This song is a way of saying that change is something we as a society need, and we especially need a change in how we accept the feminine. I want to start by saying I don't disagree that many, maybe even most men behave this way but....
Please remember to use a qualitative statement instead of an all inclusive statement. Something like SOME men, even MOST men, or NEARLY ALL men. As when you use a generalized statement you include all people who don't do what your saying and it can be insulting to the section of the group it does not apply to. Even just adding "In my experience...." anything to make it not all inclusive to a subset of people when your saying something. As the only all inclusive statement about people, that is true is, "No all inclusive statement is true of all included people".
the way yours is worded is the equivalent of me saying "woman are psychotic", just cuz I dated a woman who was aggressive, angry, and physically vented on those who upset her.
compare that to, "In my experience woman can be just as aggressive as men." The first one is insulting to all woman the second one is just me expressing my experience and is not directed at the entire subset.

Wrote this song with CJ and Nick long. It was a really fun session. We made a bunch of different vibes and this one stuck out to us the most. I wanted it to be bratty and a commentary piece on the box a lot of men put femme presenting people in when they call us names like "manic pixie dream girl." Being forced to play the role of mom & healer, while they gaslight you & call you crazy the minute you communicate how you feel. & The ending interlude of this song is actually called "Amulet." My partner Verde was cleaning out his computer and an instrumental randomly started playing & my ears perked up. It was a track he had produced years ago that was just sitting there collecting digital dust. I immediately wrote over it, but writing a full song for it was difficult. I loved it so much and had no idea what to do with it. One day in the studio 1 randomly was like hmm maybe "Amulet" can be an interlude after a song, and as fate had it the very the last note of "NYMPHOLOGY" is the very first note of "Amulet." Its always been hard for me to understand why people hate this album. Or even her new Era to say- because Melanie is finally happier. Her thoughts, ideals and lifestyle changed from Crybaby. I respect opinions and stuff but you guys cannot be throwing around “I miss the old mel” when she was literally so unhappy.
You arent Melanie Marteniz, shes a whimsical creator and makes amazing content like this to share it with the world to heal. If you don’t like it youre obviously still on a stage of hurting or non-acceptance of yourself because this album is so healing to people that struggle with these issues but are overcoming them.
Thats what Portals is about, healing, rebirth and moving on. And thats the prettiest most beautiful concept an album could ever have.
