Apple's taptic vibration was so great that it actually had me originally thinking the iPhone 8 had a physical push button. I didn't realize that the 3D press functionality was what made it "feel" like a button.

haha, yeah, though they are both so good now that it doesn't really matter what you pick only if you are either nitpicky or have some interconnected system with your other devices. As for the features... I've got a Samsung Galaxy S10 and it does all that I want it to do... I don't really see myself upgrade it to a newer phone for a very long long time... maybe if Tesla comes out with their new solid state battery technology that would revolutionize phones to get enough power for a week on one charge.... but other then that... yeah the small little 'storage, camera and brain updates' are not really enough to get me to buy a new one for a long time; besides what am I to do with it? I ain't using it as a gaming phone and all things/apps I want it to run; run pretty decent smooth and good... I did had an iPhone before but with my latest update I was kinda sick of Genius Bar's 'fuck off and buy a new one' policy combined with Apple making repairs from 3th parties nearly impossible; so I was like 'fuck off Apple, I go Android!'

The one reason that Apple’s sales started to decline these 2-3 years is probably because their older models like XS is still very good. I’m using XS Max now and it works absolutely fine that I find no reason to change it for a newer model and I probably keep it a few more years. Some of my friends are even still using Iphone 6 or 7 and they still functioning perfectly. Apple’s smart phones are expensive but the quality is undeniably great.

I had purchased the used iPhone SE used for $80 two years ago knowing that eventually she would have to replace here beloved iPhone 4 and that the small size was very important to her so I had one ready and waiting and used it as an extra pocket camera to play with like it was an iPod Touch for a couple years waiting for her to finally give up on clinging to her old phone that if it ain't broke, don't replace it.

The phone still works beautifully on the last version of iOS that it can do, and I used it as a backup phone for a few days when my XS got waterdamaged and I had to wait until next paycheck to get a replacement. Still good. I miss a thumbprint scanner. FaceID has never been as good imo. And fuck wireless charging, I want a metal back again so I don’t have to worry about the back shattering (which is how my XS became susceptible to water). The 5S did a lot right.

The hard edge styling is still to this day my favorite of the iPhone body style, and it's why I've loved the recent return to it - I just wish they had more of the metal that say, the 5 had, but I'm just glad that I have that body design back for now. The 4 also stuck with me for the longest time as I never had a ton of money, and I kept it until the 7 was around and moved to that - though not without anger at the loss of the damn headphone jack (I still want them to take that back, badly), from the 7 I jumped again to the X, then backwards to the original XS for a while (needed to save some money and went for a used older iPhone with the design I liked), and from there I used that until just recently when I switched to the 13pro.

@@bd8843 Good chance to make a couple of videos then. One for Samsung, one for Xiaomi etc.
As an Android user(don't like overexpensive stuff at bad price/value so I was never meant to be an iPhone user) though each of us had a different experience switching threw devices unlike iPhone users that simply had what Apple gave them.
When the first smartphones launched I was still using my Sony Ericsson K800i cypershot for another 2-3 years. It was no smartphone but the pictures were the best at the time and you could still play videos on it or play mp3 etc.
Then started with Android with a Samsung Young I think it was called. Just a cheap 100 euro entrance to Android really. Had it for a while until cheap manufacturers started making strides in Android. Got some unknown brand phone called "Prestige" because of good price and features. The Android was stock and the phone was metal with a nice glass screen while everyone was still mostly doing plastic.
Not very powerful though and it quickly became useless and stuck in a boot circle.
Then tried ulephone power while looking for a big battery phone. It was doing what it was supposed I guess and I smashed the screen to pieces after just 10 months, so my fault there.
That was the time(2017) that I started looking for a big screen phone and discovered this brand that was making ways with decent devices and more professional built than the usual cheap smartphone makers. It was called Xiaomi. Bought my Mi Max 2 and never looked back because it was great and I still have it and it works great still. Then got a Mi max 3(that am currently writing this from) after that the Redmi 9 Pro and now I rock a Redmi 10 Pro as well. Redmi 9 Pro was probably the least exciting of them because sound from mono speaker was worse and screen wasn't as great as the big 6.9 screen of my Mi Max 3. I went for it because Mi max line was dropped but the 10 Pro reinstate my trust with a great 120hz oled, awesome stereo speakers and the most impressive camera I have seen in such a relatively low priced device.
So generally I am now sticking with Xiaomi since all the devices I got from them were more than good enough at amazing prices(all of the different models together probably cost me less threw the years than buying a single over 1000 flagship) and quite reliable since all devices still work great.
I also have a Samsung A20e that I got as a gift. Not impressive but I use it whenever I want to take with me a small sized device since it is like an iPhone mini in size.

I bought it and everyone who was looking at it was surprised, much more than they could be today for a 13 Pro Max 1TB, for example. It has everything of a modern phone: selfie camera, flash, games, a wonderful display, compact size.

At the time though it was normal for a phone to not have an app store and stuff so it was more typical of a phone at the time. The iPhone 4 was surprising at the time, to me it looked ahead of its time and at first it seemed most people weren't that surprised when the iphone 5 came out, they thought the 4 looked better.

IMO, the 5S was the first iPhone that started taking a departure from the classic iPhone identity. Until the 5S, the thing that lets me know that an iphone is an iphone is the concave home button with the square inside, which is also found on all iPod touch models

I went from an original iPhone SE to an iPhone 12 Pro Max. The Verison rep that sold it to me when we traded in our phones said that it was by far the biggest leap he had ever seen, not just from one generation to another, but in the shear size. The SE has a 4 inch diagonal screen, the 12 Pro Max has a 6.68 inch diagonal, and trust me that I had to get used to it, it was a huge phone for me at the time. Now I don't think I could ever go back to even the current standard size iPhone or iPhone Pro. I got it right around launch and it's been my daily driver since, only at 84% battery capacity, well over the 800 charges/80% standard, and I genuinely love it.

I worked on the "discoloration" issue and can tell you this was a major issue top-down from SJ. The result was that color standards and rigorous testing was implemented that continues to this day, with "Apple" versions of pigments/materials and much testing of color, luster, reflectivity and texture controlled. Apple sweats these details.

First one I had was a 5s when I was about 9 or 10 years old. Got an original SE after that, then a XS, now 13 Pro Max. Loved the XS, no stupid cracking back glass, modern feel and pretty quick to this day. Felt like it was going to last forever but wanted better cameras. Also, the OG SE was a fantastic phone. Literally just an upgraded 5s like you said, indestructible, timeless, and fit perfectly in your hand or pocket.

@@pepeshadilaythey were making reference to the iPhone 15 pro max. It breaks just with a bend of two of your thumbs. If you search up "iPhone 15 test" you will find plenty of videos about the weak titanium back.

I had an iPod Classic, iPod Nano [Product RED edition], iPod Touch, and an iPhone 4S back in the day as a kid in grade school. Ever since the first iPod and iPhone came out, back then in the 2000s, the series for Apple has gone far in terms of technology and battery life. Nostalgia!

I agree as well. Even with “max” it’s basically a 3 tier system in their product drops.
