Can we just talk about how M.A.R.I.L.L.A’s voice actor is always so happy and cheerful, and Narrator’s voice is calm and soothing. They’re very cool characters with very unique voices.
And both are hilarious because neither of those voices fits to a character who is hostile, which they both are.

@@5uperM They have a huge to-do list and their team isn't big enough to do everything so they have to prioritise stuff. Some things may seem important to you in the moment, but Mojang needs to accomodate for _everyone's_ wishes, and not just yours.

In conclusion: I can become a game dev, just not on Minecraft, because then I need to work with a team, so all I need to do is actually be ready to learn coding, which isn’t exactly possible in my situation
actually Minecraft started as a solo effort by notch. He built up a team as time went on and the game grew popular.
Teamwork makes the dream work. Having other people to bounce off of and learn from is great.
as a fellow inspiring game dev here ,I'm sure >we< will find teams at some point, or make our own, all we need is for our passion of games to be stronger than our social anxiety, sounds easy! Right? Riiight?
education i guess would be like the knowledge of actual game design, using an ECS which almost every game engine has now i guess, computer science, it's kind vague, but getting hired as a "game developer" you don't need to necessarily know all that stuff (obviously some basics, but not like *4 years of college* level of that stuff), but obviously you might need to like... know how to write code lol
@@portal7910 Why don't you both team up together? If you can't work well in a team, all you need to do is to follow these simple steps:
1: Agree on what to develop
2: Find out each others strengths and weaknesses
3: Use strengths and avoid weaknesses when deciding who shall do what, making sure you don't both work on the same parts (to avoid more communication)
4: Work on your own part and once you're done, combine.
And that's it
I always had an interest in programming. Minecraft was the main game that sparked my drive into programming (alongside Starbound). I had an interest in it, but never did anything further until then.
I still haven't actually worked on any mods for Minecraft (I play too little to invest the time), but because of Minecraft - I now have an Associate's Degree in programming (as unimpressive and useless that tends to be). Perhaps one day I'll try applying?
I still love coding. It's like a big puzzle you put the pieces together for and then see what your hard work has produced. Maybe one day I'll simply work on a mod for MC for starters.
I'm actually currently working for a degree in development, and a lot of this seems accurate. I'd love to make a mod for minecraft, but honestly just about everything that can be done... Has been.
If you're just starting to program, I wouldn't recommend diving straight into c++. It would be better to learn basic programming in a language like JS (or even Java)

yeah, C++ is a very low level language in comparison to most modern ones, probably not a great choice to start learning for most people
but i think they mentioned it because *that's what Bedrock Edition uses,* so that's what you'd need to get hired at Mojang as a bedrock edition developer, and not necessarily that it's the best to *begin with*
One thing they should’ve mentioned was how difficult Computer Graphics was to actually implement in code… all the subjects like vertex/element buffers, texturing, and the complex math required behind transforming images to the screen.
It’ll definitely be harder than any programming language, but they should mention it as a way to point people in the right direction

Minecraft is the reason I'm getting my computer science degree. I started playing back in 2010, and thought mods were the coolest thing ever. I wanted to make my own so bad. Little 12 year old me had no idea that this game was going to influence my life so heavily.

This is a great video! I’m currently in art school and I’ve been curious about what Mojang looks for from the art department side of things. Are people usually hired out of the community for their fanart or texture packs?
