I was never really a big MLB fan. I'm still not. Baseball was just never my sport... but after hearing all the hype about this Shohei Ohtani guy and everything he can do... it's def piqued my interest and I've been watching more MLB highlights in the past few weeks than I've probably watched in the past 10 years combined. Even I can recognize this dude's unbelievable and a once-in-a-lifetime talent.

Give it time. We can only pray that things not go beyond the mild 'bat flipping' we are now bearing witness to following home-runs . However, who's to say that after another year or two of being force-fed a steady diet of the antics of the barbarians he has little choice but to cavort with in major league baseball that exposure to these near constant lewd, crude and rude exhibits may finally begin to wear off on the respectful and humble one.

It was kind of, because Vlady Jr was putting up triple crown numbers. Can't remember a time a triple crown hitter didn't win the MVP. But now Ohtani has a 5 homerun lead and their RBI's are about the same. As long as Vlady does not win the triple crown, then Ohtani easily wins the MVP.
@@Joseph-lz5er the sad thing is even if vlad wins triple crown Shohei still has a "big" chance of winning the AL MVP because of his 2-way threat and being the darling of the world media right right now. he's redefining the award as we watch and attracting millions of viewers atiund the world. it is the sports media the selects the winner and the odds are in his favor as if now. vlad needs to win "significantly" in those triple crown stats AND his team to get into the playoffs. THAT'S THE ONLY WAY for him and looks like with 2 months to go he has to do something really dramatic to turn things around

He's a pure baseball Bo Jackson, never thought I'd get to see a guy as talented as Bo but Ohtani is. I hope Shohei can have a longer career but I'd say that same thing about Bo as a left fielder or running back, arguably the best to ever do it. You watch them and the more you see the less you understand I totally think Bo could have pitched or been QB and Ohtani could have played football if he decided to, just astonishing athletes with unmatched work ethic

When Shohei came to MLB, someone said "He is like a high school player", then *NOW* Shohei treats other players like high school kids.
Ohtani hit that ball so hard that it sped into the seats and the people seated around there could not react fast enough to catch the ball lol. That ball truly was (as the announcer worded it) "a bullet and gone" as it ricocheted into the seats and bounced back onto the field!
it was out of there in less than 4 seconds lol
at first I thought "why didn't they try to catch it?" and then realized how I would react if a 116 mph line drive was coming at me... even if I had a glove I would probably duck!
surely! The average person can't catch a 100-mile ball thrown by a pitcher, even with gloves on.
Otani's 113-mile initial speed home run is very difficult to catch, assuming that the final speed is at least 90 to 100 miles.

Sho great. Sho far above the rest in this historic season he's had, with more to go--hoping he stays healthy and can achieve all-time greatness. Shohei said before the season that he wanted to show the fans what he can do as a two-way player if given the opportunity to do that with no restrictions like he had in the past. Now he's doing just that.
Was watching him for years with the Fighters (I'm a Lion's fan). When he went to the majors I was always thinking, "Will he get a chance to show them how special he is?" Tons of credit to the Angels for letting him do his thing. I was always worried that he'd ride the bench and be trotted out for the odd DH stint. It's been fun watching this season progress.
