fully through?

    • @NickyG60
      @NickyG60 4 년 전 +2

      Few answers,
      denser water will increase the pressure as density is defined as mass/unit volume. So if you have more mass (denser) over the same volume of water, the force will be greater.
      The opposite can be said for lighter water.
      The depth of water RELATIVE to the point at which the water is released is what is important. If you think of the experiment Mark did with the water bottle, but now the bottle is a hill and the holes are people's houses. The person at the bottom of the hill will have more pressure because the relative height or depth of water is greater. That's why water towers are made high so you have good pressure.

    How to land:
    First spread hand and legs to increase SA and therefore air resistance
    Second, when u hit land tuck ur chin and use 1 of these falling techniques from taekwondo:
    tuck chin and roll forward
    Tuck chin smack forearms against the ground and roll back backwards
    These techniques will dissipate the energy over a longer period of time and while u will have broken bones, with ur chin tucked in ur head and neck should be protected
