It was an off day for Ohtani as a pitcher, but he somehow managed to survive 6 innings with one earned run, which was great. And I was really impressed by Trout's running in the 7th inning.
Yeah some wild pitches in some innings but still managed 8k's and mostly clean outing. Also really clutch hitting from Trout and Shohei

Trout was running for his life when he got the base hit in the 7th. Lol let's go angel's!
He is definitely living up to his claim that he will do everything to keep ohtani staying with the Angels. In the opening day, he dived head first on his first hit to get a double, and he was only replaced once by Brandon Philips once so far (in fact yesterday he stayed in the game while Ohtani was done, which is usually the other way around). On one hand it's great to see him extra motivated but on the other hand, I am afraid he would pull a hamstring running to 1st base like that.

Logan O’Hoppe is proving himself that he is a catcher who can hit very well. He is a great new addition to the Angels 😃

As a Phillies fan he was our top prospect forever and he could easily play for us if we didn’t have realmuto. He’s insanely good all around. You guys got a good one and I’m happy he’s showing out.

Key player for the Halos. Without him, they have Stassi, Thaiss and Wallach. Stassi was the starter last year but he would have been a backup on any other team
But, I believe he committed a huge ettiquette blunder. At the end of the game he turns to the ump and believe he gave the ball to the ump. That's Qijada's 4th career save... he would have liked to keep that ball. HUGE mistake
We were getting nervous when Shohei left in the 6th inning, but unlike opening day thank goodness the bullpen held up this time for the win.

I wouldn't call it a "bad outing" (6 innings, 1 er). He didn't have his best stuff today, but great pitchers know how to get through days like these

Absolutely filthy. Even that curve was filthy. The 6th inning was awesome.
His slider is crazy no doubt and can we admit that curve he has is just as filthy. Glad to see him use that more often so far this season.

He's throwing it different. It moves more but is slower. I think the old slider on its own is nastier but with his pitch mix including a 91+ cutter he didn't need a 90 slider. The speed differential is nasty from 102 to 75

So when Shohei was talking to the ump after the pitch timer violation, Flexen came up asking for a ball to start the bottom of the inning. Shohei stole a ball out of the ump's bag to give to Flexen so he could start warming up. What a sneaky, good guy! ❤
Ohtani is resilient. Man, he really didn't have his best stuff but he really did a great job in holding the Mariners to 1 ER in 6 innings with 8 K. Sure, he walked 4 and hit 2, but every great pitcher falters every now and then. Shohei is a freaking beast. The 5th and 6th innings were his best innings. It looked like he had everything going, even struck out the side in the 6th. Then, he ends up getting the winning RBI single. Two-way Shohei! MVP! 🦄🦄🦄🦄
The O’hoppe home run was the winning hit. The Mariners were always behind from that point on even though it was awfully close for much of the game and more runs were needed to hold the lead.

Trouts speed has looked amazing since the WBC! Good recovery for Ohtani on the shakey start. Though Nevin needs to manage the bullpen better SOMEHOW!

ohoppe and ohtani is my new favorite pitcher catcher duo of angels man they really synergize their aura for the gameplay even with ohtani is on a verge of getting wrecke, they get thru it. but of course theirs trout ward, and the other guys drury on first base he is clutch on defense and urshela his basehitting baseball iq, gifo and fletch too wow angels really needs to do this series wins to seriously contend for the playoffs.
Im a Mets fan, but I watch all of the Angels games because of Trout and Ohtani. They have strong players.

The Angels are a terrible organization with an exceptional marketing department, with no drive to win and a festering corruption, milking the brands of Trout and Ohtani for monetary gain and nothing else. Don’t worry, I’ve fallen for it too, but now I won’t support the team until ownership goes, even though I adore Trout and Ohtani.

It's not the best in the world but I think the pen's going to be fine, It's how Nevin uses it that's in question.
Quihada wasn’t his best today, but he showed he has resilience and was able to get the W. I think moving forward the angels should have him as their closer instead of Loup or Tepera

Last year they were doing really well in the beginning. Started going downhill after 24-13.

@Sonic Collections Ps2 Noises ohtani had a very good season last year,Judge had a historic season by breaking the HR record that has stood for a long time. IMO as long as Ohtani plays at a very elite level, he will garner more MVPs unless some dude breaks MAJOR records that have been sitting for a while.

Maybe cuz MVP is not always given to the best player. He hit the most HR outside of steroid era and that was special enough to warded him the MVP.
As great as Ohtani's last year was, voters somewhat got used to him playing as two-way since his first MVP. If last year was his first year of two-way success, he probably would've got the MVP instead cuz that's more special and rare than HR numbers.

Herget and Quijada are 2 of the angels pitchers that are actually good. They only have up one run each which isn’t terrible.

Ohtani's hit to the third line was a ball that would have ended in a strikeout until last year. He's definitely evolved and it's scary how far his evolution will go. And Trout's running was great. That's what a professional does.

Ohtani had a hard time due to the game control problem that showed him to be the best player, but as a batter with eight strikeouts and one run in six innings, he hit a timely hit + two walks
in REALITY ... he is about the 18th best hitter in MLB
try stay in reality... Ohtani = 10th in OPS, 11th in HRs, 18th in RBI, 10th in slug%, 4th in caught steals, 63rd in stolen bases, 39th in batting average, 45th in doubles, etc. etc.

Twice during that game the Mariners walked not just Trout, but Ohtani immediately after him. And it cost them no runs. The Angels desperately need someone decent at the 4 and 5 spots in their lineup.

We will see if he can c9ntinue to make the calls once Stassi is back, but so far it will be an interesting fight on who gets to play catcher as O Hoppe making a statement and making good with his opportunities thus far.

Looks like the same Angels we know and love. 6th inning, with no one in front of them, Trout and Ohtani get on base but can’t score. 7th inning, runners get on in front of them and Trout/Ohtani cash them in.
Then the bullpen tries to give it away with bad pitches up in the zone. The only thing that makes this not the most vintage of Angels wins is the fact that Ohtani still got the win thanks to a timely RBI from…himself.
Adding to this: the Angels’ 4-5-6 hitters are a combined 0.164 on the season (0.091 if you take out their best game). I am so very ready for this comment to age like milk, but it looks like another ~80-win season in the making as we waste yet another year of two of the best players to every play the game.
