Being a retired nurse when the pandemic started this was the first thing I thought about...staff illness, burn out and finally lack of medical staff to deal with the magnitude of ill people. Cuomo is right on in his assertions concerning managing this serious situation. Its a sad state of affairs that the President is so lacking and incompetent. In Cuomo you see how a TRUE leader handles a crisis.

In Europe we have at least a quarter of all medical staff off sick in quarantine or themselves infected or even in intensive care.. Military medics were recalled worldwide and are backing up hospitals.. staff in training were fast tracked.. tens of thousands of retired staff contacted and recalled or asked to help...Military used in every possible way to support.. we gave the US a blueprint how to do this.. What did the US do.. set up separate facilities with these people and leave the original hospitals with zero support. What good is a hospital ship with 1200 staff and 1000 beds that will accept no patient until a hospital tests to make sure they are not infected with Covid-19 and then transfer them... Hospitals are not accepting patients.. I am literally watching open mouthed at the disorganisation in the US.. The US is not on course to be like Italy.. Italy was better prepared with a better healthcare system.. with national support organisation and back up... The US will never respond as well as Italy... The mortality rates in the US will dwarf Italy.. this is an unfolding Horror story... Thank God NY had Cuomo... thank God.. I actually think the worst hit state will be Florida it is entirely unprepared and with an Elderly population... watch the numbers explode 2 weeks after spring break... and carry on for a month... it will be like the Apocalypse in Florida. When the Hospitals stop helping the elderly with low survival chances and fewer years left to live.. which is the sad reality that not all can be helped.. when they run out of Oxygen as they did in Italy... Trump will be lynched... Americans are in denial of the inevitable outcome.. these people have been the walking dead for weeks.. screaming this is a hoax.. the domino effect of state by state total collapse of healthcare systems is all but assured.. stay well American cousins Stay Home.

We are also #2 in people exiting the state. My whole family has left within the last 5 years and I will too once my youngest finish’s college. I was born in NY and have loved this state for a long time and never thought I would leave. If he is such a great governor...then why is everyone leaving? No, they got there because when Trump created the corona task force and shut down travel from China NY was busy gathering and celebrating chinese new years, downplaying the virus, calling the travel ban racist, and sounding the drums of impeachment. Trump's response wasn't perfect but most everyone else's was flat-out suicidal - mostly governors on the left.

every time a doctor dies--italy has lost over 50 so far--it is not only a tragedy for their families but for society. It takes 10 years of education and training to begin to replace that loss. This thought staggers me.

I’m an emergency room nurse working 16hrs we hope we can get a bathroom break but at this point Foley caths are the best right now 5 grapes and half a Shasta is like a steak. We virtually see our families for fear of infecting them power naps in the break room is like 20 minutes in a spa. We keep saying help is on the way it’s coming it’s coming and we get nothing sweet Jesus we will rent a bus a truck whatever we need to do to go get supplies from wherever they are. It’s a war zone here literally a war zone. I am supposed to be getting a power nap right now but I’m so tired that I can’t sleep and by the time I do get to sleep it’s time to get up and swap places a coworker. This is traumatic to the point that staff passes out but we don’t have supplies to help them the hospitals are full we have patients everywhere our patients deserve better than this we deserve better. God help us please please help us we are beginning to have PTSD. I believe my chihuahua will bring us the supplies we need before ever believing Trump will. Someone with real logic deploy the national guard or a helicopter and drop what we need on the roof. Heaven help us because not only will it be the death of our patients and us. Their love ones should not have to see a truck full of black body bags. We want to wave the white flag but we are not going to leave our patients and their families and our coworkers behind

I know this man is extremely busy and doing a great job keeping the focus on NY and NYC, but I wonder if he has thought about running for president. After 9/11 many thought Rudy would make a good president but he didn't have the skills, determination, or knowledge. This man has it. He is the one that could put America back on track and lead us out of the muck that we are stuck in because of president that knows nothing about leading or taking charge.

He is also definitely responsible for why the United States has by far more cases of Coronavirus than any other country. Trump has left js woefully unprepared for this. But anyways, I hope you end up reading that article article about Andrew Cuomo, he may be better than Trump (being better than Trump is a pretty low bar), but in terms of actual policy he is not much better than Trump, and in some cases on par with Trump. We need strategic manufacturing capabilities, not tariffs, to make sure we can be self sufficient in crises like this. This is where capitalism fails and government has to set the requirements. Counter to what Republicans demand.

I agree with comments below......NYC, Florida, california R all in urgent need........I don't hear of a lot of people dying from this in North dakota yet. Other states should the ventilators first and then pass them on to the midwest states when they need them.

US States would be better off declaring independence from Washington DC. They should cecede from the Union. And each one could become an independent member of NATO for their military defence. Or more appropriately a North American (plus Canada) defence association. N.O.D.A. NATO could become the European defence association EDA. The world would gain 50 new countries. Americans would be better off.
