i remember shortly after this album came out, i had prom night with my love. he won prom king which was insane and i was so happy for him and we had an overall good time. it truly was like a movie. on the drive home, i forgot i set up his spotify queue and this song played on the long road back home. it was dark with just the light of the street lights racing by and i started singing under my breath. i felt a feeling fester inside my throat until i couldn’t hold it back anymore, instantly bursting into tears at the chorus. i wasn’t even sad, i just suddenly became overwhelmed with strong emotions and love. he looked over at me worried sick that something happened to me, even though he was still driving and he had to double-task. but i just laughed and he quickly understood, letting me cry and hold onto his arm as he drove. i felt so much love that night that every time i hear this, i think of him. he’s my light and i thank every day that we’re still going strong. :]

As a fan who got introduced to Melanie Martinez from their best friend, I've just come to realize how much i love this song, not only because of the meaning, but also because it has made me dedicate this song to my best friend, who has been with me through everything, yet it also makes me cry, Both in a good and bad way, I'm a minor in 6th grade and my very best friend (since kindergarten) moved schools last year. Though im proud of her, it broke my entire soul seeing her leave. On the last day of 5th grade, at the end maybe at 3: 30? We got to school on the bus, and i layed my head on her shoulder while reading some text messages she was sending her grandma and her mom, it said "Totally not crying right now" i remember laughing a little at that while getting teary. Once we got to the lobby of my school, I gave her a hug, but she left earlier then most of my class. There was another one of my friends, she was crying, i asked her why she was crying and she said, and i quote, "I don't want to leave", i tried not to cry and i gave her a hug, but i failed and bursted out in tears, we both did. Now, i live in Puerto Rico, I'm originally from Puerto Rico but i speak English. It might not mean much to others, but I'd like to share my experience and how i felt and feel about the situation, even if it isn't much like other people's stories.
Again, Melanie, I'm very grateful for everything. For your songs, your art, your voice, your inspiration, everything. Love you all and I'm sorry for all of your losses.
