I grew up in a middle class family, with an allowance of $5 a week for doing chores. I was just an average teenager who couldn’t fathom more than $100 at a time before blowing it on a shopping trip. Then I started youtube, and everything changed. My view counts grew and I began receiving checks from google for the ad revenue. They started small.. $150 my first month, $300 the next… but quickly began increasing and before I knew it I was a teenager making thousands of dollars a month. I was put in a unique financial situation, I’ve always made more than the average person my age. I prided myself in thinking I would always be so responsible with how I spend my money, but once you have it- it’s easy to lose control.
As the checks became bigger and more frequent, you can see how it became easy to lose sense of the value of a dollar. I am thankful for the money that I have made and have saved a great deal of it, but along the way I of course made some mistakes. Today I want to share with you my worst purchases, and financial regrets.

Also, it's a lot of work when you look at the hours editing and filming B footage and coming up with new ideas. We are very fortunate the majority do it because they love it and not for money. Honestly, I’m not good at much. BUT one thing I think I can brag about is how good I’ve always been with my money. I left home independent at 17. (I DONT recommend that, unless you were in a situation like mine and you need out!) I bought a car outright (not a brand new one, but definitely nicer than most peoples first car!) every penny I made I saved and budgeted. Now being 21 I just got approved for a mortgage and still will have my long term savings account. My only advice is SAVE SAVE SAVE! Know the difference between a “want” vs “need”

Good on you! It's hard being so independent at this young age when everyone around me's parents still pay for literally everything. But I also pride myself in being so independent and knowing whatever I purchase and achieve will always be on me, I will never have to thank someone for it. Today was a big day, I got approved to have my credit card (independent not linked to someone else's, most kids my age will have one linked to their parents) and I opened my savings account!

Yes, when I was 20 my boyfriend of a year convinced me into buying a house that he had no money for. I had a good chunk of money saved since I had been working a lot prior to this because I was set to return to school to finish my bachelors. I was dumb and in love and I put in the down payment bought a washer and dryer etc. and we moved in. Long story short, we lived there for 3 years and my boyfriend could not handle finances and would lie and tell me he paid things when he didn't, he worked a seasonal job, and I was constantly working and trying to keep us afloat and eventually had to drop out of school. After many arguments, shut off notices, and empty and broken promises from him I broke up with him, It's been 2 years but choosing to live at the house was a major blow to my finances and credit and I'm still trying to remedy it. If I could see my 20 year old self now I'd punch her in the face.

oh yeah thats me too. Its only $10 a month, but also considering I am not a big makeup person I probably could be saving that $10 and just buying the products I want and then having the rest go towards saving for other things. But also I just have not canceled it because I do feel like if I only spend $10 a month to "treat myself" then its not really THAT bad, and I also have not gone out and bought a mascara or really any other makeup product besides foundation in the 3 years since I started getting it, so MAYBE it is saving me a little money, and whenever im having a bad day I always have a random face mask lying around

Truthfully, my dumb/irresponsible financial mistakes are a result of impulse buying. I am such an emotional spender. It’s horrible. If I’m having a difficult day, stressed out, or having an argument with my boyfriend, or had a rough day at work, etc-I realize that I’ll do some online shopping, or purchase a $6 cup of Starbucks coffee, or go see a movie-and although those things provide temporary satisfaction, put a smile on my face, and provide some distraction from the overwhelming situation I may be going through-I’ve learned that ultimately my impulse buying and emotional spending adds up and now I’m left without money that I could have added to my savings account, instead of buying things I didn’t need.

First time ever on this channel. I sort of went down a rabbit hole of these worst purchases videos and of all the youtubers I have watched, I have instantly subscribed. This is a genuine list of money mistakes that are relatable, like not paying fines on time or getting scammed for services rendered. It's not an annoying list of luxury items that youtubers fell out of love of and now hate but will continue to buy more of. This is actually a list showing someone who is learning to be better with money and being honest about it, and I really appreciate that. I have actually learned one or two things. Instant fan

Dealerships don't make money off of the interest on your loan, the bank you are financing through does. The reason for this is that they are taking on the risk of purchasing the vehicle for you. Yes, dealers make money but they make money other ways. So how do dealers make money off of financing? There's something called reserve that the financing bank will pay to the dealer for essentially securing the loan for them, like a kickback. The customer who is purchasing the vehicle does not pay for that in any way whatsoever. Source: 7 years in the car business.

A lot of the time you can get loans through a dealership - not the bank. The dealership itself doesn’t physically have $30000 (or whatever amount) to loan, it has a car to put up for loan. So they’re making cash from the interest for trusting that you will pay the money back.

I ordered clothes (4 pieces to be exact) from Australia for 200 euros and it was free shipping, so I thought that was it and waited happily.... until today. The delivery man asked for an after reception for custom clearance and stuff which apparantly costs the half of the amount I paid for the clothes. Also, if I asked for a refund I still would have to pay a 100 euros to ship it back to Australia. So obviously I'm gonna have to get a 100 euros from somewhere, pay these extra shits and accept the mistake I've made of being soo dumb. I know that I was the stupid one, but I really didn't know that I'm gonna have to pay so much more. I wouldn't have purchased them obviously. My dog saved my financial life. I used to be down right horrible with my money. I was living alone and once paying my rent, id blow the rest online shopping for clothes and whatnot to distract from the sadness and boredom that I felt being alone. One day I decided to adopt a dog cause I’d finally had enough of being lonely. Immediately I started saving all of my money once I got her. The fear of something happening to her and not being able to cover medical bills or expenses, and possibly losing her because of that was (and still is) terrifying. Its a huge motivator for me to save and be frugal because I have another living thing depending on me. I also love to spoil her so it’s imperative that I budget a “doggy allowance” along with my savings. I’ve found that having someone or something counting on you is the biggest kick in the ass you’ll ever receive to be responsible with your money.
