I am sorry I am not with you on this one. You are comparing a 50 years motor design Icon , with a phone that should be much better every year. The real design APPLE made was the Iphone 4. The Iphone is freezed in the last 6 years with virtual no changes at all
The best action button shortcut I’ve found is setting up a shortcut to take a screenshot but automatically delete it without saving to your photos. The screenshot automatically copies to your clipboard and then you can paste without having to do any other actions. Seems simple but has been so nice.
I use the triple tap on the back of the iPhone for my screenshots. Works with cases too!

After 3 months of use I can confidently say that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the best iPhone I have ever used. I replace my iPhone every year lol but It doesn't matter if you get a titanium or stainless steel frame, 99% chance that you will need to pay extra to repair back glass 😂

I feel you bro.. I had the same experience, once I replaced my cases with Vionentus even if I dropped my iPhone on the floor nothing happened.
+1 for Vionentus, the only case that doesn't seem bulky and saves your phone like a shield.
As a repairman I can confirm this regarding the iPhone 15 I receive three times more repairs than other iPhone models
Agreed that Vionentus case is probably the best protective case, being both classic and not massive. However I don't think it's comparable to Megasafe. Correct me if I'm wrong
Upgraded from an iPhone 8 to iPhone 15 Pro this year. The difference is incredible and it's reassuring to hear that this was a good upgrade year haha. The camera is genuinely mind-blowing and that ending was brilliant. Also, for the action button, I have it mapped to turn on/off color filters so it's black and white -- helps me get off my phone when I know I'm wasting too much time on it lol
you are exactly like me lol i held my 8 for this long too but i cannot say it was quite impressive for me since i started to use an android phone with 120hz which is THE real deal for me though the camera captures well detailed photos but when you zoom in photos the quality kind of vanishes a bit too much.
Bro I had an 8 for like, 4 years. Got it when I was 14 or something after my mom upgraded. Recently upgraded to a 14 plus and I couldn’t be happier. I like everything about this phone. I can only imagine the 15 is even better.

I think the iPhone 15 pro is the turning point where we getting diminishing returns in regards to performance and features. The A17 chip is power house and there isn’t any programs that really bottleneck the chip.

I just bought my 15 Pro Max a month ago after having the iPhone 11 for over 3 years. Man when I tell you this is such a welcomed upgrade! The titanium makes the natural color look and feel so premium and the battery life is out of this world! Definitely am more than satisfied and feel that I made the right choice in finally pulling the trigger and upgrading 🔥 btw congrats on the Porsche

That close out “shot on iPhone” was actually pretty surprising, the things we can do with a little device from our pocket. Personally I use the different focal lengths all the time to get something just right, but I can understand someone not using it and just cropping in post.
I really appreciate that kind of detail in these videos - because I appreciate the devices capabilities a bit more, seeing what you can do with it. Now I'm sure they did a bit of post processing on the footage, but the quality is fantastic.
I thought it would have been cooler if he didn't say anything at all and to see who could point it out.
I watched it from my monitor so I noticed it from the first frame, the background blur looked a bit distorted then I looked closer to the edges which is a dead giveaway for cinematic video.
It was very noticeably shot on iPhone
My comment was more in support of the “things we can do with a little device from our pocket” - obviously it won’t beat dedicated camera gear, but, the quality is fantastic and more than suitable for this type of content.
I didn’t notice the quality to the level you are talking about, but that comes down to personal experience and devices you’re using to consume the content.
I like that he announced it at the end, rather than the start, that it was shot on the iPhone, quite literally proving the point that for most, the hardware is great!

I appreciate the Porsche 911 comparison so much as a car enthusiast. I’ve only had 4 iPhones (4s, 6s, XR, and now the regular 15), and I genuinely feel like they got it right. I’ll probably use this until the phone dies or by the time the IPhone 20 or something comes out. I can only imagine how good the Pro version of the 15 is, but it’s definitely a good phone to upgrade to if you’re into iPhones.
Edit: I hope there’s an Autofocus on the new Porsche as well!

Entirely shot on iPhone, but you could shoot it using another flagship and still look the same. Nowadays everything looks good because of production behind it, the editing and effects they add. So, it is not that special anymore.

I think they should have the journal app on iPads and MacBooks. I wouldn't use the journal app because typing on your phone is not the best.

I tried it with dictation, but it just doesn’t work as good as typing. And typing longer stuff on the iPhone is somewhat annoying. So agree 💯
After losing half a year worth of notes in the stupid notes app because of a syncing bug, I don't trust any of Apple solutions ever again because everything relies on their damn i- services (of course).
I love my max themselves, but all of my services are from third parties that I don't have to worry about Apple changes month to month. That was a ton of work notes and a bug lasted for like a year.

Watching on the 15 pro. The only downside is the battery, it’s really lacking. Pro tip, if you use AirPods a lot, I have the action button set to switch between transparency and noise cancellation, it’s so easy and convenient

Can you elaborate what you mean by lacking? like does It only last half a day when used at high brightness? asking for a friend.
@@mtrps_Depends on the usage. But the 15 Pro has the weakest battery life out of all the 15 models. I saw battery test videos of the vanilla 15 even beating the 15 Pro. The chip uses too much power that the 15 Pro's battery could not keep up. This explains why the vanilla 15 and 15 Plus lasts longer since they use the previous A16 chips. But again, this all depends on your usage.

I upgraded from my iPhone 12 to the 15 Pro and felt guilty because I thought I should have waited a bit more. But now I feel better about it, and now I know I have a few things to learn about the camera. Its always a good advice to watch your videos!
I went from the 12pro to the 14pro max and felt guilty as the battery life was negligible and so was the screen. 13 pro max was the sweet spot. With time I felt better about my decision, and it definitely made the 15pro max not worth the cost as the 14 pro max is way good enough
Well, I was used to my iPhone 12 battery life which is not the greatest but yeah, I’ve read a few things about 15 models battery issues, but I just hope mine is okay 😅

Upgraded from my mini 13 that I loved. Was reluctant of the bigger size that I still wish there was a mini 15 pro option.
But I’m surprised how much I enjoy the upgrade. Action button, screen, 120hz, and Dynamic Island make this phone a joy to use.
I ordered mine and will be upgrading from an 8plus. I’m so excited 😁
I upgraded from the 13 mini too went with the 15 pro since I don’t plan to update for a while, considering I was on the mini the battery life the Pro gives me is a nice change, I will miss my smaller phone though.

Love that you shot on iPhone! I figured you would do it at some point. Pretty quick I thought something felt off...maybe it was the look of the depth of field or how it handled shadows or skin tones. In any case, great job production team! My guess is it takes a little more time/work to get lighting right in-camera before you shoot?

For me choosing a phone is quite simple. Gotta have an SDcard slot, simple as that. Cuz I sure don't wanna upload anything into any friggin' cloud out there located who knows where, and accessed by who knows who. :D
Feels like he barely reviews phones anymore other than like google, apple and samsung. i go to flossy carter he gives you lots of phone reviews of different brands and tells you later if the phones still good later with comparisons.
The longer term reviews are awesome, I typically don’t buy until a few months later so it’s very helpful to have an actual real world use case. See what hype feature works and what might not. Cheers.
I wanted the pro max, but decided to wait just because the durability tests were only solid for the regular pro. Always good to wait. I don't have a problem with waiting, so I'll get the 17 pro max if the issue is mostly solved. I'm sure it will be. (i hope lol, wanting to get rid of this s22 ultra really bad)

Coming from a 13 and getting my first pro thanks to this video. There's not really anything wrong with my 13, but I want better resell value and dynamic island. I started to get 15 base but it felt too similar to mine after comparisons, and I can finally afford a pro so I just went for it.

I didn’t expect much switching from the 12 pro to the 15 pro max since they’re both “pro” lineup phones but damn, I’ve fallen in love! This is the same magic I felt when switching from the 2016 MacBook Pro to the M2 MacBook Pro. Very impressed!

i’ve set up my action button to be a sort of super button with shortcuts in combination with an app called actions. the action button now runs different shortcuts depending on my device’s orientation! holding my phone upright portrait toggles the silent switch, rotate the phone 90 degrees to the left and it opens the camera, rotate the phone upside down portrait and it start music recognition, and finally rotating it once more so the action button is up top opens the camera to take a video.
Would love a behind the scenes on your method for shooting with iPhone 15. What lighting is used, how you mounted the phone, what settings, did you lock focus.
Honestly it all seemed like very basic cinema fundamentals. Obviously a third party camera app was used, but besides filming with the iPhone, the process was almost certainly the same as always.

Of course lightning is different for every environment, knowing what lights were used gives me an idea of how bright/size I’d need.
What adapter(s) to mount the phone on traditional camera equipment. Ive seen some cool MagSafe ones but for motion shots thats not ideal probably.
I’d really like to copy the crispy MKBHD Video style so whatever they did to make this video look similar to their typical RED Camera videos id like to know in-depth.

This dynamic island pro tips was a blast i had a 14pro for a month and didnt even notice that
I upgraded to the 15 pro from an X and I completely agree with your conclusions! I told myself I would not upgrade to the new iPhone until Apple added USB C, and I'm glad I followed through. Different camera modes are silly... just use the 1x and crop in post. Action button was very promising, but the placement isn't ideal (sometimes I briefly confuse it for the volume up, when I'm not looking at it), also different actions on the lockscreen vs homescreen would be a nice improvement. The dynamic island is a nice way to show ongoing notifications; it reminds me of Android's statusbar notification icons. The materials and construction of the phone is beautiful (except the thicc camera bump). I miss the sleekness of the X, but the new one is not too bad for a larger phone.
I think you don’t know what is optical zoom . If cropping a photo is solution , then why optical zoom option is given in mobile??

I'm pretty sure the 24/28/35mm "lenses" are just digital crops of the 1x main camera.

I love the insights you gave for a longer time period with the phone. I find myself more and more curious about iPhones as time goes by. I also love the callback to the apple presentations of old "shot on the iPhone" scenario.

I got a case my 15 Pro Max only because I'm terrified of dropping it and it shattering. But the case is clear so I can still see the natural titanium color, which looks so good
I don’t have a case for my 14 pro but what I don’t understand is why he doesn’t have a screen protector it’s barely visible and means no scratches or chips on the real screen just shows that this isn’t his daily driver because he isn’t taking care of the phone

I’ve found the camera to be one of the better uses of the action button as well. A little tip I’d like to recommend to all:
Set the action button to a shortcut, which immediately reads the name of the network your phone is connected to. If the network name matches your Home’s Wi-Fi name, then have it run whatever function you want (I have it set to open my Apple TV remote)
If the Network doesn’t match your home network’s name, then have it run another function (I have it set to open camera).
Now you have an action button that elicits two functions, one for at home, one for away the house.
Can't you just make it check your location and have different functions for multiple different locations?
@@skylab8069 you could, and I’ve done this as well, however, I live on a golf course, and have found that my phone has difficulty pinpointing my exact location.
another tip you can set it to do a diffrent thing based off of your focus mode, location, app that is currently open, if you are next to your tesla you can set it to unlock it, who your on the phone with, what blutooth devise your connected to, and so much more

Gotta say your videos have been the best for making my decision to finally upgrade from my wife’s and my plain iPhone X’s to the 15 Pro for Christmas. What a leap! I’m so glad that 17.2 and then 17.2.1 were released becasue the battery life and heating issues were definitely there with the iOS loaded when we got them. They have been running great since upgrading. Still getting a handle on the camera features. As a 58 year old who’s vision is going down the drain the action button has been relegated to the flashlight. It’s just convenient. Thanks for your great content!👍

focal length is about more than just the crop ratio btw. Notice for example how the "0.5" zoom has that fish-eye like effect/distortion- lenses with shorter focal lengths do exactly this. Conversely, longer focal length REDUCES the perspective distortion. I think for general population (/non-photographer population) it doesn't really matter or its not something they would notice

Same. I can immediately see the vibrant and deepness of the display colors compared to my 11 which has a slight blue tint

The 15 Pro Max has been an excellent upgrade for me so far. Got mine on launch day. This is my first time having a Max (though I did have a 7 Plus and went from it to a X). This is the first time my battery ever makes it a full day. I have never run out of battery yet. It’s great. 12 Pro and X and every phone before them all needed multiple rechargings every single day. I had to break the habit of randomly plugging in the charger while at my desk since I no longer need to. I always had to with the old phones because they always needed charge.
This was amazing. I love these "after a while" reviews. Also loved that it was shot on the iPhone. Crazy.

I finally upgraded to the 15 pro max in natural titanium from my iPhone XR which I have been using for the past 4.5 years. Can't wait to get on OLED 120 hz display and the better cameras. The natural titanium looks beautiful.
I bought the Max version and I absolutely love it and so glad I purchased it. It takes really good photos and amazing videos. The high frame rates and ability to use an external SD really make this phone as good as many hybrid cameras on the market. Definitely can’t replace a big Telephoto lens, or Fast lens that makes nice bokeh, but it is fantastic for what it is.
