Just because she was rarely take the center position, doesnt mean that SM treat her badly.
But srsly SM treated her bad. They were focus on Taeyeon, Seohyun and Jessica since debut and they got the most lines. When Jessica leaved SM, Tiffany got her place and Sooyoung lived in these shadow all the time. She is pretty, talented, she is amazing song writer, rapper and she is also one of the Best dancers in SNSD, but she always singing few lines and she don't even got a center. She was clearly put into dungeon by SM
And still she is and will always be my bias, she has the biggest personality of the group if you ask me.

army chimchim it's because seohyun is the youngest. Koreans put a lot of emphasis on age especially in the earlier years of a group. You notice that seohyun isnt the center much in later songs. That's because they grew up and age /innocent image didn't matter anymore. Having your precious, innocent maknae in the center makes the whole group look precious and innocent. You can't really say it was luck because you pay attention to the dances she's in the center, it's clear that the choreographer wanted her to be in the center at the end of it. This is most obvious in gee(you literally see her rush to get in the center). I think luck would be the explanation for holiday (since(in holiday) she just happened to sing second to last and the dance didn't allow for any formation changes). Age is another reason taeyeon was put in the center. She's the eldest and the leader! It's fitting.
