People in various Asian countries have been wearing a mask as a courtesy to others when they are sick for a long time. Which to me makes it seem more childish that some people in the States are so mad about masks and refuse to wear them. It's like a child's temper tantrum. I'm from Canada and have often admired this courtesy (before Covid-19).

I think the issue in the States where my paternal relatives live is compelling everyone to wear mask even though some are not even sick or tested negative. Scandinavian countries and the Netherlands do not compel their citizens to wear masks on the other hand. My own issue with governments all over the world is telling people to wear masks all the without saying that there is a need to take off the mask sometimes so as not to suffer from oxygen debt. As an asthmatic, I do need to take off my mask to breathe better from time to time. Plus there shouldn't be any issue if people don't wear masks inside their car or an enclosed space or even outdoors especially when they are alone and not even sick. It is also bad to breathe in your own CO2 so there are instances when wearing masks without respite can make you faint or at least feel a little lightheaded. If you are watching Running Man, a Korean variety show, you will see that the mainstay and their guests are not wearing masks despite being near each other.and even touching one another during games. But they have hand sanitizers on hand.

But even with a mask mandate, they aren't that strict here in the US. But I most definitely wear it on the bus and inside stores, and I don't see what the big deal is about doing that. And people with breathing issues aren't even required to wear a mask at all if it affects them in a bad way. Americans just love to complain about everything, that's all.
