Obama saw the irregularity in the American health care system and that's why he founded Obama Care for every citizen. Trump then tried to systematically destroy Obama Care !. A system that provides every citizen with basic medical care, especially black citizens. But the white Amerikkka was amazed and jealous that no white person came up with this revolutionary idea and deliberately systematically broke it. We see who now has to pay for this outrage, actually a senseless action. And even with this fact, the arrogant, white, middle class citizen shakes his head and is sure of his things.
I’m an uber driver in Chicago! I know exactly where that %72 came from.
1. House parties in the south and the west sides.
2. So many black customers were telling me that they are immune from this disease.
3. I heard from so many black customers that “this is all BS”
4. If u go to food stores liquor stores.....in the south and the west sides u will be shocked how the majority of black are respecting distancing!
I texted the mayor two weeks ago warning her about these issues but she did not responded nor she took any action!
This was my message to the mayor’s office:
Please stop the house parties! They have been going on for the last 2 weekends or set up a # to report them!
And please set up signs on buses or educative banners especially in the low income neighborhoods (south and west side) to raise awareness about
1. How does this virus infect people.
2. The importance of following the stay home policy, keeping distance, the importance of wearing a mask, and how this virus does not discriminate because some people think that it’s a “white peoples” disease!
I’m an uber driver and I’ve seen and heard so many insane things about this corona virus that left me wondering about the well-being of our city!

I know what it is, I’m black and I work at a liquor store in the south and I been seeing young blacks and a some older all dressed up and I’ll ask where they going because in my mind I know all clubs, bars and restaurants are closed.they going to party’s , they going to friends house to hang out instead of staying home. I thought it would be easy for young to stay home and be on FB, snap and other social media

They are even gathering in people's basements to hear "the word" and they feel that is covering them with the "blood of Jesus", rendering them invincible against Covid. It's troubling. I think some populations feel essentially helpless to this due to generations of disenfranchisement & understandable low expectations. We have to make this right.
That's interesting, because where I am in the Midwest, most black people I see are wearing masks, whereas most white people aren't. And yet the covid maps still suggest that the predominantly black neighborhoods are being hit the hardest.

In my area in Texas, we are making our own masks with bandannas and using paper towels as filters in them. No sewing necessary. I watched a video by an RN in my community, comparing it with a surgical mask.

This data is tragic, and underscores health disparities. When I read the condescending and callous comments it sickens me. It has always been miserable to be poor, and poor people have poor health for dozens of reasons. The expressed hatred is disgusting.
This could have fallen into blaming people. She avoided that and made sense.
I feel bad. She knows it's impossible to stop the stupidity.
I would like to see the infection rate by income level rather than “race.” It’s easy to manipulate statistics for a political agenda. Are all the people in certain areas and income levels infected and dying at the same rate? Are high-income black people also have a higher risk? Is population density a contributing factor? Are those living in single family homes safer than apartment dwellers?
I’m not trying to say racism isn’t present. But if it is not held up by facts that include all relevant information, it’s deceptive and creates the kind of conflict we see in the comments.
Seriously, if you say black people are suffering from more infection and death, show the facts that exclude the possibility that it is an economic problem not race.

There are two things that came to mind here. One being study black men living in Northern states having extremely high rates of Vitamin D deficiency which can create a host of underlying conditions. Secondly, and the more devastating, many young black people were sharing posts on social media about the coronavirus not affecting black people. A joke to some, but I would wager many young black people in Chicago have unknowingly infected their more vulnerable family, due in part to a nearly dismissive attitude that was fueled by social media. It was only two weeks ago the Chicago Tribune ran an article trying to correct this dangerous myth.
Imagine the world we would live in if Dems took responsibility for some of their own actions, instead of always blaming other people.

Lack of insurance, lack of access to testing, disregard of social distancing, it could be any or all of these reasons. It doesn't help that the inner city is crowded. Sorry about this. It could have been avoided.
With all of the social distancing I wonder after all of this concern for the virus how many people, particularly older black citizens will be found alone and deceased in the home. Does Chicago have a program to check on the people that social distance has forced us to forget?

I live in downtown LA where we all live in tall buildings. There have only been 15 total cases out of the millions of people who live here. Why? Because we are social distancing. We are taking precautions and washing our hands. The problem is people in certain areas, both white and black, just are not following the rules. Which is why it's spreading so rapidly in those areas. Apartments are NOT the problem.

She also doesn’t address blacks in Chicago low incomes and that causes them to have to go grocery shopping more frequently and thus have more exposure to others, they are less educated and thus were more likely to not prepare in advance, how their poverty makes them more dependent upon using public transportation which enhances their exposure, how lack of education makes them more likely to be front line retail workers in places such as grocery stores, and how social ridicule in the black community made it more difficult for those who decided to respond early and start covering their faces and doing other preventative measures.
Lots stacked against them, including and beyond poor healthcare, preexisting conditions, and poor nutrition.

Obesity and diet, which leads to those underlying issues that are causing death in those with the virus- diabetes, high bp, etc, are the reasons. Furthermore, many are not taking it serious enough. I went to my local park for exercise and I had on my mask. I had 3 groups of people, all black just like me, and they proceeded to laugh bc I was masked up or bc I let them have the sidewalk &moved to the street. The parks are full of people with no face coverings on and majority are black. They're all in these box stores with no masks on, VULNERABLE af! Just wide open, pregnant and all and it's so painful to see the nonchalantness of it all. They're not putting forth the effort to cover their faces and prevent the spread and its wreaking havoc in devastating numbers.
It's always wonderful to see that our Mayor worries more about only the ethnic citizens and not all of us. It makes me feel better to know that I voted for a Mayor who doesn't care about all of us. And shouldn't we all stay inside and wear masks? That wasn't mentioned. But the safety of our city doesn't matter I guess.
America has lost its intellectual , prosperous , moral high ground after it failed to save the lives of millions , handled covid19 pathetically and that richness did not come to America's rescue.

It was so hard for me when a dear friend who happens to be African American told me, "The Coronavirus is the least of my worries," when I called her to tell her that the nurse asked me to stay home due to some symptoms I was having. She implied I was paranoid but I was so afraid for her since she has many risk factors. I was also afraid that more African Americans would die. I do not want anyone to die but I am waiting for one one group in this country to be the majority population so that we can all have a voice and have a better government and society together.

Who ever said black ppl couldn’t get Covid? I never heard such a rumor. Who would even believe that! I do agree we need more testing! The testing has been pathetic and still is as we approach mid April. So so many Americans of all colors have underlying health issues and obesity. Especially amping the lower incomes. We eat cheap bc we can’t afford to eat healthy. Or we just don’t eat at all.
