I’ve seen a lot of confusion in the comment section. No, this isn’t crossplay between Java and Bedrock. This means you can get both separate versions on the game pass now. The versions are still separate.
Edit: To add, this is for pc Xbox game pass only. You cannot play Java on Xbox sadly.

They are not being combined but rather bundled together
@@abba5338 Yes they can't make crossplay between java and bedrock because of the code. Even if they did it would require a lot of server power and there would be tons of bugs that would be near imposibble to fix.

One is still buggier than the other, one has still more features, there is still no crossplay, texture packs skins etc. still cost minecoins(whatever the f that is)on one version...this didnt change anything

I know it's just a question of time but I really can't wait for Minecraft Bedrock in the Mac App Store. It even natively runs on Macs with M1 (by using the iOS version) but it needs keyboard support + upscaling.

If I was in charge I would change the bedrock edition’s name to “Minecraft: Bedrock Edition”. I fill like calling one version just Minecraft and the other version what version it is makes it seem like one version is the “main version” when there is no main version. And that’s not my thoughts, Mojang has said there is no main version of Minecraft, and I think this change would show that.

It's Not Crossplay, You just get both versions as two seperate apps, however that still means you can still play together

I have game pass on pc and it will only let me play a demo of java. Bedrock works fine but java says I have to go to your site and buy the full game.

I hate to this day that they had to split Minecraft into 2 versions, whatever happened to the game just being 1 package?
Because the Java coding language doesn't work on any devices other than PC. If it did, Bedrock wouldn't exist.

@@thearmyofiron Because modern consoles don't support Java games. If you're making a high profit game with a huge reach then hitting console targets is important. While Java games can be rewritten to work on consoles, it's generally easier to make these types of games in C++ or C#. (Bedrock edition is made in C++)
