The glare warns you when you’re in an area that is dark enough for monsters to spawn! How does it let you know? By getting super grumpy, of course! Vote for the glare during Minecraft Live on October 16 at noon EDT!
The Glare had SO much more potential than it was given. I think the Glare needed more 'usability' to even go against its counter parts. Ideas that could've improved the Glare: 1. It is tame-able and follows you 2. It could be like a walking torch. It follows you into a cave and goes off nearby to the player to a spot that is 'dark' and lights it up or 'glares' in a direction and lights it up. It could also make the function that it makes noises when near by mobs are going towards the player to 'warn you' 3. It could defend the player, it would do LITTLE damage, but in caves getting swarmed is like a death trap, but the Glare could've had a mechanic which shot out spit of something that would knock back hostile mobs (which made their way into light areas) 4. It could have played off more on the 'moody mob' concept, with it being moody and lazy in the outside but in caves it's like a scardy cat and gets 'nervous', looking around the darkness incase of danger. These ideas would have been MUCH more better. Most definitely would have improved its potential.
If you want the perfect amount of light without going through too many torches thereby saving you lots of sticks and coal then vote Glare. Plus he’s the only one who stays with you like a cute little feisty pet.
He’ll be more useful than the copper golum but then again the community has a tendency for purposely choosing the least useful (glow squid) or worst mobs (phantom). It sounds harsh but I’m not wrong in my judgement.
Yeah, no. This mob is gonna be useless considering mobs will only spawn at light level zero according to the snapshots. If you need a mob to point out that you're in a pitch black area, you need to get your eyes checked.
Even though this mob is meant to be passive, it’s still going to be very creepy seeing this thing stare at you from a distance, especially when you’re inside a cave.
Hm... tbh I feel like this functionality could just be added to bats instead? I've always wanted the bats to do something other than fly straight into the nearest lava pool they can find lol, and I think it would be neat if you could feed the bats rotten flesh or berries or something so they'd follow you a while, and then squeak or screech in a specific way to alert you when it is dark enough for mobs, or if there is something hidden in the walls!
Next vote for next year: bee armour, like in the tiny cave, advantages? Probably being able to give enemy’s poison when you get hit, and flying away for a short amount of time
Why I will be voting for the Allay: 1. If I die, I can have it get all my loot for me. 2. It would make mob farming so much easier, as it could collect all the items for me. 3. It dances. We need more wholesome content like this. Allay all the way.
It can only carry a stack of 1 type of item. It only carries what you tell it to carry. So no.. its not really that useful. Its basically a limited shulker box in the form of a small blue pixie.
This mob sounds like it should just be an update to the bat rather than a whole new mob. Flies to dark areas? Gives an auditory cue for mob spawning? Hm.
@@epicman1307 Take bedrock players into consideration. It's the same thing as the Spyglass for zooming in on things on bedrock edition. And also, it gets really dark in the moody setting for brightness/gamma, so it could be useful. Besides, if the spawn level will be 0 (I think), why not just light up areas that are the darkest?
@@davestew5135 Imo, Allay is more useful, you generally know when you should be seeing monsters and when you shouldn’t be, the Allay could be great for item sorting without minecart hoppers, farming specific blocks or food. However they’ll all get added eventually anyways, I just think Allays are cool for the lore with Vexes and their mechanic.
Seems like a handy mob for newer players, and it also sounds like it might be a pet - no guarantee though. I’ll reserve my judgment until the next two mobs are shown
Imagine trapping the glare in one spot, then placing a skulk sensor nearby. You could could have redstone doors triggered by change in light level. When the glare makes the grump noise, it will trigger the skulk sensor, which emits a redstone signal. This means you could open a redstone door open by simply breaking or placing a torch or somehow changing the light level in the room.
I’m glad that they’re doing actually original mobs this year, instead of last year’s “exotic variants”. And, from the looks of it, this’ll be a completely original passive mob that isn’t a real world animal, just like striders. That’s pretty interesting.
I would like this mob it should be a pet afterwards and it is really cool if you are in a cave so you will know mobs will be there and wait a minute... is that bee armour😃😃😃

as someone who uses gamma hacks, I find this absolutely useless, you know that pressing f7 brings up a block by block representation on what areas are properly lighted right? The other two mobs are much better options seeing as they offer potential for farms and also negating the use of millions of hoppers on already existing farms
@@gun_exe8387 They are kind of all useless. Allay doesn't pick up enough to really make any meaningful contributions. Unless i want it to collect salmon for me (killed by a conveniently placed fox), it has extremely limited applications. It can only hold up to 1 stack of a single item. The Glare is cute and will only be useful in bedrock edition. The Copper Golem presses buttons when it feels like it and needs to be oiled or it becomes a statue. Its also cute.
@@Jaricko I agree that these mobs wont make a huge impact on the way people play mc, but the allay and golem provide better opportunities for farms, seeing as we dont know the full extent of its mechanics, the allay could very well be a sort of pick up drop off mob that you touched on in your comment, this would negate the use of hundreds of hoppers to move items which would mean that farms could prove to be less expensive. As for the copper golem, well I have no idea what it could do other than crop farms which are already inexpensive to begin with, but im sure some people will be able to find a way if it gets voted because as I said we dont know the full extent of these mobs mechanics, but judging from these teasers I would be willing to bet that the allay and golem would have more of an impact on the game than the glare.
@@imago8343 gamma hacks and full bright are the same thing, the difference is that gamma hacks can be used client or no client, while full bright can only be toggled while using a client. Its a small difference but they are effectively the same thing.
I love the idea of something lurking in the darkness and rushing to the darkest parts of a cave. Could contribute quite an eerie feel to the dark underground, even if this particular monster seems to be friendly.
I am very happy they’re actually explaining what the mobs behavior will be like because last time, we more or less had to guess and hope. Thanks Minecraft Team!
Personally I feel like this mob would’ve been a lot more useful in older versions. In 1.18 monsters only spawn in complete darkness, which is pretty visible (or not, lol). He is kinda creepy-cute though! Can’t wait to see what the other mobs have to offer
My exact thoughts. Might be hard to distinguish levels 5 from 6 from 7 or 8. But if mob spawning is going to be at 0 which is a lot more obvious, then the usefulness of this mob decreases by a lot.
As I've played the snapshot I have been killed by dive bombing creepers from ceiling holes I cannot see. I would very much want the glare. I had three fall on my at once.
here's something to remember, the skulk sensor picks up vibrations, and its quite possible the glares grumpy noise will set it off, allowing for you to detect if its pitch black... not sure how useful that'd be but its a thing
This looks cool already. Kind of like a cross between a Shulker and a Dripleaf. Super Cute and gets grumpy in the dark, a perfect pet for caving. Also wished it would glow. That would be awesome.
I must admit, this mob won't be as useful now that light sources are infinitely more effective. I don't want them to revert the light source changes at all, and I love this little guy, but I don't see him getting too much use.
@@Council_Member The mob spawning change is going to take place on bedrock as well. So you can see with your bare eyes where the mobs could spawn without even using the debug menu.
After looking at all the mob choices I'd say the Glare is best for adenturers, the Allay is best for builders, and the Copper Golem is best for redstoners. But each one could be useful for all types of players so I say choose depending on whatever type of player you are.

as someone who uses gamma hacks, I find this absolutely useless, you know that pressing f7 brings up a block by block representation on what areas are properly lighted right?
@@gun_exe8387 i dont use gamma hacks
Glare 😔 Justice For Glare they didn't know the importance of Glare
I love the idea of something lurking in the darkness and rushing to the darkest parts of a cave. Could contribute quite an eerie feel to the dark underground, even if this particular monster seems to be friendly.
They should add glow phantoms
Everybody would love it

I am very happy they’re actually explaining what the mobs behavior will be like because last time, we more or less had to guess and hope. Thanks Minecraft Team!
i mean....did we really need an explanation for that. They were from minecrat dungeons/earth anyway
BRO I WISH COPPER GOLEM WAS ADDED WITH GLARE
that means the 2021 vote wouldnt matter if all 3 would be added, though yes atleast one of those should get another chance
I would have wanted the glare if it wasn't for the spawning change, but I think this is better and we don't need it. And for that, I am grateful.
Agree
I hope that no KRplusrs will tell their viewers what to vote on
As I've played the snapshot I have been killed by dive bombing creepers from ceiling holes I cannot see. I would very much want the glare. I had three fall on my at once.
here's something to remember, the skulk sensor picks up vibrations, and its quite possible the glares grumpy noise will set it off, allowing for you to detect if its pitch black... not sure how useful that'd be but its a thing
Gonna vote for that glare I hope everyone vote for the glare
The mob vote and Minecraft Live already ended, Allay won
the 2 people voting for glare: well worth a shot
This looks cool already. Kind of like a cross between a Shulker and a Dripleaf.
Super Cute and gets grumpy in the dark, a perfect pet for caving.
Also wished it would glow. That would be awesome.
Yeah,I agree. Although I was thinking it was a cross between a Shulker, dripleaf and a Blaze (because they float)
It could have a variant where he gets a lil glowing berry on his head ^^
We had enough glowing mobs
i would be cool if the glow squid could glow too
@@Daragon45 That would be adorable
I have a feeling this is gonna be a tough mob vote this year!
Starting off with a very interesting concept and its only the first mob!
Oh, hi.
Looks like both of us wanted to see this as soon as possible
Useful mobs for the first time
@@bubble1766 its just gonna be what dream votes for
Some say Ancient Shores the planet minecraft map is the greatest.
Others are too scared to play. Which are you? 🤔
This is so useless, we don't need a mob to say that mobs can spawn, it's just logic to know when they can.
A mob that looks at u terrifyingly at the dark
I'm would like to vote for the glare :D
This looks so different from other mobs in the game, I hope to see more mobs like this in the mob vote.
@ᴅᴏᴏꜰʏ Best joke of the year😂
@ᴅᴏᴏꜰʏ shut up
@ᴅᴏᴏꜰʏ nice opinion bro but who asked?
@ᴅᴏᴏꜰʏ nice joke kek
@Filapator bru
I must admit, this mob won't be as useful now that light sources are infinitely more effective. I don't want them to revert the light source changes at all, and I love this little guy, but I don't see him getting too much use.
Will you play Ancient shores on planet Minecraft? Or miss out on one of the greatest Minecraft experiences in history? 😳😳
Bedrock players: ahahaha nice joke
cute but useless :(
@@Council_Member If you're on bedrock and don't know how to place torches so there's no darkness, you've got a problem.
@@Council_Member The mob spawning change is going to take place on bedrock as well. So you can see with your bare eyes where the mobs could spawn without even using the debug menu.

We Lost 2 men today... Rest in piece
I’m not really sure I’d vote for the glare, doesn’t seem too impressive but at the same time we don’t know our other options
My thoughts exactly
Ye
Same here
Yeah
The concept is weak
Despite this one being the one I consider having least utility, I have to appreciate it’s charm and being tameable
Yah, my thoughts were just:
Holy heck, it's so useless! I WANT 10!
None of them really do much. So I am just voting for the one i like visually the most. (The Glare)
How is it useless??
@@Bananaa_- usually you can tell when its dark enough for monsters, and it's not like it helps you on battle or warns you when a monster is near you

Oy it's just Phoenix and me only in the comments :0
After looking at all the mob choices I'd say the Glare is best for adenturers, the Allay is best for builders, and the Copper Golem is best for redstoners. But each one could be useful for all types of players so I say choose depending on whatever type of player you are.
@Violet Weaver wow use our eyes how do we littery see when the caves are littery so dark and also its very usefull when ur mining for coal and u dont have any torches yet
