Im glad shinee are able to talk about jonghyun more openly now. his memory will never be forgotten. and his name should not only be a sad subject. his life that he lived shouldn't be overshadowed by his passing as he was talented, funny, kind, and a great person overall. i hope people won't always be so upset when jonghyun is mentioned. his passing was sad of course, but he made himself a legendary figure. he was kind, funny, inspiring, talented, and passionate. i'm tired of people making his legacy his death because he is so much more than his death. he spent half of his life training to be an idol and performing as an idol. he poured his soul into his work and you could tell. not only was he a great performer but he was also a great producer who also made songs for other people alongside his own. I think I'll always be a little sad about him, but a bigger part of me will remember him as I remembered him while he was alive. To me, he'll always be that amazing guy who's vocals could cover a stadium and that funny guy that would everyone burst into laughter.
that's just who he was and that was his legacy. he was insanely talented and he lit up the room in laughter. i don't ever want to forget those memories of him

Jonghyun helped me through my hardest times as a teenager, whether it was through his incredible music or his positive and bubbly personality. His passing took such a huge toll on me I stopped listening to kpop all together and tried to push away every ounce of sadness I felt. It's been 5 years since I properly listened to shinee and seeing the members talk about him and their memories so openly lately (+ their new BANGER album) has reopened that wound to properly let it heal. I never knew a person I never met or who didn't know who I was could have such a big impact on me, but there are still days I cry knowing I couldn't help him considering how much he helped me. Shinee will forever be 5 no matter what, and I'm glad I finally decided to revisit my ults❤

Similarly so, even if it wasnt in my teens, they brought so much joy to my life and understanding of what it is to have fun. And I tried to keep on with the kpop but I couldn't, so I distanced myself and every once in a while I revisited it all and cried and healed without knowing. It's just been this year that I reconnected, and watching them be so open and vulnerable, while I was unknowingly ready to get back on train without being sad.. healing.. helped so much, and made me understand what they were talking about even if the loss will never be as hard for me as it was for them.. i am so happy to be back with a better mindset and to be on the same page as them (for what I can gather) and so many shawols that are also healing.

Same! I was 15 when I discovered SHINee with Taemin being only 2 years older than me. I felt like I got to know the members through interactions and award shows. They were always goofy, funny, respectful and loved by anyone older/younger than them. Even though I never met them in person, I always admired and loved them for who they are and Jonghyun's passing was hard to take. I cried a lot, sometimes still do, funny enough I cried more for him than for a family member. They helped me go through my teenage years, motivated me and kept me in a positive mindset. So sad I couldn't do the same and even sadder knowing that due to the way the industry is built, it must be a lonely place where you don't know who to trust. I would love to spend time with them and talk about life. But at the same time, I know it's impossible. SHINee is family

Jonghyun is there. In spirit. Keep him in your hearts and keep his memory alive. Sing along send out love and the energy will reach him. This is a very powerful episode . I love that it's addressed. It's so important for mental health for us to help one another and reach out.

After 4+ years since Jonghyun passed, I finally can listen to their songs again without crying in 2022. It takes time to heal, been shawol since 2009 they're my top fave artists until now, they're the one who introduce me to Kpop & made my teenage life so colorful. Their songs are the ones who accompany me thru my college days & my first job. now in 2023 I can talk, cherish & laugh about Jjong's funny & happy memories with my shawol friend. & I'll support Shinee forever! Hope they're all healthy & happy!

This video and this commment section is so cathartic and healing, I can't even express what this means to me! And the way Key holds grief and acceptance simultaneously sets such a good example of handling loss in a healthy way.
Hearing him say it's ok to miss Jonghyun was something I desperately needed to hear. I'd see so many people say, "don't focus on his passing, just celebrate his life" "remember the happy times" and while it may have been comforting to others, it always made me feel guilty for missing him so much. But now, I feel like this is confirmation that we can hold happy memories of our passed loved ones and also not feel guilty about missing them. I've been struggling with this the last few years in my personal life too, and hearing it from a person I admire so much was deeply encouraging. So grateful for Key, Taeyeon, and all of you beautiful people! 💎

I am so incredibly proud of SHINee as a whole but especially Key! A light truly left this world when Jonghyun passed and I know that Key took it harder than most. I am so relieved that he can be open about missing and loving Jonghyun and just being able to acknowledge his life. I can't imagine how hard it has been for him and for all of SHINee and everyone who knew and loved Jonghyun on a more personal level. And our queen Taeyeon was super close to Jonghyun too so for her to just sit and listen to Key and to acknowledge that HEALTH (we know she meant mental especially) is super important and then took that lighthearted turn in the convo was just... ugh. I don't know how they didn't cry cause I sat here and bawled.

I still cry when I see moments like these, because I miss Jonghyun so much and I don't want the people who were close to him to suffer. But the thing about loss is that while the pain never really goes away, it does go to manageable levels and it's okay to miss someone and cry one day and the next smile at a beautiful memory they left behind. I'm sure Jonghyun left many beautiful moments for all his loved ones as well as for shawol. It's nice to see Key be able to talk about him now. 💙All the best to the members & Taeyeon whom I also adore to bits!💖

Ahh, to think that it's still hard to watch these kinds of stuff after so long. It's been years since Jjong passed, but my heart still aches. I'm glad that the members are being given a safe space that makes them comfortable enough to talk about what happened and the things that transpired due to Jjong's passing. Before, I kept saying how strong SHINee is for keeping on performing even after, and to be honest part of that was selfishness on my part because I didn't want my bias group do disband. But thinking back to it now, SHINee definitely has to be the strongest group of people out there. I followed SHINee since 2009. I was 14 years old then. I basically grew up with them. And for someone like me who only connected with them through the screen and not be able to gather enough strength to watch people talk about Jjong or even listen to their old songs at one point, what more for these 4 members who spent more time together even before debuting, creating memories with Jjong, achieving all these things with him, and then suddenly he passes.
Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin didn't have to continue being a group. At that time, in all honestly, while I didn't want them to break up, I would have understood if they decided to disband. What they went through must have been so painful. They each were in a stage in their careers where they can work on solo activities and move on with their lives. But they chose to stay together, be there for each other on and off the stage, and create new memories as a group while not forgetting the old ones. What strength these four have. I am so, so proud of them. I keep mentioning this before, but I'll say it again. I am glad it was SHINee that started it all for me. I will forever love and support them.

Like some...I too, became fan of Shinee after Jonghyun's passing and I started to watch just about every performance and concert that he was in. And I could feel his sincerity, the genuinality in his spirit, and overall a real kind soul who loved music and really used it to the full tilt as communication. And its nothing to be taken for granted because I honestly felt this instant connection with him, although that he was already gone. And I dont doubt for not even a second that I might be a soulmate of some kind but, Im not sure and yet, its due to this connection. Regardless, I agree with Key. And I definitely know it's way harder for the members because all the attention was on them that time. They still have to learn that he is no longer with them and coping that feeling of losing someone so close to you is never ever an easy thing. i love that key's open about his feelings. he and shinee by extension avoided talking about jonghyun in public because people would always hang it over their heads. no matter what they said, they would hold jonghyun's death over them and almost make it seem like they should forever be stuck sad and mourn him. i think his whole speech where he suddenly started talking about jonghyun on their win and how he questioned why he was even saying this aloud, it's just what he felt like doing. he missed jonghyun and he will live with it. and it's very real his fear that people would use those clips of him and shinee crying about jonghyun to make him cry because people do that. people do use these clips and make emotionally sad edits with questionable intention to make people cry and it feels cruel.
shinee are doing fine now, but they lost a member, a friend, family, and a loved one. i don't think it would surprise anyone that they miss him as he was an important figure in their lives. they're obviously fine now, but they don't want people to think that missing someone means that they're being unhealthy about all of this. it's okay to miss someone even after you've accepted their death. we will all experience losing a loved one, one day. the key is to keep living because their love and life will live through you and soon passed onto others. we are a mosaiac of everyone we've ever met. just like others have passed things onto us, we will pass things about ourselves onto others and the process continues.

When you lose someone it's important to keep talking about them. However, it must be difficult to be in the public eye because you don't want your sadness to be used as fodder for the press. I'm fairly new to SHINEE but Jonghyun's death was so tragic it must be very hard for the remaining members. Onew's illness, whatever that may be, must be bringing back painful memories but hopefully he will recover soon.
