Bill Wurtz - Essentially this entire video is based off of his work on the "history of japan" and "history of the entire world, i guess" videos, from the editing, to the sound effects, to the music, to the jokes; like I said, pretty much everything, so massive props to him. A few small portions of the video are directly copied from his videos (makes up less than 10 seconds total, but still worth mentioning) as well as the majority of the music.
Dream - I mean, he made the SMP, so... course he's on here.
The cinematic boys - A small group of people from my Discord that were going to help me with the original iteration of this project, and ended up reviewing and critiquing earlier versions of the current video. Wouldn't be nearly as good as it is now without their help.
et al. - There were tons of stock images/videos/sound effects used here, and I have no idea where the original sources are. If you were one of the creators, I thank you. No matter how small or large a part your media played, it improves the video.
Corrections:
Puffy technically didn't join the Syndicate, but she allied with all of its members and created the Pro-Omelette subfaction which they're all part of. So officially, not a Syndicate member, but is teaming up with all the members of the Syndicate (and yes Niki is a member)
Techno DID NOT DIE (as we all know, technoblade never dies). I was going to put the Ice Age meme ("Were you killed?" "Yes... but I lived!") over the part talking about his execution, but it looked out of place and I forgot to change that part, so now it says Technoblade was executed, when in reality, he survived the execution and escaped. Probably my biggest mistake in the video, my bad!!!

This video genuinely took me hundreds of hours over the course of months to create. No, that's not an exaggeration, I've had the idea since December and I started working on it in February (not even to mention that there was going to be a whole other type of video that was scrapped, because EvanMCGaming beat me to it). This is by far the most complicated video I've ever had to make, and while it was very interesting and I mostly enjoyed learning a lot of these new editing strategies, it could get very tedious at times and was very tiring (I mean, I was sometimes working 10 hours a day on this, it was crazy). I would love to do videos like this in the future, but it'll likely be quite a while until the next one, and I imagine it will be on a smaller scale just because of how large this project was. So please, if you enjoyed the video, tell me. If there was anything I could've done better, I'd be happy to hear that as well. Like the video if you want, dislike it if you want, subscribe if you're interested in other Minecraft history videos, and share the video to anyone you think might find it entertaining. But uh, yeah. A: niki is part of it too, but puffy teamed up with the syndicate members around the time the group was made, though i don't think she has officially joined

A: my bad, biggest mistake in the video. he actually survived the execution and escaped. i was gonna use the "Did you die? Yes... But I lived!" meme, but couldn't make it work, and forgot to change that part of the video

No, it's an unoriginal, overconvoluted pile of trash.
one or two tidbits i should probrably mention if you havent seen much of the dsmp:
- schlatt was invited by tommy unknowingly to dream, and was banned because dream didnt trust him, he was brought back as an ambassador of pog2020 but betrayed them forming jschlatt2020
- not a tid bit, but by about the start of l'manbergs revolution, alyssa was never heard from again and just ceased to exist in the dsmp world.
i would theorize that alyssa lost all of her cannon lives and thats how everyone learned that death could be perminant.
and if you dont know how cannon lives work: "when lore is involved people have about 3 cannon lives, if all are lost they are dead perminantly, they could come back as a ghost but doing that results in terrible drawbacks, the ghosts could come back with memory loss, could burn / sizzle in liquids, could become alergic to the sun, etc."
- Eret actually betrayed l'manberg in the war in exchange for royalty and becoming king of the server, so if dream wasnt around eret was in charge. he was hated by wilm and tommy for this.
- to try and end the war between lmanberg and the dsmp, they decided to make dream and tommy have a shootout with bows on a bridge, tommy of course loses and trades the nations independace for the disks, a selfless act if i do say so myself.
- george wasnt around that much, actually he wasnt around at all in important events, so everyone made up the joke where he would sleep past everything.
- the l'manberg election started because wilbur and tommy wanted to be recognised as powerfull leaders after the war died down and people stopped caring.
they planned to rig the vote by closing it when they were in the lead, quackity was against this so he decided to compete against them, starting a full on election.
- when pog2020 was starting to lose they became afraid and hatched a deal with swog2020 owned by quackity. if pog lost in votes, they would join swag as a co-eletion called swog2020, combining votes. but only if pog2020 lost. quackity was outraged and joined schlatt instead. schlatt and quackity one the vote by 1%.
- schlatt did like 2 to three things in power: he tore down the walls of lmanberg which basically ruined its whole point, that being to create a safe shelter for its people, he got fundy to burn down the flag and put up a new one, but when tommy burnt that one down they replaced it with an ugly obsidian one, and removed the l in lmanburg. they also taxed the hell out of niki for no reason.
- the dream demon thing also known as the dreamon thing is important later. we will come back to it.
- techno managed to kill both schlatt and quackity accidently via rockets, he then used these powerfull rockets (highly dangerous fireworks) on the crowd.
- wilbur went insane since before the festival, he was going to set off tnt under the presedents throne during the festival once tubbo left after giving a speach, that didnt happen.
- the reality was that there was no imposter among them, the problem was that they didnt have the same ideals:
techno wanted to destroy the government and leave nothing in its place, no way for manburg to recover,
tommy wanted to bring lmanburg back to its glory days before the election,
wilbur wanted to destroy it all convincing himself that he was the bad guy.
- Dream sided with schlatt because he was bribed with something powerfull, he was given a book that contained the ability to revive the dead. he learned it all word for word and then burned it, becoming a necromancer.
- schlatt fucking dies of a heart attack. that is an actual line in the storyline script.
not everything that happens in the dsmp is random, there are points everyone gets two that are important. the biggest random plot point in the dsmp ever was the election, if pog2020 won, this would be a much different dsmp.
- By the time of the war dream kicks eret out of power and puts george in charge, but after eret joins the rebellion and the war ends dream later changes his mind and puts eret back in charge.
- oh yeah and btw, *how the war ends* : dream surrenders, schlatt dies, wilbur makes tommy president of manburg, which he gives back to will, which will then gives to tubbo as an excuse to go backstage and blow up the place anyway.
techno is enraged by another government forming, philza joins the server and trys to talk will out of blowing up the place, will doesnt budge.
he blows up the place, begs phil to kill him, phil does. and techno goes on a rampage.
everyone disperses, phil, tubbo and quackity work together to repair lmanberg.
- the main reason why tommy was exiled was because he and ranboo burned down georges house, tommy took the blame and got ranboo out.
after thinking he could blackmail dream with the corpse of his dead horse, dream snaps and gets tubbo to exile tommy, dream takes him far away from the main lands of the dsmp.
- the egg was theorized by fundy to have came from the dreamon arc.
- dream tortured tommy in his exile, every day he would come by and make him destroy all of his stuff with explosives. and would emotionally manipulate him by telling him things such as tubbo didnt care to visit him, no one came to his party (when in reality he didnt send out any invitations) and that he was tommys only friend.
- lmanburg and by that i mean quackity wants revenge on techno for his betrayal so they hold philza hostage because they are friends, they find a compass leading to his retirement home in phils house and kidnap him by holding his horse hostage. dream and purpled save techno and his horse and techno says he owes him a favour.
techno comes out of retirement
- when dream blew up tommys new home after finding useless belongings tommy didnt want dream to destroy, he ran away and found technos place.
the two werent on the greatest terms but he agreed to help him as long as he stopped living under his floorboards.
- tommy didnt hate lmanburg, he had conflicted feelings as tubbo was his best friend, back in exile, he was given a compass by wilburs ghost that lead to lmanburg as a gift. it was most likley lost or destroyed.
- there was a lot more to the 'dream and techno versus the world' war:
after the community house was destroyed everyone was argueing with eachother, no one trusted eachother and it eventually lead to sabotage. tommy tried to convince everyone that if they let dream destroy lmanberg it would be a bad example that showed dream is in control, but they were selfish and destroyed all recourses that were going to be used to help win the war.
techno, dream, and philza won easily.
- as a little bonus, there once was a tree discovered before the manburg war began that was never touched in the entire history of the dsmp before, everyone decided to box it and keep it safe, dubbing it as the lmantree. niki burns it the fuck down while techno and and others fight.
- tubbo forms a new nation called snowchester and works with jack manifold to develop 'the dream catcher'... long story short it was nuclear weapons made to deter the greatest evil in the server.
jack and niki hatched a plan to get tommy to the test blast site and kill him via the nuke, because niki still blames him for the community house, and jack just hates the brat.
this fails miserably.
- dream pays sam to build an inescapable prison titled as pandora's vault. to seal away any big threats
- 6:49 THIS DID NOT HAPPEN
these two events have nothing to do with eachother:
tommy one day found his base in burned shambles, there was netherack everywere with a sign that said a date, some coordinates and said to bring tubbo.
knowing that this was probrably dream, he got his affairs in order, he tried to patch things up with as many people as he could.
when the day came he and tubbo went to the coordinates and fought dream on a massive mountain.
dream won easily and took then down a mysterious elavator leading into a room just above bedrock, in which there were item frames all over the walls labled as peoples private possessions. what he was doing with tommy he was planning to do with everyone he could in order to control the server.
he then revealed that he was going to kill tubbo perminantly and seal tommy away in pandoras vault forever.
but in a plot twist no one saw coming, everyone came to help tubbo and tommy, striped dream of his armour, took two out of the three of his cannon lives, and stuffed him in the prison incase they wanted his revival powers, which was the only reason why he was still alive.
happy ending! ... sorta
- the egg is this demonic plant like entity that grows vines all over the world, infecting places and peoples minds into worshiping it, causing the start of the eggpire.
-after tommy was done with dreams shit and got him locked up, he worked with sam to build a hotel behind his house. he then hired jack as his underdog
- puffy never joined the syndicate, they just teamed up because they both knew that this egg was evil.
also the syndicate is a lone wolf group made by techno, and was located in a strong hold.
- just so you know, time goes a lot slower in the dead world. wilbur has been in their for about 8 to 9 years in his pov, so he is glad to have tommys company for about a month or two.
- during technos massacre quackity ran away on his horse and eventually built las nevadas, a vegas city in a desert that was manmade by him. he later found schlatts ghost that couldn't go outside because the sun hurts his skin. he agrees to get the book and bribes sam to torture it out of dream.
thats about it for where they were back then, not too much has happened since then due to lack of interest and lore drout.

you should watch evanmcgaming, he has recaps of the story that are like literal movies! he has 6 parts now, all are 30-60 minutes long but they tell the story quite throughly so it's actually emotional even to people that don't otherwise follow the dream smp. it really is like a movie, the first part is still kind of boring because at that point they didn't have anything planned on the smp yet and the quality of evans video is also kind of shit, but it really picks up! just watched two adults cry their eyes out reacting to his video

Thank you. I like the dream smp but couldnt get my head around the whole storyline and plot so i could never really enjoy it. Too many videos to watch and in the summer i figured that maybe I'll take my time then to read all the fandom wiki pages in relation to it just to get the gist but here you are with this oversimplified video. @Light stroke Yeah it's impossible for me to watch all the streams, but I try to watch as many as I can (or just the ones I want to watch the most) and then I watch clips or read the dsmp wiki to catch up lol

Watching this a year later after a year of the members already wrapped up their first season finale makes me go wow
I've watched approximately zero seconds of Dream SMP, but this was very fun to watch. The ultra-dense editing is just about the closest approximation I've ever seen when it comes to capturing the essence of what Made Bill Wurtz special.
Yeah, I surprisingly wasn't really able to find anyone else making bill wurtz history-style videos, so thought I'd try my hand at it. Turns out they didn't for good reason - this took nearly half a year - but I think it turned out alright :)
@@mcbyt Yeah honestly. As a video editor, the months of hard work are not lost on me. This editing style should be hung in a museum for how tedious yet cathartic it is.
The fact that I can't tell where you went on week-long breaks while editing this is really be an accomplishment on its own.

@@Animallover24678 Not really. I was introduced to Dream SMP because of Technoblade's livestreams. I've been a fan of techno since like 2016, so I occasionally watch to see what's going on, but in terms of following the lore and seeing other perspectives, I don't really have the commitment. I certainly see the appeal though. Someone with much more free time than me would probably enjoy putting all of the pieces together.
