This scene feels like it's straight out of myth. Thor taking on the might of an entire sun, Eitri melting the ingots of Uru with starlight, and most of all, Groot cutting off his own arm for Stormbreaker's handle. You can pretty much imagine a village elder sitting at a campfire on a starry night, narrating the legend of how Groot gave his own left arm for Thor's life.
I imagined that but in New Asgard, an old man telling how Thor, Odin son, saved Asgard from his evil sister, Hela, the godess of death

Iron Man's most defining scenes are all in his first movie. His entrance and battle at Gulmira really defined the character. Also every scene in the cave was so pivotal.

This is more of a durability feat, if anything else. Taking the full force of a star, for about 50 seconds, is an incredible feat of toughness. Most would have been vaporized against that level of heat.

For anyone wondering Grootβs Arm is the next best thing that Thor couldβve gotten as a Battle Axe Handle. Grootβs Bark is stronger than adamantium and can rapidly regrow if the handle was broken.

@@theraber7780 oh it is MUCH stronger than Adamantium. In the comics Groot was once trapped in Adamantium cage which was latter exposed to high energy which was so hot it melted and destroyed the metal in a matter of seconds while Groot was untouched.

2:07 I remember first time I saw this in theaters, this very moment brought me so much excitement. To see Groot give up an arm to create a handle for the next greatest weapon Thor has ever obtained seemed like something straight out of folklore.

Well a lot of people think its funny when Thor says only if I die. But I think he truely meant it. In the sense that star's Energy will be able to kill him only if he surrenders or goes unconscious. He is just so determined to kill Thanos that he won't let anything/anybody kill him

Does anyone start getting tears at 2:24 when Stormbreaker begins revitalizing Thor? It's only a few seconds, but up to this point Thor has lost everything and brought down so low, and at the last moment of his dying breath he's given power beyond measure to make things right again!

I love infinity war more than endgame. The tension building up as thanos near to his goal, the fights happening on two different places, and thor on his adventure to make a weapon of destruction. This was the prime MCU. The buildup and story telling of infinity war was unmatched.

I like how they basically used and merged the designs of comics Stormbreaker and Jarnbjorn, as well as the Ultimate Universe's Mjolnir, as basis for the MCU Stormbreaker. It is one hell of a badass weapon design

Groot and his photosynthesis and photonic memory gets stronger from powers and light emanating from people and sources around him. He wouldve got a short stint of cosmic star power when he made the handle thus making him and the handle strong enough for the Stormbreaker to be formed.
Pretty helpful how Groot makes the handle. I wonder if the Ents, from Middle Earth, can help make wooden handles from a part of them for weapons that require them.

I still can't believe they literally started the un-pausable process of casting Stormbreaker without even knowing where the handle was. That's like launching a rocket, and right after the boosters ignite, realizing "Oh crap, we forgot the payload!"

I like how the fact that after Thor Ragnarok that they said thor did not need a weapon to be powerful but that the power was inside of him all along and still that idea was tossed aside in infinity war
Well, talent without training is nothing, even being a god. They were in an emergency crisis so everything was valid to win
thor doesnβt need a weapon to be powerful, same goes for odin and gunjir. that being said, these weapons still help focus and enhance their innate powers and may provide other abilities (like bifrΓΆst and flight). thats the point of this scene, from this point onwards thor shouldβve become basically unstoppable but the mcu fucked him up
No need for weapons to be powerful. But a weapon really says a different kind of "F*ck you in particular" when the situation demands it! π
Meanwhile in an alternate reality, Hulk is fighting zombie Wanda while T'Challa, Scott, and Peter make their way to Wakanda where zombie Thanos is waiting.
