- Today I tested for the first time cross-region to the OCE data center.
I try out a few Roulettes and a bit of PvP.
Very impressed with how well it still holds up, even with me being from another side of the planet IRL.

Hey Meoni, 1pm GMT, is about midnightish, so about 10-11 hour difference. (depending on daylight savings if that is an influence).
IMPORTANT!!! If it says you can't move your character to Materia. Go back to the title screen, go to data center and select Materia. When you get to the character select screen, go back to the main menu. (You do not have to make a character.) Return to your home data center and you should now be able to transfer your character to Materia DC. Have fun!

@@SuikodenGR Logging into the other DC might make the game register available resources there that weren't in the system before~ And yes, this worked for me, too. My best guess is that accounts only open up slots on other regions' DCs once they've visited them at least once. I didn't have this issue going to other North America DCs.
I work graveyard in the states so there's not many people to play with at night. Hopefully this will allow me to hit up other regions during their primetime.
I know Canada's midnight is about 4 pm NZ time unsure about the US, but you're more than likely to be lucky

I play on Ravana, it’s been fun and hilarious having so many of you all come and visit us.

Healer main in Australia here. I went from Shiva (eu) in 2014 to Tonberry (jp) and finally to Ravana (oce) across the years, and the best method for me to compare lag was to walk and cast and when the casting time breaks, it gives a fair indication, then do this method across other servers and compare the comparisons. Also getting hit during AOE's I thought I had evaded was a pain back in Shiva. (Back in the Shiva days too my character appeared in one of your videos and the scream I did at my monitor haaaa)
OCE also has a lala march on the first day of every month, if there are people interested in participating!
I joined a few months before the creation of the OCE servers and played in Japan. I kind of missed the Japanese players when I moved, so it'll be nice to have more players joining the servers for visits :)

Is it weird that what I'd like to see are people setting up walking tours of residence areas? Showing off the most interesting places on their worlds! I want to see what wild stuff the JP players have developed in their housing wards!

oh wow this will indeed further aid us to be connected with the world, i had to make to alt characters on EU data centers to play with local friends on em while leaving behind my two main characters on NA that i use to play with firends from overseas
once they fully implement this i will no longer have to be forced to leave behind my main character that has all the glamours and mounts finally
I hope this means I can join you in the future for Eureka! I missed out in the early years of my ffxiv journey, and I've been trying to get into it but couldn't find people because of the language barrier in JP (and of course personal social anxiety).
I'm on Sophia, and last night, limsa was so full I couldn't load in 10 feet around me it was wild and I do have a character up in faerie NA the really only time I feel lag is AR roulettes and I'm on ps4 pro 😅
Playing from South America, I definitely felt the latency. My ping to NA is usually in the 160-180ms - which means I have to react to things about 2 seconds earlier -, and in Oceania I got 320ms. I tested by doing the latest Manderville trial, and it was a good thing I decided to tank because I ended up with 7 vuln stacks, haha!

this is basically how me, an EU player, plays on NA servers
There doesn't seen to be any visual delay or lag until there is alot of things happening
or where there needs to be precise movement like on Titan Ex or Ozma in BA and the like
Or the Fall Guys event :D
Other mechanics seem to be handled fine, but it's the AoE dodging is where it hits you
Hope it gets turned into client-side dodging instead of server side but that sounds tedius to do
I mean i play EU server and I'm in the US just because thats where all my friends were and ive never had any real issues with latency being bad. Still able to do savages and even ultimates. So stoked to see what the future holds!!

I'm about to give a Trial Roulette a go over on Sephirot - playing from USA. Last time I tried that DC it was kinda laggy, so we'll see if it's been improved! Ed: Did Titan Normal and the lag actually was an issue - I got hit by Weight of the Land twice and then sent off the edge by Landslide, which never happens when I'm on my homeworld. :P
As it is now, for me, this might more be for hanging out and chatting with friends on other region's DCs and doing casual stuff like gathering and crafting. Not saying the Trial I had was unplayable, but the latency definitely hampered my reaction time.
From what I experience playing on NA from EU there might be certain jobs or situations where the delay is noticeable. Like not being able to double weave or squeeze in one more GCD under raid buffs. But those who raid on other DCs are using VPN anyway to reduce ping so for creators to play with our community, or for casual players to be able to play with friends it's perfectly playable.
NA to OCE last night I could single weave on my fastest gcd job (2.00), but could not double weave on anything at all
Looked like I was able to squeeze 9gcds in GNB no mercy at a 2.44 gcd though it was close
@@-cat-.. I mostly play SMN so will have to test that. I guess I would be having trouble with my uwu sps build, it's even tight when I'm on my own DC ^^ But will be cool to play with my friends from around the world.

We run Orbonne Monastery and we was people from all over the world. It was so good. I personally i have the same Received as Meoni, tha means a tiny delay but for casual content i was ok. For High end i scare to go with that delay. 😅
From my experience, I think Sophia is the slightly busier place, at least for the Novice Network. The others aren't too slow, but there was a significant boost for Sophia since I used it from January last year. My main is now on Dynamis Seraph, since it is the one I took all the way to the end of Stormblood, though.

I'm not sure what to think of this, I'm in Marilith so, even with an influx of new players, there are activities which I've never been able to do here, and I have to travel to another server for them
If my traveling server of choice gets barren because they're visiting other worlds, I may be forced to try it too however, I'm worried because although I play in a North American server I'm physically in South América so lag already exists
Anyway, maybe things would return to normal once the novelty runs out

I played FreeTrial for 3 years on Hyperion and i am from germany
It always said my connection was "Poor" but i never really felt any super laag spikes or delays that barred me from progression 10:00

i noticed at 15:31 you got hit by the ice circle but was out of it before the one before it went off . It looks like you got hit a few times i guess its to be expected nothing they could really do about it atm

this is super useful when its dead time for queues on one side of the world, just move to the other side and get fresh queues, aether 2.0 if you may.
I thought you couldn't do any ranked in other datacenters than your own? Correct me if I'm wrong?
You’re correct. Last I checked you are told if you try to queue ranked that you can’t unless on your own server.
You can queue ranked mahjong, I play on Sophia and had someone from Balmung in one of the matches

The servers don't matter to me where I go, as long as I can go to a server that's active for PFs and not that much lag.
The part of pvp vs. Girlfriend was hilarious and I bet it was as fun as it looked 🤣 ❤ 😂 😅

My only issue with it is the amount of gold sellers i have seen.
I started on JP in 2014 and have played on OCE and not seen more than 5 gold sellers until the Cross Region travel was released.
I hope it cools down or if this becomes perm between all data centers that it doesn't come to JP or stay in OCE because i don't want in shout being the norm...
All of the people i have seen do it so far are from NA servers so i assume it's normal in NA
It's also very common to see on any EU server i don't know anything about JP but i think gold selling advertisements all around EU-NA-OCE already
@@leth9375 on my alt on OCE that i'm on for half the week i have not seen one once since OCE launch and in 10 years of JP i haven't seen any either.
All the people i have seen doing it are from NA servers when i logged on today.
Granted i'm only on oce for a fraction of the time i'm on my main so i may just miss it on OCE.
You guys probably don't see it as a big deal tbh because you are used to it but as someone who isn't it's just ...gross to see.
I'm sure things will settle down soon though or atleast i hope so.

Dynamis Data Center is super barren. Yet the shout chat is full of gil sellers. I'll see one a day if I go to the major cities for more than a few minutes. In Aether I've also seen bots spamming the chat.
You also see bots all throughout the entire world constantly. Clipping under the floor. Attacking enemies from under the floor. Teleporting around the map instantly. It's terrible. I've never noticed the bot farm stuff on any other data center. Aether used to be my main and I travel to others relatively frequently.
I dunno about other region data centers. But I'd say they're pretty prevelant in NA.
Primal server player in NA. I'd say you see the most gold server shoutouts in Limsa, maybe Uldah and Gridania on occasion. And when I see them, I report them. I know it's kinda a waste of time, but I hate gold sellers, and I want to help get rid of them. However, I'd say that the sellers don't disrupt chat to a massive extent... I just dislike seeing them there.

I just want people to be able to queue into instances with the entire region's data centers they live in. Not only would that solve the dead queues for Dynamis, but people who travel to Aether just to raid wouldn't have to anymore. Granted, yes, i understand people DC travel to be with friends but some people travel because queue times suck. Im from Crystal Malboro and everytime I join savage raids in Aether 6 out of 8 of us are Crystal players! Wtf? What was the point of traveling if we were just going to queue up together anyways? It's stupid 😮💨
Although this is great for influencer and youtubers to meet other people on other data servers, it doesn't help newer servers like dynamis. Its currently very low attendance on the server and now more people from dynamis will just go to different data
When dt huts you will be thankful dynamis is low

Kinda frustrating you didn't go see the chaos in Limsa. It was a genuine spectacle seeing that many people in one area. Probably will never see anything close to that again unless they have another test down the track before releasing this feature. The whole world descended on one area and you missed it...sadge.
I fear for the concequences this might bring.
Data Centre travel already did enough damage. Do we really need Region travel to do it even further?
Honestly, this is basically useless. Maybe it is practice for region wide duty/party finder? Thats what we really need.

Sometimes I wanna gpose at someone’s house but they end up being in a different region
not useless because this is a test, once DT hits lets say EU can goto NA servers which i reckon would be less laggy. another example is the time difference, if your an insomniac and play early hours if you need to get something group content done you can hop over to somewhere where people are actually awake
