Norway invited USA to help support the development for a vaccine against corona viruses among others, back in 2017 with the CEPI organization. Japan and Germany joined immediately, then the EU. USA has still not joined and nobody seems to understand why. I'm not suggesting any sinister motives here, I think it's more about disbelief than anything. But why would the USA be so dismissive of the threat of a pandemic? If it was just us Norwegians and Europeans, then sure, we're socialists and communists and all kinds of sinister ists, but Bill Gates was with CEPI from the beginning. Not even Fox would call him an anti-American commie, would they? Why didn't they listen to him? I don't understand.
PaulSoong total lock down from January to March, that was a nightmare, very little people died because of the virus but the whole economy got destroyed, I have lost 1.2 million rmb in the past three months and many people lost their jobs, I know we were doing everything to make sure people not gonna die because of the virus, but the after effects on economy are brokenly bad and I am worrying about the future of Chinese economy.

Add tens of million of those and the economy will suffer too. You can't ignore the trillions of dollars that were saved and only look at the price that was paid.

In China, the wholesale price of a mask is about 0.25 $, and the retail price of a pharmacy is about 0.43 $ (including tax). I heard that some masks sold in the US come from China. The question is: How much does a mask cost in the US?

Jerry Qin There is a great deal of money in the US but it is controlled by large corporations & wealthy individuals. They have been noticeably absent with any huge donations. Many, in fact, are just taking the bailouts without oversight. American Airlines said is was going to reduce the workforce in the fall with money given to them to keep those employed with healthcare. Kushner is not extending any relief to tenants but asking banks for loan extensions. Notable exceptions, Bob Kraft going to China with the Patriot’s plane for PPEs & masks. The greed is extraordinary & Trump is allowing him to to say the quiet parts out loud. It is a very strange time we live in.

Yeah for Oregon...I reside in Oregon and my father is in the VA rest home in Lebanon. He has been in isolation for a month. No visitor no physical contact. He is disabled and 84 yes old. Its confusing for him especially at this time in his life not to have loved ones around.

born and raised new yorker, been living in oregon over 13 years. So proud of my governor and the people of oregon to give (unsolicited) ventilators. Of course, i'll always be a new yorker but glad we have common sense here. Governor Brown responded quickly to stayhome/staysafe and we are hanging in there. Crossing our fingers that our efforts will flatten the curve here.

I live in Wilsonville, which is just 8 miles south of Portland, OR. Population of about 40,000. High end tech is our main industry. A decent amount of money in our town. We SHUT DOWN our town almost 3 weeks ago! NOBODY bitched. EVERYBODY is more than happy to comply. We watch out for each other, take care of each other and are considerate of each other regardless of what part of town you live in, your income, whether you're homeless or independently wealthy, it does not matter! We know this is serious and we know the sacrifices our friends and neighbors are making by not working, and WE HELP, We STAY HOME, we WORK TOGETHER in whatever small or large ways we can, AS A COMMUNITY. Our country would benefit by following the examples of communities (cities) like Wilsonville, San Francisco, Seattle, NEW YORK. People are dying. Lots of people. We need to take this seriously AS A COUNTRY. Be well, my friends!

Only 15% of ppl needing to be on a ventilator for 2 weeks will survive. And they will have permanent lung damage. I know an 85% death rate once you're on a vent for 2 wks is grim- but there are still ppl out there calling the whole thing a hoax. It couldn't be more serious.

If American workers accept to work with a quarter of their original salary sure we can pull the production line back, but will they accept that? Not to mention the Chinese make many ventilators because they have a huge population with lunge diseases due to smoking and pollution. And you expect America to make hundred of thousands of ventilators when no one in the society needs them? As I last checked, weeds are not that harmful to your lungs mate.
