Debris field from Baltimore bridge collapse is 'very dangerous' for divers: Tiburon Subsea CEO
#Baltimore #BridgeCollapse #Infrastructure
About 20 years ago, a water taxi capsized in Baltimore's inner harbor during a sudden thunderstorm. Multiple people drowned. They spent months looking for the bodies, and I am not sure that they ever found all of them. Some were found out beyond Key Bridge. The water there is naturally murky and the tidal current is fairly strong. If those guys were not inside their trucks when they hit the water, they could be halfway to the Bay Bridge by now. On the other hand, if they were in their trucks, they will be found when the trucks are removed from the water. I think they should start removing the bridge, and when they free up the trucks, they will find the bodies (if they are there to be found).
They've found the other 4 bodies, but can't get to them because their vehicles are stuck under debris
There were no concrete protective barriers constructed around the pylons to prevent this kind of disaster from happening. This was probably due to initial cost saving in the design and construction of the bridge but look how much more this is going to cost Baltimore, Maryland and the entire nation because that simple safety measure was ignored. Those workers should never have died because of that kind of neglect.
Cargo ships were not that big back in 1972. Maybe protective measures should have been installed later.Transporting methods have had catastrophies throughout history. Valdez oil spill still haunts this planet.
It is painful 😒 seeing and thinking those poor people's were working and lost their life just because they were working so everyone who needs a bridge 🌉 could be okay 😢it is heartbreak. Many of us passed that bridge on certain times. I actually passed over that bridge on my birthday because we went for dinner on Baltimore and to Philly for celebrating part of my birthday and I can't believe still now poor people's working lost their life doing that work so the bridge could be safe for all of us 😢. God have them on his glory and welcome them to heaven because they were just working
Ill never understand why they interview the family of victims that have just went through tragedies.
Leeches man, they prey on tragedy & heartbreak ! Sadly these days, wonderful news is no news, it doesn't boost ratings.😰
Give us dirty laundry....
Because you're watching it.
The engine maintenance done at the port a day earlier went wrong! Just saying.
Solution is extremely simple: 2 tug boats should escort cargo ships until they clear the whole areas & bridges. Greedy ports & shipping conglomerates don’t want to pay extra for the mom & pop owners of many of the tugging boats! 😡
Wishful thinking but America is about quantity not quality..
It's unclear that tugboats could have changed the ship's course when the power went out, with currents and momentum. But they do need more tug boats in general, and they should have reinforced the piers. It costs a bit of money, but it's so much cheaper in the long run to have the area around the piers built up, so big ships would run around before they could hit the piers. It's not just the cost of building a new bridge, it's going to cost a lot of people a lot of money to go the long way around while it's being rebuilt.
The most surprising fact is such a heavy , long bridge crumbled down , the ship that caused the collapse is barely damaged , it din't sink nor the million containers on it got disturbed , this ship seems ready to sail back to its destination in the meanwhile the bridge came down like a house of cards, like a stack of chips , this is just not right .
Simple physics.
@@originaldelta What are the flashes that take place at every point the bridge "breaks"? What physics is that?
I used to cross that bridge to work everyday, I’ve also passed by those ships on a boat on the bay, so to me the scene makes perfect sense. Sadly it makes sense.
The bow of the ship is resting on the bottom of the river. The weight of the bridge itself is pushing it down.
We need to drive up the cost of shipping slave-made goods by forcing these ships to pay much higher insurance premiums to cover disasters of this magnitude.
Just this downage alone will add 20% when you're able to buy certain goods.... This will disrupt every product on the market...
I'm pretty sure the ship's owners are privately insured... They may carry a little normal insurance to be legal...
Why not use ROV so you can have a clear picture what's in underwater rather than to deploy divers?
They don't have access to one, Maybe? It's a thought.
Be safe down there folks. Its a dirty job but someone has to do it. Where is Mike Rowe on all this.
2:50 dangerous diving in murky waters 3:56 underwater robot scanning, mapping
Horrible.. my heart aches for that lady crying. Omg… 😢
How long to fix the bridge 2 years
There was lots of underwater hazards when they tried to recover Mary Jo Kopeckne's remains too.
I feel bad for these families and even though it will not bring their loved ones back I hope these families get great lawyers and bring law suits against who is at fault for this accident.
1 minute your patching a pothole....
Next you're sliding down the highway into the ocean.... ? 😮
We're not promised tomorrow , Good book tells us that. Proverbs 27:1
is that a gray sedan, wrapped in the bridge metal, on the ship?
right, road went down first, structure cashed down on top, may have flattened their trucks at the bottom. I will hope for that, cause it means they didnt drown and they didnt float out to sea never to be found. RIP
Dear God please comfort them. ❤💔
A simple bump by that ship and the bridge is gone. Something is wrong somewhere.
Quality made ship
25 ft of water or 40 feet of water
Four? What about the cars that went down?
Once the ship communicated that they had power troubles, traffic on both ends of the bridge was held off. Even though there was very little time, this at least was done. I don't know if any cars were on the bridge, but they did minimize the losses.
It is said the cars that were on the bridge belonged to the construction crew, personal and/or company vehicles. The two bodies that have been found were inside a red pick up truck.
Captain called for help from tugboats it was to late anchor was no help people died
Bridge was to old no protection around pillars for ships to go under bridge they should have thought about this the state of baltimore they new it was a shipping channel for big ships maintenance problem with ship
The concrete from bridge they w[nt get all that out of the water
No train tracks
Thinking installing new tracks to move bridge..(restore/salvage)?

Never had them
Strong bean of light device is not able to see though dark water? Tecnology is for make things easier for human deal with elements. God help those families that lost loved ones.
It can be very hard to see in a silty river, with strong currents. The light just bounces off the sand particles, sometimes you can barely see your hand in front of you. Like driving in a snowstorm, or heavy fog.
One of the latest most hilarious things coming out of tRumps mouth is 'he's questioning why Biden was asleep at 1:30 am when the freight ship crashed into the Baltimore bridge?' I couldn't stop laughing!
For want of a tug the bridge was lost
Govs footin the bill ?give them a performance bonus for doing a job they already get paid for.
Hey Mayor Petey.. the flag flown on that ship represents the country that needs to pay to fix that bridge.
Get Rid of Mayor Pete.
HE DOES WHAT HE'S TOLD -HE'S A GOOD CUB SCOUT
The ship ring company has insurance
Your understanding of big corp and insurance is underwhelming.
Lawyerly?
I wonder how the current administration came up with ' nothing to see here' so quickly.
Power failure no ability to use the rudder wind blowing across stacked up ship hit the bridge it's called an accident this is why Biden got the infrastructure bill passed to repair all the bad bridges roads throughout America
Plenty to see on J6
Want to share your own fairytale?
Who said that? They're doing investigations right now. This is all standard procedure. Would you prefer that they came up with a bunch of half-assed theories without proof? Randomly accuse people of being drunk? Hypothesise that terrorists caused the power outage on the ship? Would that make you feel better?
Debris feild.?? Salvage field..
Think thru helicopters liftings?
Get the USA MILITARY OUT OF THE MIDEAST and bring them to Baltimore to assist in this tragedy
There's plenty military in the US to help.
@@halberderdier8073 We need them to defend our southern border as well. Mideasterns can fight their own feuds.
This reminds me of Biden's 'build back better'.
?????
So you're upset that Republicans voted against spending more on infrastructure?
You are free to exercise your right to be stupid. You must be exhausted.
its almost "stole your election" season! exciting!

So sad 😂😢😅
Tim... the tool man?
Why are the tax payers Paying for this?? Doesnt the Shipping Company have Insurance?? WE NEED TO INVESTIGATE THIS to prevent this from happening again.
fix the bridge asap, send the bill to the insurance companies. Waiting for the insurance companies to front the bill will be tangles up in legal battles, that will go on for decades. Nobody want to wait that long for the bridge to get fixed
@@brb__bathroom Yes that is exactly why. Some people want to turn every ordinary thing into a scandal or a conspiracy.
The informations may require a UN..
@@brb__bathroomcounting lateness starting in14 days???
Said by a true MAGA Republican who does not want to spend a dime, to assist American People that are in need, EVER. Not only will what yo say take years, but it may well be beyond the limits of any insurance coverage. Baltimoreans can indeed count their blessings that this tragedy happened under a Democratic Administration, particularly this one under JOE BIDEN.
Biden's America
I am looking forward for your in depth analysis on that. will it be the usual puddle level?
Thanks, Mr Scabcrawler? Not exactly a reliable source...
This ia ALL under Biden. What a disgrace.

Would you please interview Joe Biden so he can tell us about how he rode the train across the bridge is the dementia kicking in that bad or he's just off in la-la land with stories.
You have mashed potatoes on your chin again Grampa.
