    FAQ
    What spec spacers were installed on your civic?
    15mm 5x114.3 64.1mm hub centric spacers for the front, and 15mm 5x114.3 64.1mm hub centric spacers for the rear.
    Do spacers cause premature damage to wheel bearings?
    Wheel spacers themselves don’t cause wheel bearings to fail, however too aggressive of offsets can. Weak offset wheels with spacer cause no more stress or strain on your wheel bearings versus more aggressive aftermarket wheels with the same offset, but that is specific to each vehicle. The factors that will affect that are the SAI angle and your wheel’s offset and alignment.
    How do I calculate wheel offset with spacers?
    You subtract the spacer thickness to your wheel offset. If you have a 17x7+45 wheel and you’re adding a 15mm spacer, it will effectively become 17x7+30. It will give you 15mm more strut clearance, and 15mm less fender clearance.
    Do I need to re-torque my slip-on spacers?
    Yes, however the process is no different for wheels without spacers. Simply torque your wheels 100 kilometres after having them dismounted.
    Do I need to re-torque my bolt-on spacers?
    With bolt-on wheel spacers, you should dismount the wheel, re-torque the spacer, reinstall the wheel, drive it around for another 100km, re-torque the wheel, and then you’re on your ways. It’s a bit more of a process, but that is the correct way in doing so.
    Do I need an alignment after installing spacers?
    No. A fresh alignment can’t hurt, but as long as you aren’t changing out any control arms, struts, or steering parts, you don’t need an alignment. If it was fine before, it will be fine afterwards.
    Should I put anti-seize on my threads?
    No! Never use any anti seize on lug nuts. You should only apply anti-seize to the mating surfaces of the wheel, spacer and rotor.
    Can I double up wheel spacers?
    You can when using slip on spacers. I wouldn’t go any wider than 25mm. For this coming season with my MINI, I will be running 2 slip on spacers, both of which are hub centric, since I couldn’t find a 18mm 4x100 wheel spacer. You can go with a custom spec too if you like.
    Can I get bolt-on spacers for 2 different bolt patterns?
    Yes. You can buy dual bolt pattern bolt-on wheel spacers for your car, allowing you to run Ford or BMW wheels on your Honda.
    Do spacers change my scrub radius?
    They do increase the effort required to turn the wheel, only if you use large spacers, however is no different if you’re changing wheels to your desired spec.
    Where can I find the technical dimensions for my specific car?
    If you enter your vehicle in wheel-size.com, you will find that after you scroll through all of the trim models.
    How can I get my hands on a custom spec wheel spacer?
    Send an email to market@bonoss.com.

You actually made me hit pause on my decisions as I now have to revisit and reevaluate which of the two is most efficient option for my F150 STX. Best video yet in my option :) watched quite a few before I cut my stock studs down to be able to mount the wheel adapter ( to change bolt pattern to fit rims on our 2009 Tahoe . Guy sold me new 2018 Colorado rims and that’s 6x120 and I needed 6x5.5) . So I’m going to make sure I have enough lug nut rotations prior to cutting all 24 of them 😝 thanks again ! Sadly this great deal on 200.00 rims has turned out to be a hurdle each time I jack it up πŸ˜‚ I also learned that I have the shiny non anodized spacers but it does have 12.9 studs. So I should clean sand and spray rustoleum on it? Any suggestions? I’m in hawaii so got it new in 2009 and we still have less than 90k miles.

    Hey, so I installed new coilovers and now I need wheel spacers. After measuring it looks like I could go with 20mm spacers. But I think going with 10 or 12.5 mm spacers (or very max 15 mm) is the safer option, because I don't want my wheels to rub on the body. Do you think it will still make the car look better or should I really go with 20mm?

    Very informative and all-encompassing video! You talked about potentially having to shave down your studs. How do you know if your spacers will clear your factory studs without taking me wheels off and measuring the length sticking out? My wheels have additional holes as it fits multiple bolt patterns, but I'm not sure if those other holes would be where the factory studs stick out after I bolt the wheel to the spacer. Thanks!

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  3 λ…„ μ „ +1

      That is indeed where the extra material would go. The stock studs on the front of my civic would poke through the spacer, into that cavity of the wheel. Since every car is different, to play it safe, you would have to measure how much stud you have, minus how thick of a spacer you want to mount, and then see if the cavities for the wheels are large enough for the extra stud. Hope that makes sense!

    *Here's a question for you, since you actually answer them: I have a 2015 Ford Transit 350-HD with DRW. I recently had it converted to 4x4, including Eaton Trutrack 4.10 gears to replace the OEM LSD 3.71 pumpkin in the rear. The tires are one size over stock, which cleared the leaf springs before the conversion, but now the sidewall of the right side inner tire will occasionally rub against the edge of the leaf springs, but not always. Only for brief durations, and not seriously.*
    *I figure the easiest way to solve the problem would be 1/4" slip-on spacers and longer wheel studs, probably 70 mm. The only possible catch is the wheels are hubcentric. The hub bore on a factory stock steel wheel is 5.456" - 5.457". My outer wheels are Ford OEM 5 slot aluminum wheels, which are approximately 1/4" thick, but the factory wheel lugs currently give me full thread coverage. I believe I'll have to change them to 70 mm. Do you have the hubcentric spacers I would need?*

      @@charlieboy3321 They were perfect for 3 years. Definitely worth the extra effort of replacing the studs. And honestly the studs are very simple to replace (you might have to remove the rear wheel hubs in order to get the clearance to install the extended studs though). I only did 12mm (.5 in) spacers and an inch drop in ride height all around so it looked clean and not too over the top. I would 100% do it.
      Quick tidbit, I sold the Mazda and bought a 2014 BMW 328d Sports Wagon (yay) but before I sold the Mazda I brought everything back to stock and it converts right back with no issues. If your car requires you to remove the rear hub to install the extended studs, don’t forget to use anti-seize on the hub bolts when you reinstall them. I had quite the battle taking those bolts out after 3 years πŸ˜‚

    I have two German cars, my wife's is a 2001 2ltr W203 and I have used the same process and brand, except that they are wheel lugs. For this one I would like to know if I can fit an adapter type spacer from the Mercedes fitment to bring it out to 114.3 bolt pattern? I have heard of the 120pcd to 114.3pcd and also the other way around but with lug bolts I am not sure?
    The other car is a BMW X5 and to be honest I am not in love with lug bolts at all, it runs staggered wheels 10" rears and 9" fronts and I would really like to make them fill out the wheel well just that bit nicer. It is a 2006 E53d, standard BMW rims and the only other thing I might consider is to fit 10" on the front and then fill them out or just change to wheel studs. What is your thoughts on this?
    Thank you for a very excellent lesson on wheel spacers. Well done!

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  3 λ…„ μ „ +3

      It depends. I usually go with as wide of a spacer as needed, but not fat enough to push the wheels out past the fenders. If you can keep your overall wheel offset to stay in the positive values, it will prevent the bearings from experiencing too much stress.

      @@milanmastracci Yeah, I've read actually a day or two ago that if use spacers that your spring rate, although, technically stays the same, the spring rate to the wheels get reduced, I.E. say like if in the rear, your springs get softer in the rear, and also u increase wear on your wheel bearings, even though your looks improve on the car.

    Do you need to install extended studs for a 5mm slip-on Spacer or it is only on larger ones? I have a 2018 Lexus IS300 F-Sport if that can help you (I need to clear my caliper for just a bit). Thanks in advance !

    Great video!! Very informative!
    Clarification so I understand correctly.. so if I just need 8mm spacers I would need extended studs?
    I’ve seen other videos where they just slip-on the spacers less than 10mm.

      All comes down to how many threads you have with the stock studs. Once the stud is broken loose, count the number of turns and multiply the pitch ((1.25 or 1.5). Then minus the 8 mm and see if you have enough threads left

    Question: I bought 15mm hub centric wheel spacers, is it ok to put a hub rings since the wheel spacer’s hub bore is 64.1 and my after market wheel is 73.1?

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  2 λ…„ μ „

      You sure can! That's the point of using hub-centric spacers. If you would want to run hub rings to your hub, you can do the same after you install these spacers.

    Hey this is a perfect video cause I'm doing the BBK conversion on my G37 Sedan and I have wheels that I will need to have a spacer to clear the front calipers. I'm certain all I need is a 5mm spacer. My question is, do you think I need extended studs? Or do you think a 5mm slip on spacer will be sufficient with stock length studs? I have the stock OEM Enkei 18 inch wheels (not the duckfeet wheels).

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  3 λ…„ μ „

      To run a slip on spacer, something like a 5mm you're referring to, you will need extended studs. You can go with some ARP studs like I did, or you can go with some from Z1 as they have multiple lengths you can choose from.
