In this my new video of Spider-Man: Edge of Time you can see the moment when Miguel O'Hara saves Mary Jane.
This spider man 2099 saves mary jane video was recorded, played and edited completely by me, the video is taken from the Xbox 360 version of the game.
In Spider-Man: Edge of Time Peter Parker and Miguel must work together to avoid the formation of an alternate future ruled by Alchemax. During the story mode of the game Spider-Man 2099 he will have to save Mary Jane's life and change her future.

After all these years, this scene is still so relevant, especially after watching across the spider-verse.
That film does make a lot of connections to prior media. Like the death Miles’ dad being a “canon event” began with the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon followed by the 2018 game. Don’t know if it was on purpose but it works regardless.

I swear this game alone is proof of why Miguel deserves his own game, it really showed how he went from a guy who simply wore a mask to truly embodying what Spider-Man is supposed to be. Hoping Miguel in ATSV learns the same
He'll have a whole redemption ark in the third film guaranteed. The writers know he's way too beloved to be left as a villain, even a misguided one. Miguel was always a jerk in the comics which is what made his character so interesting. He was an angry jerk with a vendetta who slowly matured and realized what it truly means to be called spider-man. His whole character is about evolution and personal growth.

I get the feeling that a lot of people are giving Miguel a hard time, especially after Across The Spider-Verse came out. Look up the timeline that Miguel is from, specifically look up how he got his powers AND how very few heroes remain in his time and you tell me if you would be as chill as most other Spidermen or Spiderwomen in the multiverse.
thats why I side with him and understand where he's coming from. But I also would want him to GO WITH MILES to save his dad
@@johnmivule-novabow8143 right now the big question is how they will save him. Even if Miles wasn't meant to be Spiderman, the Canon Model, Mile's vision of the future, and Miguel's reluctance to outright harm Miles show he is part of the canon. If he breaks it, his universe will unravel, taking everyone, and his parents, with it. And its not like Miguel hasn't been trying to find a way to cheat fate either, he said so himself. Miles ran in blind without a plan, but between him being stuck in different dimension and Gwen forming her team they now have some time to form a plan.
So, part 3 is likely going to be Miles discovering a way to break or work around the canon that Miguel wasn't able to find. And of course helping Miguel work through a lot of unresolved trauma that he was dumping on both Miles and Gwen over his own mistakes and guilt.
I suspect Spot may end up being the key to it. How exactly, i haven't the foggiest idea, but Spot is set up to be an integral part of the movie, he can tear holes in dimensions, and curiously iirc, Spot was the only character who didn't "glitch" when in another dimension besides his original. They're gonna do something with him besides just kick his ass.

This dialogue alone shows how far Miguel has come as a character after interacting with Peter in the game, and just how much respect he has for Peter! The dude knew that this was a stupid move considering the timeline would snap back to normal once they fixed everything, but he chose to go and save her because Miguel understands how much Mary Jane means to Peter. The thought of her dying even once is devastating to Peter, and Miguel needs Peter to focus as much as possible on the task at hand. So out of respect for his namesake, and to keep Peter focused and motivated, he upholds what it truly means to be spiderman, and saves Mary Jane's life as a solid to Peter for everything he's done for the world, and to solidify his place as the new spiderman. Showing Peter he's not just some guy in a costume copying him, but that he is a real hero who is worthy to hold the name soiderman.

Makes sense too. This scene perfectly contrasts both Miguel's and Peter's personality. Especially when he starts to argue that "the future depends-". Just swap future with mutiverse and you got Across the Spider verse Miguel
so I hope that means Miguel will change his theory in the next movie & help miles save his dad ...that might be too much of a "disney" ending but after what happens in this game, it could happen
I would also love to see miguel's trauma resolved or see him cry etc. he needs to let all that out lol
1:00 after seeing Across the Spiderverse, this really hits what Miguel and the Spider Society were getting wrong about being a Spider-Man. Being Spider-Man means trying to save others no matter what because they lost someone important to them the first time around. Even if they don’t end up saving the person (Captain Stacy, Gwen, etc.), they’re still gonna keep trying again and again.
Yeah they should try to help everybody but this whole thing feels like Flashpoint but instead of Spider-man having time traveling powers, they are able to know the future and change it. Saving one person can ruin the whole timeline but at the same time not saving them knowing they'll die feels wrong. Similar to how Indian Spiderman's world got that hole when Miles saved that one officer.

I love the Dialogue at 6:30. Miguel reassuring Peter that he wouldn’t do this if he thought he couldn’t was comforting to hear.
The dialogue in the game between Peter and Miguel is just amazing, and probably the biggest highlight of the game. Helps with having Josh Keaton and Christopher Daniel Barnes as the VA’s.
Also that Miguel in the comics at times was a bit of a reluctant hero

This right here perfectly shows the difference between EoT/Comic Miguel and AtSV Miguel. One is still willing to help reluctant as he may be, and the other is an immovable mountain of resolve.
One hates cooperate and bureaucratic villians and the other created an organization that polices the multiverse with himself as its ruler.
You can't look at comic Miguel and movie Miguel then say they're the same character. They are VASTLY different people.
I personally believe that Miguel from the comics and ATSV Miguel could not be more similar, but ASTV Miguel is stuck in his way for one entirely different factor which has always been a big part of Miguel's character:
Guilt.
Miguel, first of all, has massive control issues.
His entire childhood he had a controlling dad (who threatened to beat his mom and brother if miguel got out of line) and his mom wasn't much better, let's face it.
And even when grows older, miguel still feels he is being controlled by the people from his job at alchemax (to the point he later goes on to fight alchemax).
Miguel by now has learned to do everything himself and depend on others the least amount possible, because this kind of life has made him a perfectionist. He has a pretty big fear of failure, and he feels so much guilt when something gets fucked up that it feeds his need for control.
He wants to do everything himself because in his opinion, if HE does it then he can minimize screw-ups as much as possible.
Now normally this would be fine-ish. It's not as extreme as it is in ATSV. But that's where Gabriela comes in.
Miguel decides to put his own happiness first for once, and it goes SO horribly wrong.
It's not just Gabriela dying, mind you, that's a whole UNIVERSE aka millions of people on HIS conscience, all because HE made a *mistake*.
This greatly accelerates his perfectionism and sense of guilt by a metric ton. He CANNOT afford to make mistakes, because to him that feels like he's failing people all over again.
Hence, the need for control GROWS. And so does his anger, which stems from his inability to do so.
Miguel clings onto canon events like he does because if things really were set in stone, that makes predicting and controlling future situations all the more easy.
And then comes Miles. This kid he can't control, who won't listen, and is trying to call into question the very thing that is upholding Miguel's sanity.
So he gets, predictably, PISSED, and we all know what happens next.
Miguel's entire spider-society is based on absolving himself of the guilt he feels.
He's not a different character, he's just the same character who got put through so much he's completely lost himself to his work.
Because SPIDER-MAN was the thing that got him free from alchemax. Saving people helps him feel less useless, and above all, less guilty.
Yeah so this became an essay, i'm sorry for putting you through that, if you've read it all. But that's my two cents on the matter on why i think they're the same.
They are the same character, but ATSV Miguel witnessed an entire universe die because he wanted to be happy with his family, so he’s insanely bitter

@@acc314okay so having read some comics and now returning I can confidently say: it makes sense but also no.
Something similar happened to Miguel in the comics where Nueva York was flooded (Thanks to Namor) and Miguel didn’t radically change his character to what we know in the movie.
I guess he could’ve changed and it would’ve made sense but in the comics Miguel doesn’t become movie Miguel.
So either movie and comics Miguel are two completely different people or they are similar for the most part but they both took different paths based on how they handled such a loss.
8:26. Miguel’s gone a long way. For those of you not in the know, Miguel started out very different from Peter Parker.
His dad was abusive, he was part of the city’s elite as a successful geneticist and he unapologetically worked for one of the most corrupt companies in North America.
Miguel was a selfish jerk before he was Spider-Man. I mean, what else would you call someone who’d steal his brother’s girlfriend? He didn’t even wait for them to break up and his brother’s actually a nice guy.
Miguel does have a conscience but it took being chased by a corrupt company for him to actually listen to it and act on it.

I really, really hope that Sony and Marvel brings this quote in some shape or form to the "Beyond The Spider-Verse" movie. It sums up everything about Spider-Man. That he or she will not allow anyone else to go through the same pain and suffering that they have felt. When losing someone dear to them.
Plus the consequences of said outcome were pointed out as well. In the game , losing Mary Jane made that Peter become the evil CEO of Alchemax and in Earth-42 Miles losing his dad ended with him becoming the Prowler

I wouldn't say second best, as this game didn't have freeroam, but I'd say Web of Shadows would take second best. I actually never played Edge of Time because it didn't have freeroam, and I thought that was lame, but the game ended up being surprisingly good from what people are saying, so I missed out. EDIT: I also get this game confused with Shattered Dimensions a lot idk why xDD

@XX-sp3tt Miguel didn't know that, in fact he was entirely against saving her but decided to do it anyway, it's clear to me that he thought that it was going to be catastrophic, it just turned out to be harmless.
At the end of the day I think canon events are BS anyway, I think what happened once for Miguel was something specific to his situation more than anything else.

The fact that it wasn't a long fall is exactly why Gwen died. Gwen would hit the floor faster and Peter wouldn't have enough time to accelerate.

Everybody's talking about Across the Spider-verse, but I'm just in awe of how *LONG* that elevator shaft was.
Miguel was always the better successor to the name then Miles from my point of view but Marvel hardly cares enough to bring him and his timeline back, yes I know about Spider-Verse but my point still stands, his character is endearing and compelling due to how DIFFERENT he is from Peter, not how he’s “better” like how Marvel try to play up Miles. His costume, his origin, his powers, his ideology and way of doing things sets him from just being just a rehash of Peter. I’m glad he’s making a return in the sequel to Into the Spider-Verse. Oh also his characterization in this is quite amazing, this entire part of the game was just character development with extra steps for him pfff.
But didnt miguel appear in the 616 continuity and was trapped for a while in the "present" when the whole superior spidey thing was going on and even when peter came back? I think recently he was just sent back to the future.
I think they're both good. Miles is a good immediate successer while Migual is a great far future one
To be fair, dude is literally almost a century in the future, Miles would luckily be an old man by then, O'hara is just the next successor
Miguel has always been a better successor than Miles he lives up to Peter in everything even in terms of genius and most importantly he has a totally opposite character to Peter, I'm delighted that across the spiderverse did him justice but now I want to also in live action and above all I want insomniac to create the Marvel Spider-Man 2099 game

hearing Christopher Daniel Barnes voice takes me back to spider man the animated series he's my childhood spider man. that was a nice touch beenox/activision did getting all the former spider man voice actors to return and reprise their role as some version of spider man.
As annoying as can be to see a fan base spilt up due to disagreements, due mainly to the fact that it just leads into arguments rather than discussions, you know a movie is good when both sides have a valid arguments, leaving you conflicted 😎
And then all the conflict is lost when the obvious good guy side is proven right and harmless.
