You actually hit the nail on the head about how underground rappers are actually given a lot of shit for making it to the big scene. That is very much the case with RM and Suga. They were called sell outs and that they 'betrayed' their peers because they signed a contract with an idol company. He talks about this a lot in his song "Awakening" from his first mixtape. He lost all his friends and even amongst all that criticism its SO admirable how strong he must have had to have been and how much belief he must have had in his art and his talent to have kept going. His journey is very complex and hard but very inspirational.

'seoul' is definitely my most favorite song from mono. I remember RM talking the behind the scene of making 'seoul' about him asking HONNE to produce this particular preference of the beat and the tune which took countless trials and errors and it was worth it! I'm going to echo what a lot of other people have said. mono is a brilliant piece of work and warrants listening to from the beginning to the end (doolset bangtan is great for lyrics). everythingoes is one of my all time favorite songs in the world and has gotten me through a lot this past year. It almost has become my mantra, everythingoes.
Dunno if this has been corrected but non of the boys are actually from Seoul- Jungkook and Jimin are from Busan, V and Suga are from Daegu (something Suga references a fair bit in his solo work as being a “D-boy”), JHope is from Gwangju, Jin is from Gwacheon and RM from Ilsan. They all travelled into Seoul after being signed to the company.

It shows the path he took recalling the sleepless nights and the broken friendships he went through to achieve his goal while acknowledging and embracing the title of an idol rapper, refusing to let it be a negative slur that holds him back

No i never noticed the ending part about the audio matching the video looking like when someone produces music & beats. Great observation. Also both RM & SUGA had to face heat for leaving underground to a point some people even hated on them. That's what the cyphers are about 😂😂

He said Han River has to much "Han", meaning the place for sadness. Also Han River is a place known for suicides and the place we're depressed people go. Taehyung (v) telling him to get back home safely...i still don't know how to interpret this to be honest but alot of people were concerned about about him at one point. Namjoon has gone through such hard times. You can react to more of his songs from this mixtape. It's so heartbreaking because in 2016 he was in such a dark place and even tho he is sooooo much better know he still wanted to release this so see if it could help others. A true Angel 💜

RM is so real. I think it counts with any city, anywhere in the world. If you have no money, you just automatically hate it. But as soon as you have a secure job that guarantees a stable income, then you enjoy city life more.

Seoul is one of the largest metropolitan cities in the world and holds nearly half the entire country's population. Especially for people who aren't born in Seoul it has this connotation of 'moving away looking for work' and 'chasing your dream' because basically everything is exclusively in this one city. It's this idea that, without moving to Seoul you can't really get far in life and your options are limited so even for those who hate Seoul it's still a place they have no choice but to love because it gives them more opportunities to pursue a dream and a career the living costs are extremely high, competition is awful but you've got this dream you have so you roomshare with 6 people and you've got a family to support so you can't actually leave and at the same time because you're in Seoul can pursue these dreams and earn enough to support the family you're living away from so it's a bittersweet kind of feeling

Shmo! My guy! I love watching that big beautiful brain of yours work! I know some people get annoyed that so many people are requesting BTS reactions, but honestly the analysis you guys do is always amazing. And BTS are word smiths of a higher tier. It is always great to see reactions where the lyrics are understood and appreciated. I would love to hear what you guys think about the other songs on Mono, expecially Moonchild. Moonchild has 3 different interpertations and I am always dying to see what Shmo would do with those lyrics. And BTS use the same production company, Lumpens for almost all of the mvs, even for the solos. I think its just that they have been working together for such a long time that they just meld really well. They know how deep the boys go in thier lyrics.

For more info: Seoul is the capital of Korea and has a large population. Among them, poor small citizens live on the outskirts of Seoul and still yearn for Seoul. Rm and his school friends did not originally live in Seoul, but his friends got a job in Seoul and he succeeded and lives in Seoul. Seoul is a symbol of success for Koreans and a place of fierce life. Also, the Han River, which was said to have a grudge in the lyrics, is the place where people commit suicide the most in Korea. Rescue workers are even stationed and monitored on CCTV to prevent suicide in Han River.

Seoul is one of the largest metropolitan cities in the world and holds nearly half the entire
country's population. Especially for people who aren't born in Seoul it has this connotation of 'moving away looking for work' and 'chasing your dream' because basically everything is exclusively in this one city.
It's this idea that, without moving to Seoul you can't really get far in life and your options are limited so even for those who hate Seoul it's still a place they have no choice but to love because it gives them more opportunities to pursue a dream and a career
the living costs are extremely high, competition is awful but you've got this dream you have so you roomshare with 6 people and you've got a family to support so you can't actually leave and at the same time because you're in Seoul can pursue these dreams and earn enough to support the family you're living away from so it's a bittersweet kind of feeling

Shmo! My guy! I love watching that big beautiful brain of yours work! I know some people get annoyed that so many people are requesting BTS reactions, but honestly the analysis you guys do is always amazing. And BTS are word smiths of a higher tier. It is always great to see reactions where the lyrics are understood and appreciated. I would love to hear what you guys think about the other songs on Mono, expecially Moonchild. Moonchild has 3 different interpertations and I am always dying to see what Shmo would do with those lyrics. And BTS use the same production company, Lumpens for almost all of the mvs, even for the solos. I think its just that they have been working together for such a long time that they just meld really well. They know how deep the boys go in thier lyrics.

Seoul is a symbol of success for Koreans and a place of fierce life. Also, the Han River, which was said to have a grudge in the lyrics, is the place where people commit suicide the most in Korea. Rescue workers are even stationed and monitored on CCTV to prevent suicide in Han River.
