Those poor hedge fund managers. How will they put food on their family?
They are *INVESTORS*. Investing is about risk. The trade-off of big payouts is big risk. It's literally the key part of the job description of an investor. Base salary is almost always 6 figures for low level analysts, multiples of that is not uncommon for total compensation in good times. These people can survive a layoff, and if they're good won't have trouble finding well-compensated work again before the end of next year.
If not so much about how much they make rather than if they can still work. PPP is intended to keep people employed whose businesses are closed as a result of coronavirus. Hedge funds can be operated remotely with online trading so it is not really appropriate for them to be in the program since they would not be unemployed as a result of the virus. That they are doing poorly is not justification for being in the PPP
