Did yall notice rocky was in that film class as well?! Now when rocky was talking to steve that night...he was telling steve how to beware of his surroundings. By telling steve everything about about the neighborhood. And how he peep everybody business. And remember the teacher said during that movie in class..two people could watch the same movie and get two different understanding. So steve was looking at king as a story that he can come up with in a film. While king was putting him in a living story. Moral of the story: be careful of the company that keep...cause some people have different motives for your friendship. In the words of mo3...EVERYBODY AINT YOUR FRIEND..EVERYBODY AINT YOUR PARTNER!!

Brilliant story and plot twist. Steve was played by the Bully peer-pressuring him to do something that he didn't want to. It's nature, the alpha-male asserts his dominance over the Beta. Steve knew he was wrong and if the jury knew what really went down, he would be found guilty because ultimately; he was. But of course, he's not going to admit anything. So, the moral to the story is - choose who you hang around wisely because people can get you into trouble. And more importantly, have the bravery to say no or just bail on dicey situations, easier said than done I know, but we learned a very valuable lesson from this movie that we can apply to real life, no? Peace and love yall

Yes. And it breaks my heart that there are many real life 'Steves' in jail right now, who weren't cleared the way that he was in the movie.

I think Bobo testimony is critical to understanding the ending. We are led to believe that King and Bobo approached Steve and gave him instructions on what to do. However, on the stand Bobo testified that he never had a conversation with Steve nor did he hear any instructions given to Steve by King. When pressed on specifics by the defense lawyer, he simply said" that was king's man." Just wondering whether we are purposely being misled about the ending in order to look at the ending more critically.

Most beautiful cinematic. Journey throughout the living of 17 years old kid who innocent through a root of his life, that from something into something more that we don't know what he become after and yet gives audience to imagine what he become after. It sad story and ending with too many question. This story is about a kid who shape his own self of what he will become, how he judge the world while he the one who've been judge by people around him while he bein tied up can't spit out any of his word of truth. This story touch my heart and audience heart too much. And we greatful this art is exist to filled in a gap that been long empty..

For those of you who are watching this movie and haven't lived thru this kind of life, I have two words, Believe It! It is too real. For those of us who have, I can tell you watching this film, you will feel your gut wrench as it brings back memories of your own experiences in life, you will be literally slapped in the face and soul with it's Truth and for lack of a different word, Realness.
I've seen many movies and read many books before that have unfolded the realties of how countless lives like this play out, but this masterpiece depicts us to the core!
Most people don't realize the rules you HAVE to live by as soon as your old enough to know anything else. Trust no one, and that means not even your family, be careful who you talk to, remember that every time you go outside you risk your life, don't call the police when your in trouble, because they'll want a piece of you to, and so many more.
I'm older now, and I'm still in awe and confusion when someone hits the refresh button and talks about the injustices that have been happening recently, it has been happening for so long, how is it new news.
My review is too long and I can keep going. Point is, if the subject of this movie has never been your life, watch this movie more than twice and try to SEE. And if it has touched your life, emotions will stir, be careful, you might drown in your sorrow of memories.

@@DanielaArte The guy could have owed them money, the guy could have been the pimp of the women in the window, he could of been a drug dealer, the store could have been a cover like the other place they talked about. Fact is he didn't know what would happen and they never told him what they were going to do.
He asked why and he was told not to ask questions. He wasn't a detective he was a scared school boy.
I also bet if you had very 2 menacing gang members stood over you telling you to simply point at something you would do it. Thousands would.
We also don't know if he gave a signal. What the signal would be was never determined. He didn't look at them, nod or whistle. He looked at the sky. He told the court this. Was it a signal, probably not. In the moment he didn't know what to do and there definitely wasn't a clear signal to say go and rob the place. Watch the movie again. Maybe imagine the character as a 17yo blonde girl with blue eyes🙄 He was innocent and told the truth.
