I'm surprised Blackberry can still afford a number for customer service.
Blackberry is still a successful company though
Wait, Blackberry still exists?
Purpleberry*
They can afford it. Blackberry mostly does other types of tech, but they released new phones a couple of years ago and supposedly have another coming out soon. They have business customers who buy in bulk, and private customers who are likely to invest in the company if Blackberry keeps them happy. Shutting down customer service would be a bad move.
@@kes6541 Blackberry still exists?
To be fair, the given problem is so incredibly simple, that most technicians would think there's a bigger fault at hand. Things that need to take a charge is one of the most common things nowadays, that it's almost a given for them to be recharged at a certain point.

I wonder what apple number hes calling since every time I call, the initial response is completely different and the helpers on the other side are always super kind and helpful. Last time although I got disconnected somehow, I was able to call back and another guy knew my issues from the call before because they take notes of fixes and issues to make sure the customer gets good service and can determine issues based on issues in the past
I've only ever needed to contact one company before, about an issue I couldn't solve myself. That was Microsoft, and I had an issue with my Surface keyboard, and they handled it excellently. They even offered to do a swap for a new one for free.
βIs the phone not running around and deserting me?β That part had me dying π

Thank you for a great post. Even though the issue presented was unrealistic, dealing with customer service remains a HUGE dissatisfier every time I have to deal with a CSR. I recently had a flurry of run ins with Samsung customer service. Although it felt like the rep's left their brains at home, the truth of the matter is, most companies fail miserably at synergizing their various departments effectively and don't engage in proper employee training & empowerment.
Bruh that is not a problem at all.

My thoughts exactly, I think this test was unfair, he should at least have had a reasonable "problem" to test them.
This is so true. Honestly I feel bad for some of them as they couldn't even think of someone not knowing that your phone dies when you dont have enough battery. We have been using phones that can be charged from early 2000s now come on. Should have definitely had a better question that would actually need some good support

Being a Samsung Order Support in my previous job, I can definitely answer that concern by just asking right the questions. Almost everyone that has a phone would know what's the situation. But yeah, most of the reps are Department-specific driven meaning even if they know the answer, they'd still hand you over to the right department that should answer your question.
Also, I can tell that you're just playing up with me. Lol
You had very good luck! I usually can't get to speak to a real person at all. The poor customer service is not limited to tech companies either. Also, if they do have a phone number, the message says "We are experiencing unusually high volumes" regardless of when I call!

I feel like this issue was too easy, and techs, assuming youβre not tech illiterate, think the problem is bigger.
Having been customer support for a video game store, I can say with certainty that you should always assume the simplest problem first. Someone that has a bigger problem will almost always start saying more things than just "my screen black pls help". I once had a call about "my wii remote doesn't work", with the problem actually being that they didn't even put the batteries in, while I assumed they must've misplaced the sensor bar or didn't press the reset button to link the remote.

I don't think this is a totally unrealistic scenario though. Older people may upgrade phones without knowing the expected battery life of the phones they are replacing, and may not expect their new phone to need charging so often. For example, if you upgrade from a 6000 mah entry level phone which could last a full day on one charge, to the flagship mi 11 which only has 10 hours of screen on time, without knowing that the newer phone has a significantly lower battery life under heavy usage you'd think there's something wrong with your new device.
